Official Ep Discussion: S3 Ep9: "Return to New York"

Well, looks like we're back to the usual Kraang Invasion battles in New York. Let's hope the boys actually Make some sort of progress....

victory_angel 01-24-2015 11:03 PM

So looking forward to this episode.

Picked out this song in honor of the Turtles return.

Does it really matter if they don't? I'm all for a bit of realism. If they go and bust in without an actual plan, I could see them legit failing. Going in, failing, regrouping, replanning, and then heading back in and coming out victorious, no problem.

CowabungaMikey 01-25-2015 07:51 AM

I can't wait. This was the longest week ever.

TigerClaw 01-25-2015 09:00 AM

And it begins. :)

TigerClaw 01-25-2015 09:02 AM

The new Party Wagon

NinjaPug 01-25-2015 09:03 AM

Cool new intro has Bebop, Rocksteady and Mondo Gecko in it.

veemonjosh 01-25-2015 09:04 AM

I'm digging the new opening. 8)

evan2000 01-25-2015 09:12 AM

Oh no, Splinter!

This is already the best ep of the series so far!

newhire13 01-25-2015 09:13 AM

Ha, and they just answered the questions people were just complaining about last week.

Luckyday 01-25-2015 09:15 AM

So far so good. :D
Just everything was

I hope that this is the episode that starts turning the wheels in motion.

evan2000 01-25-2015 09:18 AM

Shredder clones! I'm freaking out!

I'm holding The Works: Volume 3 as I type this!

NinjaPug 01-25-2015 09:21 AM

Hell yeah!!! Shredder clones!!!!

snake 01-25-2015 09:23 AM

Shredder clones! This episode is really good. I think the show got its stride back.

evan2000 01-25-2015 09:23 AM

Totally never expected them to incorporate Shredder clones in this ep! What are they going to surprise us with next? Zog? :tlol:

TigerClaw 01-25-2015 09:30 AM

Great episode, Looking forward to next week, Looks like Bebop & Rocksteady is the next episode.

TrickOrTreater 01-25-2015 09:31 AM

Bloody fantastic.

So much fun and awesome and great to have Splinter back.

CyberCubed 01-25-2015 09:32 AM

Interesting that they explained how the rest of the world isn't doing anything about NYC with the lockdown. And the EPF are taken over while everyone else is in another dimension.

Shredder clones were cool but I wish they got more screentime.

evan2000 01-25-2015 09:33 AM

Alright, no Zog, but this episode is awesome!

Epf were being mind controlled. They probably failed against the kraang.

lonewarrior20 01-25-2015 09:33 AM

wow, just wow.
new opening, excellent fights, and a lot of plot for just 25 minutes.
can't wait for next week with karai.

NinjaPug 01-25-2015 09:35 AM

Easily the best episode of the season and Top 5 all time for me. Loved every but of it.

Baxter in action again. Splinter losing his mind. Shredder clones. I'm glad this wasn't 'Return to New York' in name only.

The scene with Shredder talking to the Turtles/Splinter at the end reminded me of the scene at the construction site in Secret of the Ooze.

Next week looks great too with Bebop and Rocksteady coming.

Still doesn't explain why the kraang haven't invade the other cities.

CyberCubed 01-25-2015 09:37 AM

It seems like Shredder is also losing his mind over Karai, which is why he hadn't done anything in months and Tiger Claw was wondering what he was waiting for.

This episode really did explain a lot of the plotholes we were curious about. It might not have worked perfectly but in the context of the show it was done well. EPF mind-controlled, NYC on lockdown from the rest of the world, what Shredder was doing, where Splinter was, etc.

They'll probably attempt to do it later on.

Vicky82 01-25-2015 09:40 AM

Holy crap that was awesome episode it was intense, I kept on holding my breath. The music is getting better and better.

Love the new updated inrto.

Love the new turtle van.

Donnie hugging Dr Cluckingsworth, who's staying behind.

OMG Splinter gone feral and April gets through to him.

Holy crap, mutated shredder clones and one of them is killed by falling into a fan. :o

Loved the deer that breaths fire and burns Tiger Claw.

Trust Mikey to find a place to stay, abandoned Antonio's Pizza place.

Foombamaroom 01-25-2015 09:41 AM

Honestly, I wished they had more of a rivalry between Leo and Shredder in this episode. Having Leo give Shredder a really disgusted glare would've been perfect.

They're obviously working on something big since they are using all of New York as slave labor.

Bitsy83 01-25-2015 09:44 AM

K, just finished watching it.

There! Every "complaint" that people had for the last two months has been brought to light.

No Splinter? He went mad and reverted to his rat-side, disconnecting his human mind/soul from his body, making the scene all the more surprising.

Why isn't the EPF doing anything about the Kraang? Mind controlled. Probably got their butts handed to them.

Millions of people gone? Possible alternate "merged" dimension where they're being held. Makes sense to me. (I watch a lot of "Doctor Who." Stuff like this doesn't confuse me as much as it used to).

Karai's whereabouts are still up in the air. Maybe she did try to help Splinter, but he acted so much like a rat that she couldn't get through to him and feared that she'd give into to her Snake-form out of frustration....or hunger.

LOVE the opening! I was getting a bit tired of seeing Spike on Raph's shoulder since he's been Slash since the middle of season 2.

Shredder clones. K, honestly didn't see that coming. At first, I thought the "Shrimp Shredder" (OH! LET'S CALL HIM "SHRIMPER!") was going to be Kraang Sup-Prime.

And I love how Stockfly's lab is like a giant zoo.

Mikey wanting to hide out in an abandoned pizza joint. Why does this not surprise me? (I guess this will explain the return of Pizza Face later...)

Also, is Mondo Gecko SUPPOSED to be bad? I thought he was an ally?

All in all, I think we can finally breathe a sigh of relief that the show has not completely jumped the shark. The first 7 or so episodes was just to make the producers happy and get the fillers out of the way so they can make a complete 26-episode season.

I love that Leo was smart enough not to engage in a fight and to regroup instead. Our little Leo is growing up.

What mad you think he was bad? I barely caught that so maybe I missed something.

CyberCubed 01-25-2015 09:47 AM

I'm glad feral Splinter wasn't stretched out over a couple of episodes like I thought it would be. Glad they got Splinter back one and done like that

Jephael 01-25-2015 09:48 AM

Man that was a great episode! I loved the new opening animation. Kinda makes sense that they had to change everything since the original lair is pretty much totaled and the Shellraiser is long gone.

Well, in the new opening, he's skateboarding along side of Bebop, Rocksteady, and Tigerclaw. Plus I think they mentioned that the Turtles would fight him at the last Comic Con Panel. I could be wrong, though.

CyberCubed 01-25-2015 09:50 AM

Mondo was likely skateboarding with the Turtle van against the villains.

I liked that, too, but I wish that Leo still showed some disgust for Shredder. But in all actuality, as sickening as it is, Shredder pushed Leo to limits that Splinter could've never pushed him to, therefore making Leo a better ninja.

Oh, really? It happened so quickly it was hard to get a real look at it.

IndigoErth 01-25-2015 10:00 AM

Niiiiice. :tthumbsu:

Pretty much ditto on what all has already been said. Wow, new intro though. :teek:

So Raph painted "Venus" on the van? Or at least the name. Look at him gettin' all artsy.

Wonder if Splinter will notice Leo sounds different or if all acknowledgement of it in the series is done with. lol :trazz:

He was. I think Speed Demon was there too.
