What's your age? Age survey of your average TMNT fan

Since most of us were around for the original Turtles fad of the 80's and 90's I imagine most TMNT fans are pretty much old fogey's. If we were kids in the 80's and 90's we would be adults now.

However the 4kids and Nick generation of TMNT brought in a whole new generation of younger fans as well. These new younger fans never experienced the first generation but grew up in the second or third gens.

So here's a survey. What's the age of your average TMNT fan here on the technodrome?

Prowler 04-17-2015 10:50 PM

I'm 24, born in 1990. But the 4Kids series was not my first exposure to the Turtles.

I was lucky to live in a place that rerun the FW series tons of times on tv back in the late 90s/early 00s. And since my older brother was into the Turtles I got to play a couple of video games as well.

It sucked there being no toys of the Turtles in stores back when I watched the FW series reruns, though.

senpai 04-17-2015 10:58 PM

I just turned 28 yesterday lol xD I'm gettin up there!

Slade 04-17-2015 11:14 PM

I turn 27 next month

IndigoErth 04-17-2015 11:51 PM

I'm not quite sure how to answer that. lol

At the moment I'd mark 30-35, but sadly I lose that group in four days. Tough decision, do I answer now and hold on to a fragment of my "youth," or do I wait and answer next week. lol (Also, how did I get to these numbers...)

Real answer: still 25 on the inside.

Me too  I am 24 now (turn 25 in october :D) and my first exposure was the next mutation. I know it´s nowere near to be great, but as a kid I didn´t want to skip even one episode!

evan2000 04-18-2015 12:45 AM

Voted 27-29 just before I turn 30 next month :P

pennydreadful 04-18-2015 01:47 AM

31 here - and remember, age is just a number, dude. Everyone gets old and dies eventually - it's inevitable.

Powder 04-18-2015 02:29 AM

Twenny fizzour.

joefsas 04-18-2015 02:40 AM

For some reason, I thought you was older than me.

Mew 04-18-2015 07:08 AM

I'm like 12, and I've seen all of the '87 toon, 2k3 toon, Next Mutation, and I'm up-to-date on the Nick cartoon.

plastroncafe 04-18-2015 07:13 AM

You're only as old as the woman you feel.

LeotheLateBloomer 04-18-2015 08:19 AM

I'll be 28, next month. I was born the year of the FW cartoon.

ABrown 04-18-2015 09:32 AM

Interesting. 19 of the first 30 people polled are between 27 and 35 years old. So let's just say right around 30. That would mean born around 1985 and kids during the original cartoon. Just goes to show that while the original cartoon might not have necessarily been the best TMNT cartoon, it's definitely the one that's most remembered and most responsible for creating TMNT fans.

One can say that it was also the one most advertised and had a pretty stable episode run date. Everything I've seen from 4kids and Nick, I had to catch online, because I rarely saw it during it's run time. And then there was the old toon's syndication, I would come home and get to watch it every day after school at about 4:30. No such luck with either the 4kids or Nick toon.

But hey, go figure, most people I know, if I was to ask them their favorite story line, it's always either Raph meeting Casey Jones or Leo/Raph getting beat by the foot, and neither were shown in the old toon.

Wesley 04-18-2015 10:28 AM

I'm 28 and my first introduction to the Turtles was the 1987 cartoon in the early 90s. I watched it for nearly a decade on TV when I was younger, as it was regularly rerun on Irish television from the mid 90s to late 00s. I also watched the 2003 cartoon in my late teenage years and early 20s.

PangolinFeets 04-18-2015 01:03 PM

Just turned 28, but in the best shape of my life. :)

Jephael 04-18-2015 01:04 PM

Happy birthday for 4 days from now :)

Leo656 04-18-2015 03:10 PM

Didn't we do this a couple months ago> Wasn't it a Cubed thread then, too? Yeesh.

32 and change, but I don't talk about it much.

MrPliggins 04-18-2015 03:23 PM

That shirt is hilarious. This thread does seem like deja vu...but. I will be 37 this year.

Shiro Kame 04-18-2015 06:00 PM

Wow, I sure am part of the minority here...

CyberCubed 04-18-2015 07:19 PM

Looking at the poll so far I suppose I was right, TMNT fans are OLD. Besides all the new little kids growing up with the Nick version, the rest of of us are heading toward middle age.

Redeemer 04-18-2015 07:49 PM

I feel like we are all pedafiles viewing this pole

nunchakuslash 04-18-2015 10:28 PM

I was born in 1984 on the 2nd of June, so I'm 30.

I'll use this quote, as my girlfriend is like 30, which is a better age than I am.
And plastroncafe, your avatar is so me, except I have a head!

keungkau 04-19-2015 09:41 AM

29 nearly 30 years old veteran fan:lol:

miru 04-19-2015 01:56 PM

I'm 18 right now.

sdp 04-19-2015 03:16 PM

I'm surprised more people aren't older here or I guess they haven't voted or don't post anymore, I remember when I first joined ten years ago most people were late 20s or early 30s and now that I'm in my late 20's I'd expect most members to be in their late 30s haha.

When I came here back in 2004 (which is now over 10 years ago, yikes), I remember a few people in their late 20's or early 30's....they probably either got bored of TMNT or just moved on from the fandom.

I was only 18 when I first came here...lol.

Lisardo 04-19-2015 08:08 PM

I'm 35, and was about 7 - 9 years old when I originally saw the OS TMNT cartoon back in the late 80s. Tho as I recall, I only saw a little bit of the toon before the 1990 movie came out, so I really grew up with both of them at the same time.

bushido 04-20-2015 07:30 PM

Turn 31 today. Born in 84 like the brothers.

Jester 04-20-2015 07:31 PM

30 until the 27th July.

....good god....I've forgotten how old I am.
