Brittany Ishibashi To Play Karai In TMNT2!
|
Looks like we both posted this news at the same time, Unfortunately, I cannot delete the thread.
|
Huh, I donno. I liked Noji, she just didn't have absolutely anything to work with.
I guess Noji was deemed too old, gods forbid a woman over 40 is in a movie. |

Wow another recast, shame they didn't get someone to replace Megan Fox.
I never heard of Brittany Ishibashi, I have to look her up. |
she's cute hope she pulls it off:)

Maybe the mutagen Shredder was exposed to in last film has reverse aging? Quote:
With all the villians making an appearance, plus the addition of Casey, I wonder how much screen time secondary villains like Karai will even get - I want to see her get treated well, but I would much rather the Turtles square off against Bebop and Rocksteady, than Karai, and more Foot. |
I like her look. I guess if you recast Shredder 20 years younger, you gotta do the same for his daughter.

It's confirmed that the sequel will be more of a soft reboot. It looks like they are ashamed of the first film. Can we blame them for that ? Probably not...:trolleye: I admit to being more and more intrigued now.

while I agree, this certainly feels like a soft reboot, I just wanted to know if internal sources actually admitted to it. |
She is hot, but I really can't get excited over this casting. Karai was so terribly underused in the first film I doubt they'll be able to do a better job this time.

Was it ever stated in the movie that Karai was Shredder's daughter?
I know the game reveals it in a journal entry, but that game deviates from the movie story and kept Sacks as Shredder. |

my apologies if my comment made it seem like I was poking fun at older women. certainly not my intention. |

Overall all the recasting just seems like they are reshaping the movie across the board, honestly probably the best thing to do. They tried so late in the game with the first film that it makes sense that they'd take the opportunity to do it from the ground floor with this one.

They're casting and recasting parts that didn't matter if they were recast or not. The first actors in these roles were mostly fine, what little we saw of them.
It's not a matter of casting, idiots in charge of this movie. It's a matter of how poorly you utilized the actors and characters in your sh*t first movie. Recasting just because will do nothing to help the awful script you're probably writing. |
I think they are aiming to make it like the 80s cartoon with dashes of the Nick cartoon. The most popular versions of TMNT. They're casting to fit what they're trying to do with the story as opposed to casting to fill a role really quick, like the previous Shredder for example.
|
So how does Noji feel about this? I would be pissed if I was her.
I find interesting how this movie series keeps recasting characters. First the voice actors for Leo and Splinter were changed, then the movie was reshot to make Sacks and Shredder seperate characters, then the actor who played Shredder there was replaced for this one, Baxter made a brief cameo but the actor who played him was replaced and now there's this. I find it amusing that the casting that received the most negative response, Fox as April, is pretty much the only thing that hasn't been subject to change... |
I don't think she'd necessarily be pissed, it's Hollywood and it's acting. It happens. Often.
|
This is incredibly stupid.
How many cast members have they recast for this sequel? Everyone's probably leaving because working on the first film was such a goddamn train wreck. I liked Karai in the first one. |

Which just means they're throwing as many beloved characters into it as they possibly can(throwing in Bebop, Rocksteady, Casey Jones, Shredder, Karai, Baxter Stockman, and now possibly Krang proves that), just to further appeal to nostalgia and trick people into seeing it. Again. And yeah, if this was any other movie or if the first one didn't exist at all or was at all good in anyway, I'd be super friggin excited. Quote:

That's why she's still around. That's the only reason. |

Not necessarily. Like it or not it's what most people think of when they think TMNT. I guess it sucks if you don't like that version but not so much for probably most of the general audience.
And I don't see your point with the quote. They added in characters and they are casting/recasting actors to fit what they want to do. It's as simple as that. Liking the story is a whole other thing. "Trick people into seeing it"? Lmao. Yeah I don't think it's some weird conspiracy like that. If people like what they see and want to check it out then cool, they can! |
According to Deadline, Karai will be Shredder's (Mike Tee) daughter in this film.

Comicbookmovie.com made a very good point. Quote:
I'm guessing that the Shredder in the last movie might have been her grandfather. |

Nagi/Saki would be the smartest way for them to get themselves out of that corner.

But nah, they made a bad situation worse. Caucasian Shredder would have been far preferable... |
