Best/Favorite Female Character

As of now, I don't really have a favorite female character.

Who is your favorite/best female character, and why?

CyberCubed 01-03-2015 07:59 PM

Irma doesn't count.

April and Karai are about the same to me.

snake 01-03-2015 08:05 PM

Karai. Background female #2 is a runner up though.

IndigoErth 01-03-2015 09:20 PM

Spoiler:
Shhyeah right. Really though...
Don't really have a favorite right now. Like April sans mind powers ok, but she really needs to take a step back. I was starting to like human Karai, but then I guess the same principal exists in fictional worlds as does the real one: s*** happens.

Maybe Tea Time Girl.

Shark_Blade 01-03-2015 09:29 PM

April Derp.

Powder 01-03-2015 09:53 PM

April is my favorite (this is my favorite version of the character, sans psychic powers) but I do think Karai is done better.

MsMarvelDuckie 01-03-2015 10:09 PM

Karai, definitely. She's got more background and I really like the way they've handled her.

CaliperCat 01-03-2015 10:27 PM

I think Karai is the best constructed of the female characters. She's sassy, clever, and pretty darn smart, with a well thought out background, without being a heartless shrew that a lot of television bad girls are made out to be. I'm pretty fond of April, though, personality-wise, because we share a few personality traits, and because she's pretty brave (although sometimes I wish she'd be a bit smarter about picking when and where to become involved). The one thing that really bugs me about her is how unnecessarily loud she can be. Literally. Running a few blocks shouldn't make you sound like you're about to shrilly wheeze up a lung. Oh well. :P

Ice Cream Kitty, I believe Michelangelo called it a girl...

Though with so few females to choose from, it's not really a fair decision. We need to wait on the inevitable addition of characters such as Renet, Mona Lisa, one of the fox mutants (either Alopex or Ninjara), a real Irma, Angel (likely in the guise of Nobody) and probably some version of Venus, and possibly the introduction of Casey's sister.

Amaranthus 01-04-2015 04:48 AM

Same here. Since Irma wasn't really human, my vote goes to ICK as well! Love that kitty. Hm, or maybe Tea Time Girl. Ciro bring her back, please! lol

drgon78 01-04-2015 06:15 AM

April is best female: character:) , Karai is overrated:P, and Irma wasn't even a real girl.:(

Mew 01-04-2015 06:19 AM

April is WAY to overrated

neatoman 01-04-2015 08:29 AM

A thread dedicated to female characters? In the Nickelodeon TMNT show?

I don't have one, Karai and April are equal to me. I didn't really like Irma until her big reveal

pennydreadful 01-04-2015 04:49 PM

Karai for the win.

drewizzle88 01-04-2015 11:34 PM

April for me, I didn't like the initial idea of her being young, but I think it's worked out great.

neatoman 01-05-2015 01:02 PM

Just for fun I counted the list of characters on Wikipedia, the show has (including cameos and forthcoming while ignoring the ones from the cartoon parodies) roughly 80 characters (I lost the exact count), how many are females?

Well, there's April, Karai, Bigfoot, Renet, the little girl who had tea with Leo and a TV host. The rest is questionable however, I think ICK was female, Kraang Prime has a femenine voice, Irma is questionable, there's the android, the wasps might have been female based how wasps are in real life, there's the mutated April clone, the mom thing which may just have shapeshifted into a female and might not be female itself.

So including the questionable ones, the female/male ratio is roughly 1 female in 6 characters. Ignoring the odd ones it's 1 in 13. Roughly 7% of the characters are female if you ignore questionably females, if you include them it's 16%.

"But what about the important ones?" you say, "What's the figure when it just comes to important characters?". Well, Ignoring all the monsters of the week and rather expendable recurring characters like the PDs and Murakami, the ratio is: 2 in 6, 17% and that included Irma...

plastroncafe 01-05-2015 01:11 PM

I'd have said Irma, but...alas.
Ice Cream Kitty.

You know it's sad when you have to settle on a mutated ice cream pet cat as your favorite girl character

Truer words have never been spoken.

