Are the Kraang male or female?

I was rewatching Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Showdown and Showdown Part 2 today, and I realized Kraang Prime's voice. Is it a female, because it does sound like it, or is it a male with a very high voice. Also, can the other Kraang be males, not me males, be females, or not be females. I find this interesting, since in the 1987 toon, it was obvious Krang was a male. So, are the Kraang male or female?

PangolinFeets 07-22-2015 06:34 PM

I always thought of them as genderless.

Metalwolf 07-22-2015 06:35 PM

It's voiced by Rosie O'Donnell, so it has a female voice. I think though it's been confirmed by Ciro that Kraang Prime is male, unless I'm thinking of Kraang Sub-Prime.

no Kraang Prime was voiced by Rosanne Barr not Rosie o Donnell

What?

It's voiced by Roseanne Barr, dog.

GoldMutant 07-22-2015 06:40 PM

Considering the confusion spreading because of Kraang Prime voiced by Rosanne, who is female, I see the issue. I mean, there were debates back near the end of 2014 of this topic.

Kraang Prime is male, Ciro confirmed it. Though Rosanne's voice can most certainly confuse newcomers to TMNT, such as with DBZ with Frieza originally voiced by a female originally in Linda Young before DBZ Kai replaced Linda with Chris Aryes.

The rest of the Kraang is all up for debate, but even though Nolan North does the voice giving a robotic tone, there's nothing to make the Kraang sound different outside KP and Gilbert Gottfried as Kraang Sub-Prime. Regular droids are more likely as genderless because of this.

victory_angel 07-22-2015 06:41 PM

Well Kraang Prime was voiced by Roseann Barr, but all the Kraang themselves are voiced by Nolan North. Kraang prime was confirmed to be male, and no it hasn't been established how the Kraang are able to reproduce.

Particularly since we have that line where Donnie essentially says the mother of the Kraang as a prostitute and the Kraang he's talking to says that showed how ignorant he ways about the Kraang and "The one which he calls mother..." was cut off.

Usually with bugs such as ants and bees the drones are all females and the queens gestate the new members of the colony. So maybe there is more about the kraang that we have yet to learn.

Splinter the boss 07-22-2015 07:47 PM

I think they are all males, because all the kraangdroids sound male. Even the kraangdroids with the suits chose to appear as males. I do not count Mrs. Campbell because she is just a kraangdroid without a kraang inside.

shredder orokusaki 07-23-2015 01:28 AM

They are male because they robot bodies are dressed like men in suits also their voices are male voices. And they are soldiers.

neatoman 07-23-2015 03:16 AM

Does it matter what they are? They don't really seem to have sexual dimorphism, so they're probably an asexual species. Like Namekians or Gems.

That last thing was incredibly sexist. I'm not even saying this for laughs. I know you're mentally handicapped but saying women can't be soldiers is a new low for you. Go to your room and think about what you've done.

I wish Prime would have been female. Him being the queen would make so much sense.

I agree with this. And while it doesn't really matter, it is interesting how the voice of Kraang Prime is female, but it is officially male, and how the disguise of the Kraang robots are obviously based on human men.

Allio 07-23-2015 02:43 PM

if going by Hive mindset like Bees and Ants, Krang prime is female and all the other are males

Ceres 07-23-2015 03:00 PM

weird, in german version of the cartoon it's stated that Kraang Prime is female hence the voice *shrug*. I think i prefer to think that all Kraang have both genders inside them.

Sheer boredom.

Lethal Lullaby 07-23-2015 11:43 PM

Kraang are genderless until further notice. What I think anyways.

I'm voting genderless. Android bodies are simply the result of the entertainment industry (and humanity...) always making 'male' the default of things.

Although given human women's shape, one would think that a female android would be more roomy in the hip region and therefor more comfortable for the Kraang to be in. :P

I guess this is a luxury only afforded to Kraang Subprime.

Though, given that Roseanne Barr voices Kraang Prime, it would be pretty harmless and a very small, negligible detail to simply suggest (probably not even in the show itself) that it's a queen bee kind of situation.

Really? The cursing bothers you, but that twisted, schizophrenic nitwit in the thread two doors down blabbering on and on about beating his meat to demon tentacle porn amongst other things doesn't even phase you?

Powder 07-24-2015 09:31 PM

It doesn't bother me, but the mods seem to really hate it as they think it's people skirting around the word filter. That's all. Just looking out, yo.

I'm not sure I've seen whatever it is you're talking about but if you have I'd encourage you to report it.

Yeah I understand and appreciate it.

Just of all the many, many years of being a fan I find hearing the pointless discussion of is/are Krang/Utroms/the Kraang male or female countless times really annoying to the point where my honest first reaction actually is "who gives a sh*t?" Gender obviously plays no role in their purpose.

We're talking about an advanced technological race of inter-dimensional, war-faring, alien beings who are hell-bent on terraforming our mudball into their own personal playground base camp and all everyone wants to know is "But does it have a wiener?"

C'mon.

Powder 07-24-2015 10:34 PM

I'm with you, mane. Society is way too fixed up on unimportant sh*t like this, & it wouldn't bother me as much if it didn't pour into my cartoons, comics, & games.

ssjup81 07-24-2015 10:48 PM

I always viewed them as genderless...until Kraang Prime...so now, I view them like some others say...like a bee colony or an ant colony.
