How many of you are 30 this year?
I used to assume people of all sort of ages visit this forum, but just this week alone I already saw 5 people revealing themselves to be exactly 30 this year:

Hey, you posted my comment first. I never get picked first for anything. Thanks. LOL

I wish. Says one who will be 36 this spring. As slightly painful as some may find approaching 30, it's not so bad really. I got over it after a while. The 30s do seem to go quick though, even faster than the 20s. :ohwell:
|
Been there and done that. It's nothing special. It just is.
|
I'm 29. This is my last year in my 20's and I'm spending it the same way I have for the last decade.
Its not so surprising most of us are close in age. Most of us are from the original TMNT fad in the 80's so logically most of us were born around the mid-80's or early 90's. We all grew up with TMNT and Nintendo and that's why we all are what we are today. You'll be hard pressed to find many people around our age who weren't into Ninja Turtles and Nintendo when they were kids. |
I'm thirty-two now, and while being in my thirties isn't horrible, I do have more aches and pains than I had when I was twenty.
|
From exercising regularly and doing yoga, I actually have a ton less. All about how you live. I'm in twice as good of shape as I was ten years ago, inside and out.
|
I feel exactly the same now as I did when I was a teenager. I think I haven't changed at all in an entire decade. I weigh the same now as I did back then too.
When I got my current job most of my bosses thought I was some 19-20 year old right out of High School. When I told them I'm pushing 30 they were shocked and thought I was joking. I seriously do not look like an adult at all. |

I'm turning 34 this year. Feel about the same as I did at 30, only I'm unfortunately heavier since I drive everywhere for my current job as opposed to walking due to the distance.
|
Not too bad on aches and pains. Though the dry skin this time of year is worse then a decade a ago.
Then, depending on your genes, there's those pesky white hairs that might begin the show up soon. If they haven't already.:trazz: |

My cousins who were around 7 years older than me outgrew the fad when they became teens, while my sister just 4 years younger than me had much less exposure to the turtles as the popularity waned when she reached the age to watch cartoons. Not to mention the whole bunch of new cartoons and TV programs that were competing for kids' attention in the mid-90's, such as The Simpsons, The Disney Afternoon series, Looney Tunes, Power Rangers and later on Pokémon. No, no, there's always yoga. Anyone can do yoga if they find the right program. And once you do, it will change your life. Just check out the Arthur videos on ddpyoga.com if you don't believe me. Dude was like a cripple and now he's not. That program is a little pricey, but it's proven to work for absolutely anyone, so to me it's worth it. It doesn't have to be that program anyway, it's just the principles of yoga in general and a lot of even the most basic routines have a lot of the same foundation. 30 minutes a day absolutely can change a person's entire life around.
I've seen "cripples" walk and people with debilitating spinal injuries live free of pain, thanks to various types of yoga. So I don't accept excuses. To some degree, "getting old" and living in pain IS a choice and people don't have to accept it. I tell people every day at work, "You spend a lot more than 30 minutes a day bitching about your aches and pains, so why not take even less time than that to actually Fix It? Why CHOOSE to be hurt, if it's in any way up to you?" Most people agree, human beings are just procrastinators. One of my clients is in her 80s with a fake hip, and now she walks without a cane for the first time in ages. Nobody is going to tell me they "can't". Wii Fit honestly isn't that great. Some of the stuff they have a person do isn't quite right and you can kind of screw yourself up, especially with no feedback from a real spotter/trainer, so what you're telling me doesn't completely surprise. Some of the principles are the same but there's tons of better yoga and beginner exercise programs out there that cost a lot less and get better results. Either way, it's all out there for people if they wanna do something about it. I mean, I was 25 and my knees didn't bend. At all. I couldn't bend over or turn my head to one side. When I separated my shoulder I couldn't raise my arm and thought I'd have to quit wrestling. Then, I fixed it. No pills, no surgery, just a weekly chiropractic adjustment and a $6 yoga DVD. Literally in less pain than I've ever been in since I was 14. I'm in no way "special". I just got sick and tired of being sick and tired. That's the attitude people should have. It's really simple, when I do the program, I'm not in any pain, it only comes back if I stop for a while. That illustrates to me pretty clearly how much control we as people really have in the situation. "Do this and feel better, or don't and suffer." Well, I suffer in plenty of other ways in life, so I'm not going to be all creaky and achy if it's at all up to me. I choose to NOT be in pain. |
I wish I was turning 30, again, Although, I look young, my various extra padded socks, custom fitted shoe insoles, and compression clothing, that I need to wear to work, says that I'm twice that age. My girlfriend is 20 and it's hard to keep up with her energy, sometimes. I take naps, during the day, and she has to drag me out of bed if she wants to do something on our days off.
Stay young, enjoy it! 30 is like entering your last years of being young. Although, I don't want to scare anyone...so, much of feeling young depends on your health. |
I am 30 years old...:tsmile:
|
My birthday is in December so currently only 11 months till I turn 30. I almost feel like this is my last year of feeling young. I'm treating this year as if its the last year of my life.
|
Well, Leo, that's great for the people who want to do that stuff. I do exercise in my room, but it's hard when my knees hurt and I have tried some yoga poses I remember seeing on the Wii Fit. Mom never did the yoga stuff, but the Wii Fit did help her lose weight, and that's what she needed to do. But she just can't do it anymore because of her knees. She tried, and it was too much. I guess it just depends on people's pain tolerance. But good for those people.
And, Cubed, don't act like your life is over once you turn thirty because it's not. Sure, some things may change, but it's not the end of the world. |

Well, again, when I see people who've had full-on joint replacements, or spent years using crutches or a wheelchair, somehow reverse years of damage, it just makes me a little bit skeptical of the "pain tolerance" theory, is all I'm saying. Like, I've seen people who were missing an arm go to the gym, people with two artificial legs, etc. I just find it hard to believe that they're in any less pain than the next person.
Not dumping on anyone, just saying, I know what can happen when people decide "Okay, I'm just gonna Do Something About This." |
3 more years come may if I make it that far

Building muscles is a way to allow you to lose weight because muscles will help increase your metabolism, but not by much (maybe 25-50 more calories for each pound of muscles, a day. Eating spicy foods helps with increasing your metabolism, not by a lot and for long (also, you don't want to burn your stomach, eating spicy foods, every meal). But, yeah, calorie counting is the, only way to lose weight. Doing cardio will decrease your calorie intake. Eating salads w/out dressing benefits in filling up your stomach, making you feel fuller, and not taking in much calories, but it's not a healthy diet...it's a way to supplement and reduce the calories in your regular meals. Also, be careful when exercising. If you're sore or in pain, rest those muscles or you will injure yourself. You're not going to get instant results, it is a lifestyle change that your body will, eventually, adjust to by getting in the shape required for that lifestyle. |
I will turn thirty later this year.
|
30 in August :)
|
40 next week!
|
I have two more years to enjoy my 20s and then it's helloooo 30. I'm actually not that upset as I thought I would be. Then again, a lot can change in two years. Meep!

Um, Derek, I'm not fat. In fact, I'm thin though I'm not a twig. I do have some fat on my belly, but I'm not overweight. Just average to me, and I'm okay with that. |
10 more months until I turn 30. Its a shame my last year in my 20's isn't being spent on something special. Feels the same as any other year.

Same here. I could care less about my birthdays or how old I am. Age is just a number and nothing more. Best not to dwell on it and just live your life day by day. For all you know, Cubed, it might not be that bad at all.
