Wha...?

NO! This shouldn't be happening!

neatoman 07-29-2015 11:19 AM

Oh great, it's on my birthday. Not really what I wanted for my birthday nor is it the TMNT spin-off I was hoping for, but I guess it's the thought that counts...

OrangeNinja1987 07-29-2015 11:22 AM

Woah! :teek:
Well, looks pretty dumb and adorable at the same time. Why are the dinosaurs wearing ninja gear? Will the turtles still be played by Seth Green, Greg Cipes, Sean Astin, and Rob Paulsen?
Anyway, I like the turtles' designs. Are they still supposed to be teenagers in this or have they been made younger to appeal to even more little kids?

Vicky82 07-29-2015 11:22 AM

It looks like it's aimed for younger children but It looks pretty cool and i'm going to watch it.

They look so cute.

neatoman 07-29-2015 11:43 AM

So what's the concensus on this thing? Strangle it like Homer does to Bart or kill it with fire?

biganimefan 07-29-2015 12:08 PM

honestly I find it quite cute! I will definitely give it a look. To be fair though, I think this is a pretty good move on Nick's part. Give a chance to have the kids have age appropriate material. I've seen kids as young as 3 being obvious fans of Turtles and quite frankly, the Nick series is not exactly appropriate for that audience.

That being said, now what we need is a cartoon more along the lines of the 2003 series but more mature(PG-13 rated definitely) and air it on Adult Swim

TheBlueTurtle1 07-29-2015 12:09 PM

They are all paired with the cave turtle dinos from the 80s figure line!

 That is awesome.

Okay, now I'm slightly more interested in this.

matteso586 07-29-2015 01:13 PM

This is probably not related to season 4. Or three, depending on the airings.

No it's not related to the main series at all. It's just a tv special by possibly aimed for younger children.

Chaotix12345 07-29-2015 01:28 PM

This looks max adorbs. Excited to see more of this, as it looks like a fun ride. Donnie's T-Rex from that still is giving me some major Transformers Animated vibes...

plastroncafe 07-29-2015 01:36 PM

OMG! This is adorable!

What's the big issue ? They're making a special that's aimed at kids I don't see how it's a problem at all.

marcelangelo 07-29-2015 01:39 PM

oh my god, this is disappointing...;(

Autbot_Benz 07-29-2015 01:40 PM

This doesn't surprise me one bit as Playmates puts more work into their half shell hero line then they do the main 5 inch nick toyline.

I guess he like myself was hoping for a completely different spin off than THIS...

How is it disappointing?
It's a show for little kids. What the hell is there to complain about?

IndigoErth 07-29-2015 01:44 PM

The obvious toy selling (and previous toys) connection is not even disguised one bit, so kind of feels far too obviously driven by the toy company. So can't give points for simply and sincerely making a special just because; since the "because" is "because toys."

However, it looks adorable and will have to check this out for sure. And something that brings new younger TMNT fans into the fold is a plus. Though I immediately feel this will become a thing, such as all those times they've come out with a new Barbie and there is a Barbie video to match... that sort of thing. I predict there will be more of these specials. Not a bad thing in and of itself, but wish it wasn't really all about selling stuff. Way to be super obvious Playmates. So when can we expect those dino toys?

(Though admittedly if they re-do the dino/Turtle sets in this, I might have to have one if it's cute enough. I don't know how I never saw in stores or owned the original Leo with my fave dino as a kid.)

Edit: Although, going by the article, I'll be curious how they work Triceritons and whatnot into this. The Helf-Shell line always seemed like Turtle tots and this looks like it. Are the Triceritons going to be kids? lol

Maybe this is their answer to people wanting to see Turtle tots. Would be nice to see the Turtles as little kids in the show, but given the medium... 2D does make more sense in time and financial terms.

first of all, I am not complaining..I was just uttering an opinion.
I don't approve of taking my turtles in this kiddy boobo bubbly super cute sweety because it sells at this very moment direction...this is why my notions towards this release are rather unsupportive.
to everyone who enjoys this kind of thing: enjoy it.I am happy for you.

