Oh man, I posted about this the same time you did, and I cant delete the thread.

Interesting. Maybe the ooze from the canister he broke in the first film rejuvenated and healed his scars? Hopefully this means Oroku Saki appearance in a suit and just just him running around in his Shredder exoskeleton.
|
Not entirely surprising. They were in a rush to find an Oroku Saki that would pass at a glance during the first "film"'s reshoots... now they probably want to actually have an Oroku Saki with better acting chops. To better order around Bebop and Rocksteady or talk about turtle soup again or whatever further wackiness is planned that I have no interest in.
Mr. Tee was pretty fun and venomous as the villain in Tokyo Drift. If this was a real Turtles movie I wouldn't be against him at all... with this, I just pity him. |
Why not keep the same actor ? What a mess !
Edit : Agree with you Andrew NDB. That's a good explanation. |
ohh
Such a star studded cast, such a sh*tty script. It's movie 43 all over again

While I generally enjoyed Tohoru Masamune in the role and liked the fact he was the only one who did actual research into the franchise, not that anyone would listen to him but I really liked that if he had his way he'd have liked to see the full Saki origin from the original comics but the fact that he was quickly cast at the last minute as essentially a minor role (which is what Shredder was in the finished product) I think there was always a danger they'd procure a bigger name for the sequel. Of course there's something of an irony of them ditching an actor who hasn't done much mainstream work when the director is someone who hasn't done much mainstream work. |

Can they recast April next :D |
What happened to Tohoru Masamune? Too bad, he seemed very grateful to have the role, & I liked him in it, bad script aside. This guy's good, but like Andrew said, it's a waste of talent.
|
I'm not familiar with Brian Tee, I hope hes good with the martial arts, Considering hes playing such a high profile role.

Shredder, you're so young!
Wait, wait... this guy is still in his 30s and we're to recall he raised William Fichtner's character, Eric Sacks. https://p.gr-assets.com/540x540/fit/...76/8170269.gif He might make a good Shredder, it's nothing against him at all. But seriously, screw it, clearly we're dealing with an alien Krang Shredder here. |
This is interesting, Cause all this echoes what happened with Secret of the Ooze, Since they recast the Shredder in that.
|
At least he's Asian. Every time I think about how bad this movie franchise is, I still "thank god" they didn't go with the white Eric Sachs Shredder.
|
Supposedly the original dude was confirmed weeks back, right? & this dude's a lot younger? Are we supposed to believe that the mutagen, rather than turning him into Super Shredder, made him youthful & stronger? :tlol:

Maybe we're seeing him as younger Shredder in flashbacks?
Anti-aging mutagen, the new "stupid rich" scheme. Oil of Shredder Olay. |
I wonder if he'll be Oroku Saki and if they'll say The Shredder from movie 1 was his grandfather or father or something. This movie already feels like a soft reboot.

What is it with BayTurtles throwing actors under the bus with this series?
I mean, the guy who played Baxter in the last one was recast, Tohoru Masamune has been recast, Pete Ploszek got hipchecked out of the way with his voice acting for Leo in favor of Knoxville, and Danny Woodburn got the same treatment with Tony Shalhoub. Makes you wonder who's going to be next on the chopping block. |

Why do I have a feeling that, if there ends up being multiple films, this is going to be a revolving door in Hollywood; that keeps turning until everyone gets their chance. Passed around like that shell shocked song suggested.
|
For those not familiar with Brian Tee, Check him out as Liu Kang in Mortal Kombat Legacy 2.
|
if they play it smart, they could write the first shredder off as Oroku Nagi

So, wow. They've actually hired a few actors who seem halfway appropriate for their roles! So can we just reboot this already and not waste the talent? |
So at this point we've had three different actors cast as Shredder and the 2nd movie haven't even filmed yet! Who knows, we might get a 4th guy cast in the role before it finally gets released!
|
The recasting of Shredder doesn't bother me, Cause Shredder was recast in Secret of the Ooze. and that turned out ok.
Btw, Brian Tee can currently be seen in Jurassic World, When it comes out. |
This has to be a different version of the Shredder we got in the 1st movie, right?
|
This new Shredder should be better, Since this actor can do martial arts, Perhaps we will see him wearing a more stripped down version of the armor, and not be CGI.
|
Would be nice, but wouldn't hold my breath on that. Either way we're still dealing with film makers who are the "go big or go home/bigger is better" sorts that don't understand subtlety or how to make it work.

So wait, if this guy is the Shredder......who the heck was the other guy? Some random old Japanese guy??? :tconfuse:

We'll probably get some ******** plot point where Splinter wasn't learning from the ninjitsu book in the original; he was remembering. But then again, we could have a Trevor Slattery/Aldrich Killian, Mandarin type situation. In that film, those two knuckleheads stole the idea and legend of The Mandarin, and used it for their own personal gain. Of course, that came back to bite Slattery in the ass in the "All Hail The King" short, when agents for the TRUE Mandarin kidnapped Slattery so he could have a "talk" with him. So yeah, I guess it is possible we'll see the real Shredder (the one pictured in Eric Sach's mural, or an ancestor) appear. |
