Stephen Amell Cast as Casey Jones
 

Stephen Amell has been tapped to play Casey Jones in “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2″ for Paramount and Platinum Dunes.

Megan Fox is set to return as April O’Neil. Will Arnett is also returning. David Green is directing the pic. Plot details and information on other returning cast members are still unknown.

A loner who becomes an ally of the turtles and a love interest for O’Neil, Jones is a fan favorite of the series going back to when Elias Koteas played in him the 1990 New Line pic.

Michael Bay is producing along with his Platinum Dunes partners Brad Fuller and Andrew Form. Josh Appelbaum and André Nemec are penning the script.

Amell tested with a half dozen actors over the weekend, but it was his eventual chemistry with Fox that led to the studio giving the role to the star of CW’s “Arrow.” Paramount had no comment on the casting.

The Turtles franchise is one of Paramount’s top properties following its success last summer, where it earned $191,204,754 domestically — so much so that Paramount dated the sequel for 2016 before even locking down a director or cast.

No clue who he is, but looking at pics.... alright, I could dig that.

Not familiar with his past work but.....based off a quick google image search I can see him playing Casey.

Now we just need the guy who plays Diggle for Baxter Stockman and Emily Bett Rickards to play Renet! Although honestly, I feel like the guy who plays Roy would make for a better Casey Jones. He's got a better unhinged street-level quality...

And now that I think of it, Katie Cassidy would play a pretty good April...

Not watched any of that; nor anything else in his filmography on IMDB. But if he can act (and already used to a vigilante role, say you guys?) then this is suitable eye candy enough. (Since, you know, male viewers get both Fox and a Victoria's Secret model now. lol :trazz:) I'll try not to find any complaints (unless the human actors once again take too much away from the Turtles).

hmmmm..... I love Arrow. Not sure I can see him as Casey, but I think I can get behind this

He's got nice abs, which is pretty much all I know about him at the moment.

Just for the heck of it, lets cast Grant Gustin as Casey's cousin, Sid. :tlol:

I never seen Arrow, But looking at him, He seems like a good fit.

I'm glad this info came out today and not tomorrow, leaving people an entire day (or more) of wondering if it's was true or not.

He's awesome in Arrow, good choice but he'll have to grow his hair out which would be fine in Arrow as well actually.

they can just give him a wig and make it look like his real hair.

So... the Arrow guy has been cast in the next horrible, ghastly TMNT movie? I hope no one is actually celebrating this... certainly not Arrow fans.

this is decent casting I think its one of the better casting decisions for this movie. Seems like all you do is complain about everything like a few others do on here

I realize this is your opinion, but I'm with Andrew on this one. I like Amell as Oliver Queen/The Arrow as much as the next guy, but not even him being casted in this movie is enough to excite me.

See I enjoyed the movie for what it was, it had plenty of flaws but could've been worse the internet definitely overreacted about it. I think a sequel could make things right. Amell is a good choice for Casey jones so I'm willing to give the sequel a shot.

Oh this is awesome.. He never crossed my mind as a potential choice but he deserves to be on the big screen. Hes terrific on Arrow and I think he'll do awesome! Great news

Its gonna be fun to see how Stephen Amell's Casey Jones, acts with Alan Ritchson's Raphael, Those two characters have good chemistry together.

It's gonna be fun to see when Raph discovers someone, Whose crazier then he is.

Not a bad casting move by any means, but the fact they're cramming Jones into this already insanely crowded film is a very bad sign for those of us who like, you know, the TMNT.

Oh well, I look forward to the turtles' cameo... :trolleye:

I actually don't hate this.

And what a surprise, they cast the GQ model-looking guy to play a hockey playing New Yorker.

Works well for Oliver Queen, pretty awful choice for Casey Jones.

Why is the film crowded? who else is in it besides the people already in the first movie? I haven't been keeping up.

The first film was crowded, so this one is crowded. It's worse now because you can add Bebop, Rocksteady, some random ass super model, & half of The Clippers to the mix, plus Casey.
& I imagine they'll need lab guys to do the mutating, so maybe Baxter or some other scientist(s) will factor in, not to mention any additional characters they wanna waste time on, be it April's roomie or employers, purple dragons (which were always Casey's motivation in past lore), etc.

I'd love to chime in, but I don't know the guy, at all. I guess I can watch an episode of Arrow.

How so? I'm legitimately confused.

:ohwell: Prob see them for about 10 min, a hour into the film. I guess they MIGHT show up at the end though for a minute.
