Your hopes and aspirations for the coming year

So 2014 has drawn to a close. Plenty happened but it's gone now; it's past. So what are your personal goals for 2015?

I'm doing a university course which doesn't finish until 28 May, so for the first five months of the year my prime focus will be on that. After that, I expect to look for some sort of proper employment.

I'd also like to start eating more healthily and regularly and perhaps get back to using dumb-bells to tone my physique somewhat. I'd like to read more novels as I have been lazy in that regard for a few years now - most of what I've read has either been comic books or my mandatory uni textbooks.

I'd like to further hone my abilities as a footballer and possibly play in more tournaments as we haven't played that many over the last while. I should probably work on perfecting my skills.

I hope to to get through a lot of media which I have on my list - certain TV shows, films, comics etc.

Last but not least, I'd like to see more of certain family members, especially my grandfather. On average, I only seen him once every few weeks in 2014. Not to be macabre, but he will be 77 in June so he won't be around forever. I should make the most of the time he has left, particularly as I'm fortunate to live only ten minutes away - not every 32 year old can say they are so proximate to their grandparent.

There's probably not enough time in the year to accomplish all of the above but we can always try. What are your plans?

Gunpowder 01-02-2015 04:53 AM

Simply put, I just wanna get out more. I want to take more risks and try a lot of different things - broaden my music, look into more effective art techniques, really progress health/muscle-wise, learn to cook, socialize more, experiment with the way I look/dress, possibly learn to play guitar...just get out there and stop sticking to only the things I know.

Being the perfectionist that I am, that's easier said than done :tlol:, but I'll manage.

BubblyShell22 01-02-2015 09:11 AM

I don't really hope for anything as I always end up getting disappointed, so I just skip that as I believe hope breeds eternal misery. I know that sounds melancholy, but it's the truth in my case.

I'd love to get better at updating my fan fics as that's something that I tend to have a problem with where I'll start a story and then not update it for a long time. So I definitely want to get better at that.

Other than that, not much really that I can think about besides getting that tutoring job, but the problem is that my minutes aren't showing up calculating what I use for my Internet, and with this job, I want to be able to keep track so I know how long I can work so I don't go over my minutes. It shows up on the bill, but it won't show up on my computer how many minutes I've used. At first, it did, and then it stopped doing it, and I don't know why. Might have to get that fixed before I even try for it. And with all the drama that keeps happening, I'm just getting to a point where it's better that I don't work right now.

I do hope I can find a job with better pay, and something that I will enjoy more. I'm noticing working in retail really grinds my gears more and more on how moronic and annoying customers are, the majority really leaves their brain at the store entrance.

Lose some weight would be nice, but. I doubt that will happen.

Davetello 01-02-2015 11:09 AM

Thanks for the posts so far.

Heh. Would be perfect if you could give some of yours to me as I'm too skinny these days, Unfortunately that isn't possible.

Candy Kappa 01-02-2015 11:16 AM

That would have been an amazing ability :D

I like junk food too much for my own good. XD

Davetello 01-02-2015 12:05 PM

Yeah, would be really great.

I love junk food as well but I've sort of been forced into eating less. I've mentioned why before so won't bore people with the details, again.

Powder 01-02-2015 12:51 PM

Lose some more weight, put out a new album, play more shows, travel, do something for IDW, save up for a flat-screen TV, get a table at Heroes Con, clear house a bit (wanna sell off some clutter), & make something happen with this new ladybro. Prolly oughtta learn to drive, too... :tlol:

Davetello 01-02-2015 12:58 PM

Quite a lot, then

Powder 01-02-2015 01:02 PM

I'd rather have a host of reasonable desires than one or two loftier unrealistic goals, you know? Most people say they'll do this or that, but they either don't really want to, or can't whatsoever.
This is just an expansion of what I do already, for the most part. Wanna remain consistent & improve my output.

CyberCubed 01-02-2015 01:08 PM

By the end of 2015 I'll be 30. Good god. This is my last year in my 20's, it is very scary.

Yeah, I wasn't taking a shot at you. You're right that most of your goals are pretty realistic. In saying that so are mine, in retrospect.

The transition is easier than you expect.

I know that, I was just explaining my stance. No worries.

IndigoErth 01-02-2015 02:51 PM

Now that an personal physical health issue I was dealing with seems to be solved (knock on wood), after dealign with it since April 2013 - I hope to get back into a real job soon, something that I can stand. I hope the small animation/comic start-up studio I've been with will get somewhere this year. Hope family and friends all remain alive and well. Maybe get the guts to try martial arts if I can afford to do it once working.

 Ah, the 29th year... a nice count down as the 20s slip away. Sister just hit 30 in Dec., I always tried to warn her that the 20s go fast, twice as fast and the teens go slow, but did she listen...nooo... just ran right through them like she had time to kill. lol :)

It'll be fine... I think 31 - 34 were easier, over hitting the big 3-0 and still just young 30s. Now... upcoming 36 is what I'm dreading. Technically no longer "mid 30s" and I think that ends the "young adult" category. I don't know how I even got here. Only things that make me feel better is my sister joining the 30s and knowing TMNT themselves are here, too. :twink:

CyberCubed 01-02-2015 04:43 PM

Everytime you hit a new age milestone its a big deal. Its the same way when we were all teens and hit 20 for the first time it felt like we were "adults" even though looking back at it now we were all still very much kids in our early 20's.