Autbot_Benz 07-29-2015 01:45 PM

I was hoping for a Mutanimals spin off but I am not surprised at all by this

This right here, is how I feel about the original toon, and most things that are derived from the original toon.

Is there any word if they're going to use the same VA cast from the Nick toon for this iteration? (I can't see why they wouldn't, though...man, I hope it's more nuanced than just those guys going all baby-talk.)

Leofan26 07-29-2015 02:22 PM

Yah, I think I'll be skipping this :ohwell:

CyberCubed 07-29-2015 02:26 PM

As long as this is just a one-off thing and doesn't become a series like Teen Titans Go, I have no problem with it.

PangolinFeets 07-29-2015 02:38 PM

YES! Cute baby turts with big dumb dino pets? Its like it was made for me.

Well, made for a 5-year old...but also me.

Powder 07-29-2015 02:38 PM

Awesome, more turtles media! & in 2D! & just 2 days before my birthday! Siiiick. It's a thinly veiled toy commercial, but I don't even care. We never get specials, so this is really cool.

Raph 07-29-2015 02:43 PM

I like it too, I like the Halfshell Hero look, and to see an traditional animated special seems cool to me!
Will def. watch this.

I would love nothing more than a TMNT-style Teen Titans Go!
That show is awesome!

But that show isn't like that. At all. Its more of a self-aware satire.

Why wouldn't they use the same voice cast? Its made by the same people and with the same Nick designs. There's no point for them to recast.

Maybe I'm just a fan of the original Teen Titans Go series and don't understand what makes it good. They make a mockery of Robin and ruined the Starfire / Robin pairing that series took three seasons building up to. I'd hate for them to that to Leo and the turtles, Raph would be like Piggy of Muppet Babbies

sdp 07-29-2015 03:10 PM

So this is the spin-off that was rumored? Cool idea. I'm guessing this special is being paid by the company that makes those figures. It's something extra that doesn't affect the main show, I don't see why people are all upset about it. It's not like the Nick show is for adults, it's just as much for kids.

I never watched the original Teen Titans 'toon, and I'm not really inclined to do so anytime soon. However....Teen Titans Go! is crazy pants. It's a Post-Modern takedown of Super Heroes packaged as sweetness and light.

Getting to hear Khary Payton perform a a live, acoustic "All I Know Is Pain" at this year's SDCC was one of my Con Highlights.

I think that's the problem. The original Teen Titans was a great and well written action cartoon, and that's why TT Go is poorly received because it feels like a parody of it.

You mean why you poorly receive it. The parody part is accurate though, it's a lampoon, after all.

Me not watching it isn't a problem. I've no interest.

Meliwen 07-29-2015 03:45 PM

This actually reminds me of what they're doing with Transformers. We had Transformers: Prime for the big kids (now Robots in Disguise), and Rescue Bots for the little kids. Two separate shows airing at the same time for different demographics. I think it's a great idea, and this looks adorable.

I've never seen Teen Titans Go, but Rescue Bots is a great show, so despite the younger appeal this can still be really fun to watch.

I get that showing the Turtles as kids can be a cute thing... but there's something seriously creepy about the 30, 40 year-olds around here and elsewhere actively demanding and campaigning to see the TMNT as small children on a regular basis.

Seek help, people. Before you hurt someone, or worse.

BubblyShell22 07-29-2015 04:09 PM

What's wrong with wanting to see the Turtles as kids? I love Turtle Tots, and I'm glad they're doing a special like this as it gives younger kids a way to get into TMNT and older fans the chance to see the Turtles as kids. I'm all for it, and I'll definitely be tuning in to this show.

It IS a parody of it. I'm not into TTG's style of humor, but I also realize that it shouldn't be compared to the original series because they're vastly different. TT was an action series while TTG is pure comedy.

I wouldn't mind an ep or two about their being kids which shows how they chose their mask colors and chose their weapons and how Splinter adapted to his new life with the turtles for this incarnation.
