Best Version of Baxter Stockman?

Which version is best? You decide! :rolling::flaming::thyper:

Note: Based on the 3 major TMNT cartoons.

snake 01-06-2015 04:52 AM

IDW has the best version, but 4kids is my runner up.

Baxter's been consistantly good in anything.

HeroTurtlesFan 01-06-2015 05:44 AM

My favourite is definitely the Nick series one, just a great, funny character.

TrickOrTreater 01-06-2015 06:05 AM

Really, super hate the 2003 version. Don't recall much of him from the original cartoon. I remember him, but not much.

But the Nick version is great, so him.

plastroncafe 01-06-2015 09:05 AM

I'm going with 2k3.

I second that. The Nick Baxter has no backbone, and the FredWolf Baxter was race-lifted and didn't even act like a villain in his debut episode.

1987 Baxter is entertaining enough, but I hate it when characters are whitewashed and I've always liked the roboticist angle a lot more than him being yet another mutant enemy. Pretty mixed on him.

2003 Baxter I like a lot. He's cartoonishly arrogant, though his ranting got irritating at times, but he's overall pretty on-point with the Mirage original. The ongoing torture/dismemberment by Hun was surprisingly dark for a kids' cartoon, and his changing robot forms kept him visually interesting.

2012 Baxter's not bad either. Nice to have Phil Lamarr in the role. Not a bad mix between the '87 version and the original Mirage, but he hasn't been used to his full potential yet, and I could have done without the fly mutation again.

2003 wins for me.

I am really surprised with all the hate or lack of love for the FW cartoon. I always loved Batxter in the FW cartoon when I was younger and in the video games. But rewatching the series gives me a greater appreciation for the 2k3 series Baxter.

IndigoErth 01-06-2015 09:53 AM

Gotta go with the current series version.

To me, '87 was just "meh" and '03 was kind of irritating after a short time.

MikeandRaph87 01-06-2015 10:04 AM

My non-vote goes to the IDW Baxter Stockman. Thus far he has remained human and seeing him working loosely with Krang instead of Shredder is interesting. Curious to see what becomes of his character even if its a Flyborg.

Runner up would be the classic Baxter The Fly from Ninja Turtles (1987).

plastroncafe 01-06-2015 10:24 AM

I want to like the new guy, but I have little tolerance for bumbling incompetence in my villains.

Mew 01-06-2015 10:28 AM

Yeah, Baxter needs to man up in the new cartoon, but it is his personality.

D Piddy 1982 01-06-2015 10:33 AM

Probably just nostalgia, but I like the FW Baxter the best, both human and fly form.

The fly figure from this series was a pretty awesome figure too!

Bumbling incompetence. My favourite kind of villain, led by a genius frustrated by those around him!

Usagi Miyamoto 01-06-2015 12:37 PM

IDW might have passed 2K3 as my favorite, but of the current options I'll pick 2003.

DarkFell 01-06-2015 01:26 PM

Going with FW Stockman. 2k3 Stockman and 2012 Stockman never grew on me quite like '87 Baxter / Baxterfly did.

Powder 01-06-2015 01:46 PM

IDW's Baxter is my favorite, but of the toons I gotta give it to 4kids for Scott Williams alone. One hell of a voice actor.

MsMarvelDuckie 01-06-2015 06:01 PM

I voted for the 4Kids/2K3 version, as I really liked him as a character, but if I could've picked two, I'd take the OT one as a tie. I always liked his sycophantic, bumbling personality, and he was a lot of fun. Nick's Baxter is okay, I guess, he just hasn't quite grown on me like his predecessors did. And I'll ad IDW as a close second.

blindturtle02 01-06-2015 09:39 PM

I wanted to pick both 2k3 and Nick but managed to stick with 2k3 only because they sure managed to do a lot with him in that show. That version went through so much more than a mutation but he still managed to come out on top in the end. Even when Shredder was absent for a bit in 2 for instance, he still managed to make things messy for the turtles. I love Nick's Stockman about the same, but we still haven't seen the whole series so I think I'll wait to see where they go with him. I love all of his episodes so far, especially Lonely Mutation.

Luckyday 01-06-2015 10:54 PM

Hmm 2k3 Baxter Stockman, because the guy still manages to have a up beat attitude even after getting eye and limb taken away and even had the gull to cross his boss twice.

snake 01-06-2015 10:58 PM

I'm sure the writers had a blast reducing Baxter to pieces in 2k3.

shuriken 01-06-2015 11:36 PM

^^I'm sure they did.
2k3 by miles. He had his own motivations, he had a unique character arc and eventually redeemed himself (albeit as a tentacle brain thing some hundred years later but whatevs). Insane in the Membrane alone proves how much of a twisted and tragic character he was at that point, both his mind and body were wasting away, after having such promise and potential.
The OT and nick Baxters are ok. The best thing about BaxterFly from the OT is his deteriorating mind and the best thing from Nick Baxter is his fly fro.

Duke Nukem 01-07-2015 12:32 AM

I'm going with 2k3 for the best cartoon Stockman. He kept losing body parts throughout the series, and his story throughout the series definitely made him more interesting than either of the other two versions. Insane in the membrane was a great episode as well. I've heard it was banned from reruns after being aired the first time for some reason.

BabyTurtles 01-07-2015 01:00 AM

I liked 2012 before he was mutated.

I just found him kinda adorkable XD

overall though...I guess I'd pick 2k3. His life sucked :(

Eurydemus 01-07-2015 02:26 AM

Oh, 2K3 by far. He was actually menacing even if he always ended up being undone by his own hubris. I also like the fact 4Kids Stockman became something of a sympathetic character throughout the series who found redemption at the end.

Shark_Blade 01-07-2015 04:12 AM

OT Fly Baxter for me cause that's the most legendary version.

Mew 01-07-2015 04:22 AM

Hey, I haven't seen you since my 1st post.

I'm going to say first it'd be Mirage Baxter, than 4Kids, and then IDW.

Venom 01-07-2015 02:20 PM

Def 4kids. He managed to be a resilient menace throughout the series.

Overall, IDW wins because he is ideally how I've always envisioned Baxter: a self-serving mad genius.

METALHEAD 01-07-2015 03:00 PM

2012 baxter. his design is based off his mirage self and i find that awesome.

Icebot 01-07-2015 03:59 PM

My favorite Baxter is from the 4kids series.

Oh he crossed him more than twice.

It was never shown in the first place.

Donny's computer84 01-11-2015 11:01 PM

The 2012 Baxter. He's more comical.

100% This...despite reducing it by 33.333%. :P

CylonsKlingonsDaleksOhMy 01-11-2015 11:11 PM

I've never liked Fly Baxter. Cyborg Baxter all the way... but IDW is my favorite version. 41 issues and a bunch of mini-series, and he's still 100% human!!!

Cipher 01-11-2015 11:58 PM

Yo, IDW's is actually the best here.

Of the cartoons, 4Kids.

The Fred-Wolf version added a really effective, memorable villain to that rogues gallery, though, and I'll give that props, even if I usually forget it's even the same character as other versions.

Gunpowder 01-12-2015 01:38 AM

Going with 4Kids because (1) he had the better voice actor, and (2) I could actually take him seriously.

MsMarvelDuckie 01-12-2015 01:58 AM

I voted 4Kids, but to be honest, it's sort of a tie with the OT for me. I'd love a version that does BOTH. Wait- that's IDW.....