30 is a big deal, just like people in their 30's are dreading hitting 40.

Cure 01-02-2015 05:29 PM

I hope I don't die because life is awesome.

Yeah, I remember wanting so bad to be 20.

Shh. We don't speak that f-word number.

Ok that's another hope for this year. I hope it goes SLOW (along with the next few). Unless it's terrible. I hope it's good or at least good enough.

Oh, and I hope the movie people spend 2015 getting their act together and making improvements over the first. Hope the series picks up strong again and orders a 5th season.

pennydreadful 01-02-2015 08:08 PM

I want to get my depression back under control/find a medication combo that works for me again.

I want to get more tattoos as it's something I had actually wanted to do for years and I just put it on the shelf due to lack of confidence and the anxiety involved with the social interaction it'd take to get it done.

Lose weight, which is always a given.

Potentially find someone who's comfortable being involved in a poly relationship with the bae and I/or at least go on some dates with some cuties who give me butterflies in the tummy.

Find some sort of direction in life.

I doubt I'll manage most of the things on this list, but it'd be great if I could accomplish even one or two.

Netkeeper 01-02-2015 08:26 PM

doctor

literally it

Leo656 01-02-2015 08:32 PM

Hope I still have my hair and that it doesn't all turn gray.

I usually shoot pretty low on these things.

Prowler 01-02-2015 08:35 PM

That my studies go well and that I keep growing up as an individual and improving my skills. I think these are good goals.

Slade 01-02-2015 08:37 PM

Die

Been a bad day, week, whatever

Leo656 01-02-2015 08:39 PM

Ahhhhh, come on guy. You got a lot goin' on.

Davetello 01-02-2015 08:42 PM

Yes, try not to get into that mindset, Slade. It's never a nice one to be in. As far as I'm aware you have responsibilities as a father - concentrate on that.

Slade 01-02-2015 10:14 PM

Just a downer day. I'm sure I'll half ass perk back up to my regular self tomorrow.

Leo656 01-02-2015 10:25 PM

I usually just listen to some Faith No More and things have a way of figuring themselves out in the meantime.

I'm absolutely no help at all. Works for me, though.

Slade 01-02-2015 11:35 PM

Let me be legit with it this time. I have trivial hopes axtually. I hope to get my next damn tattoo before the year is up, I need some rims on my truck and some tint in the windows. Either fix or get out the relationship I'm in and move up another step at my job.

Powder 01-02-2015 11:55 PM

I'm another one of the folks who'd love to get more tattoos. Unfortunately, aside from it being an expense I can't afford, I'm unsure if I can get any more & come out unscathed... In recent years I've developed psoriasis (mostly on my scalp & surrounding areas) but the doc says it's often attracted to areas of trauma, so I'm afraid I might get it at the tattoo site, should I get another, & that would suck for so many reasons.

snake 01-03-2015 12:02 AM

To actually complete a game for once.

MsMarvelDuckie 01-03-2015 12:26 AM

My main goals for the year are to finish my two main fan-fics as well as a few of the newer ones I've started, and to get back into some of my other hobbies and activities, like getting back into making dream-catchers and reading more.

pennydreadful 01-03-2015 02:36 AM

That's rough, Powder. Is there currently a particular treatment that you're using for it?

Look on the bright side - at least you've got a really bangin' Ninja Turtles tattoo already. :tsmile:

Slade, hope things improve for you this year dude.

Jephael 01-06-2015 04:35 PM

Hoping I get a badge to San Diego Comic Con this year. If not, there's always New York Comic Con, which I plan on taking my nephew to when he turns 7. I'd also like to make some new friends if at all possible, and maybe even a girlfriend, though I'm a little unsure of that possibility.

Kinda/sorta. I've tried a billion things, there's only one medication that works it costs $600 a bottle. I managed to get it once way back when we had health insurance, but ever since I've been getting by sparingly using tiny ass samples I managed to get a hold of. Sucks. They say there are shots you can get for it but I don't think it's anything I can afford. It's hell to deal with, man. Physically so uncomfortable, & it really makes your self-esteem take a hit, too. I guess I could say clearing that up would be a blessing for 2015, but I don't think it's too likely.

pennydreadful 01-06-2015 05:26 PM

Wow, that sucks! And I thought I got charged through the ass for my medical stuff...

I can imagine that must be really tough from a self-esteem perspective as well. Here's hoping that you get offered an obscene amount of $$ to do some Turtles work in the future and then you can manage to get it sorted.

Whatswiththeheadbands? 01-06-2015 05:28 PM

Man, your lucky! My family can't afford Comic Con, but I've always wanted to go.

Icebot 01-07-2015 05:09 PM

Mine is to basically have balance in my life.

It should be easier for me now now that the craziness at my job is finally starting to go away.

I want to take my time doing things and never wait til the last minute and never think it's the end of the world if I fail.

Wingnut 01-07-2015 11:43 PM

Hit the lotto then rob a bank just for the hell of it.

This is the year, I can feel it.

I'll try to rack up some course credit in the meantime...
