turtlefanforever 06-03-2015 12:34 PM

nice

But if the walker is the same price as the Android body krang that's an easy pass for me

Autbot_Benz 06-03-2015 12:43 PM

Playmates has been served so badly with this awesomeness.

Playmates is going to do some serving soon if these things get more popular...

they can't sue this company because they aren't using the copyrighted names that Playmates owns. 3rd party companies come up with their own unique names to keep them from getting sued.

That is one of the most paper thin legal excuses ever.

I'm going to start making Mikey Moose action figures that look just like Mickey Mouse and see how long it takes before Disney sues the **** out of me :tlol:

by your posts Hasbro should have sued all the 3rd party companies making Transformers figures but they haven't. Playmates doesn't care as they are done making classic stuff for the adult collector.

Just because they haven't been sued doesn't really make it ok. Most of the time it just isn't worth the companies time to sue these small companies that often times are in china, in which they can't do much about it.

And I'm not discounting these figures, they look nice and obviously playmates doesn't have any interest in making figures like these, so in my opinion, let other companies make them.

JayDubs 06-03-2015 01:48 PM

I need that walker in my collection. That looks amazing... Led light too!

cloud 06-03-2015 02:02 PM

From what I've heard it might have something to do with the 3rd party figures often go with designs that haven't been made so Hasbro or Takara can't really sue them because they haven't made that character or design.
That and they shy away from calling the characters their real names.
A bit of a loop hole there.

As for the 3rd party for the TMNT, I guess it's a similar case as they are new sculpts and the more amorized design is a new and original idea that Playmates didn't do.

DVD 06-03-2015 03:18 PM

Ok, I was expecting Shred Head, but the walker was a surprise.
I hope they bring these out close to each other, time wise.
I would also expect a twin pack with the NT 1 and NT 2 together. Maybe!
With the same care and attention that went into NT1, I'm expecting these to be awesome.

grizzlyaddams 06-03-2015 03:59 PM

I will buy both of these. Surprised another Krang is the second in the line but if I can have the walker to match the body then so be it! As long as it comes with another brain!

I was thinking the walker would be cheaper than then body but honestly $110 for something that is still pretty large with that much detail (in the concept) wouldn't be TOO, too much. Here's hoping though.

I'd love to see a concept for the Shredder too.

Can we try to keep this thread for any news or announcements regarding these upcoming figures? It was great that the "Look at this Classics Krang!" thread I was already in ended up being the same one where I found the production links months later.

TheCanadiandrome 06-03-2015 04:15 PM

omg my keyboard is gonna short with all the drooling over i'm doing! jesus god yes please do these and make em happen! :o :o :thyper::tthumbsu::cool:

Powder 06-03-2015 04:48 PM

Siiiiiiiiiick. The walker is an unexpected choice but I kid you not I had a feeling they were gonna do it.

Will be dope to have a Shredder as amazing as Krang.

turtlefanforever 06-03-2015 05:34 PM

nah

It will be, but it shouldn't be anywhere near what we had to pay for the Krang and Android body.

The Fifth Turtle 06-03-2015 07:43 PM

Passing on the walker but am highly anticipating that Shredder!

The Boston Ninja Turtle 06-03-2015 08:52 PM

gimmie now

turtlefanforever 06-03-2015 08:59 PM

it's cool

but only way i get that walker is if it's around a $50 price point which it should be but wont be

ctt4lfecw 06-03-2015 09:49 PM

Shredder I've always wanted here I come!

DVD 06-03-2015 09:49 PM

Price point will be, interesting.
The Lunar price for Krang was heavily influenced by postage. The walker will unlikely be any lighter so I'd expect a similar price .
Still, it's a good sign that the line isn't stalking at the starting line.

Redemption 06-03-2015 11:38 PM

Well take my money!

Agent 86 06-03-2015 11:40 PM

Shredder!

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Shredder will be in the 6-7" scale.

I'm interested in Walker Krang, but I'll be saving for, and then spending my money on, Shredder first and foremost.