Hey we've also got Dr. Cluckingsworth M.D. even though her giant pulsating brain made me want to barf. She did a good job and helped Casey and Donnie out of a tough spot.:D

For the last time Kraang Prime is male, Ciro actually said this. Likewise Kraang Prime is intended to be the original Krang who was also male, so it makes sense.

BabyTurtles 01-05-2015 02:45 PM

Can we please just have Angel/Alopex/Mona Lisa in the show already and have them not be love interests or just cameos. (or new girls..IDC)

I fear for Renet.....T-T I want to believe she will be more than Mikey's crush...but I refuse to be hopeful.

CyberCubed 01-05-2015 02:48 PM

Since Renet is an older women she'll probably just find Mikey's crush cute in a puppy dog manner, she won't respond to it.

Oh god, she's gonna be the Megan Fox of 2012.

I'd really rather it was her that was crushing, but given Mikey's affections toward others and general gregarious nature, I assume that prob won't be the case.

Anyway... So what are the choices so far anyhow.

April
Karai
Irma (?)
Ms. "Rocket Arms" Campbell
April Derp(s)
Ice Cream Kitty
Tea Time Girl
Mom-Thing (?)
Dr. Cluckingsworth
(edit) Bigfoot (?)
[Renet confirmed]

Am I forgetting any...

Really show? Really? lol *sigh*

Edit: Just realized the frogs kind of came across as being a colony of one gender... one female voice in one short line from an unnamed random frog could have helped that.

From the sketch we've seen she looks like an adult at least, or an older teen.

I'm thinking Mikey will act like how BeastBoy did with this crush on Terra.
I can't remember how that went down...but I don't remember it being annoying.......

I just hope it's a thousand times more subtle and charming than Apriltello...I mean if you HAVE to have Renet/Mikey moments at least make the experience bearable......or better yet enjoyable.

Some frogs will switch gender depending on the sex breakdown of the group. So...maybe some of them did that?

Anyway...Mom Thing was AWESOME.
If we'd gotten more than one episode with her, I'd have totally voted for her instead of ICK.

CyberCubed 01-05-2015 03:33 PM

How do frogs switch gender? I've never heard of that before.

Really? It's just one of those bizarre Nature is Weird things.
I can't say how all amphibians do it, but the Marine Toad has an extra gonad that comes into play should the usual set get damaged.

It's part of the basic conceit of Jurrasic Park as well. They take the gaps in the dinosaur DNA and fill them using frog DNA, which then gives them the ability to swap as the environment allows and then breed unrestricted.

Here's the second link on the Google I just did:

Candy Kappa 01-05-2015 03:42 PM

Karai pre-Miwa "reveal".

As of now, I guess ICK will do...

hmmm her face looks young...she just seems to have more muscle/curves....kinda like Korra.

Bry 01-05-2015 08:28 PM

Karai, easy. She's easily the most interesting and well-developed female character -- and one of the most interesting and well-developed characters on the show as a whole, really -- and Kelly Hu is great. Going forward, it'll depend on what they do with Snake Karai (which I kinda hope is short-lived).

I like April, but she could do with some better writing/characterization, IMO. There's potential there but I don't feel like they've really lived up to it.

But man, the show really needs more women. The property as a whole has had that problem, but now's the time to address/fix it.

I sincerely hope that mutating her was not because the writers had run out ideas on what to do with her.

Had she not been mutated then what have been the next thing for her? Seriously what else could they have done? Is being reunited with her true father is just when of those things that has be put on hold like the Capritello triangle thing until the end of the series?:ohwell:

I'm still kind of sad what it did to that storyline. Sure it made it an interesting twist that they will hopefully continue to write for, but... I'd really looked forward to that day she "came home" and was still looking forward to that whole situation with their now larger family and the new dynamics that would be established. As well as maybe seeing a friendship develop between April and Karai.

Well, who knows, I guess. No one still has any clue that she's a shape shifter and can still appear human, I hope they don't put that potential revelation aside as a minor forgotten detail.

You know damn well that they will from experience.