I really hope that Shredder is as heavily influenced by the animated design as the Android Body Krang was. I don't mind if he has a few more details in his armour (e.g. what appear to be armoured toe caps), but I'd like Shredder to be able to "fit" with Playmates' turtles.

LeonardosBane 06-03-2015 11:53 PM

I see a lot of confusion about the legal situation, I'm no lawyer, but I'm pretty sure it works like this:

Playmates could sue (or otherwise pursue legal action against) First Gokin, and they would win - if First Gokin was an American company selling these in America (and in fact they would have to sue if they wanted to protect their rights). They're a Chinese company selling them in China, so the legal protections Playmates has are paper thin - they could sue, but they would probably lose. There's a lot of knock off stuff that comes out of China, and the government usually sides with the Chinese companies.

The protections in the US are different. I believe this would be considered copyright infringement. As someone said, you can't just change the name and sell something that's obviously based on someone else's intellectual property. It happens a lot with Transformers but, again, those companies are all located in China.

I for one appreciate what First Gokin is doing, and hope we see many more figures from them. Playmates really dropped the ball with their Classics line, and it's nice to see someone else pick up the ball and run with it.

Darth Knuckles 06-04-2015 02:15 AM

Wow these both look great! I'll have to wait and see them with actual pictures first but they look wonderful so far. Krang's Bubble Walker looks like a great modified version from the Original Cartoon just like his Android Body from First Gokin was. I can't wait to see more Shredder too! It's also very smart of First Gokin to already build hype for these right after they released their first figure in this line. Keep up the good work.

That's not even remotely how copyright works.

anybody have a release date?

This pretty much is exactly what I was saying, or maybe trying to say.

If this company was making them in America, Playmates would sue and win. Since it is a chinese company, nothing will happen.

Regardless, these look good, and Playmates flat out refuses to make anything like this so I am glad they are making them. Hell, maybe this will get playmates to make their own versions to compete.

slashpieturtlemix 06-04-2015 01:13 PM

I am getting both of those! Also a USA company cant sue a Chinese company for rights infringement. That is why all these designing companies are in China. They don't use the name and they still sell the figures. Hasbro couldn't stop the companies so I think Playmates can't either.

HotJuicyBurgers 06-04-2015 02:02 PM

What was the price of the Krang android they released?

Powder 06-04-2015 02:39 PM

Between $150 & $175 for the most part.

Thanks

I'm not sure I would be able to justify that for the Krang Walker... MAYBE for the Shredder if he looks really nice.:twink:

grizzlyaddams 06-04-2015 03:48 PM

I'm more of a "what's it worth to me" kind of person as opposed to its production and materials value. Having paid about $155 shipped for the Android Body Krang, it was definitely worth it, to me.

Would I pay $150 shipped for the walker? Maybe. But I couldn't decide until I had seen it's scale and detail. ~$100 shipped would be an almost instant buy though, understanding that $35 alone of the original price was shipping.

Honestly if I want the thing (whatever the current thing is) and it's a fixed price, I usually buy it. I'm not going to get it cheaper elsewhere. I paid $150 locally for Legacy Titanus without hesitation, and I probably would've paid the original $200 price if I had the money/stock was available at the time.

I routinely pay $50 to $60 for a single SH Figuarts, and scale and material wise I'm sure some people would probably balk at the price.

Hell I want a Pink Ranger Figuarts really badly but the price just keeps climbing, and people are still buying them every day despite this, so I know I'm not alone!

Over the past few months I probably put $800 into restoring and upgrading an old Amiga computer to play games on hardware that I could've easily emulated for free.

ctt4lfecw 06-04-2015 07:46 PM

First Gokin has my support 110%. After Krang, they will always have my support. About time someone stepped up to the plate for the older collectors. Shredder will be worth every penny. I can't wait to see a clear picture of him.

$150 for walker is an EASY pass for me. Overpriced, no matter how much work went into it considering the android body was the same price
