Spoilers for the Turtles in Space arc

If you want to spoil the start of the Turtles in Space story arc, then head to your local bookstore (or Amazon) and take a look at the new children's book "Mutants in Space!" It looks like the book is an adaptation of the first three episodes of the Turtles in Space arc - the "Annihilation" two parter and the subsequent episode (whose name I already forgot). I didn't read it because I don't want to spoil the show for myself, but I thought I would pass it along.

neatoman 08-13-2015 01:04 PM

Cool, spoil away dudes! I don't care, just put it in spoiler tags for others.

One of those books also show Mona Lisa, I bet it's based on an episode from season 4.

TurFlytle 08-13-2015 02:01 PM

It's weird how they're basically spoiling Season 4 episodes in books months away from their airdate.

That's kinda old news at this point.

I'm currently reading it. BLAME MY BOYFRIEND!!! He saw me caving and convinced me to get it! I'm halfway through, but popular 2k3 character does come back, but if I said who and how they are presented, I might cause a riot....

Ok, people need rest. :D

Foombamaroom 08-13-2015 09:31 PM

It's gotta be Bishop.
IT BETTER BE BISHOP.
GIVE ME DAT BISHOP YO. #PLEASEGIVEUSBISHOP2K15

And don't sleep. The fandom is more important. THE FANDOM IS MORE IMPORTANT. If a popular 2003 character comes back, WHY DIDN'T YOU JUST SAY THE NAME, YO?!

It has to be. He's the only popular person in 2k3 besides Ch'rell that has something to do with aliens.

Who said this character needed anything to do with aliens?

Just saying, it's in the Turtles in Space arc and Bishop is a popular 2k3 character.

RandomtasticFantasy 08-14-2015 06:07 AM

I wonder why anyone would riot though if it is Bishop. Wonder if it's like Hun, where he's more or less INO to some people.

cookie jar 08-14-2015 06:56 AM

Spoiler:
I got a novel "Mutants in Space". And yes, Bishop appears and he is an Utrom.

BubblyShell22 08-14-2015 06:58 AM

Whoa. Didn't see that coming. Kind of cool though considering how he was in 2K3.

So, Utroms are in the 2012 series. I knew it. Makes a bit of some sense. I guess being an Utrom is a better origin than all of a sudden having an extended lifespan and superpowers thanks to aliens. I dunno, I'll see what his origin is and why he's hunting aliens (which he is). I bet he's going to be voiced by Steve Blum.

Not a Kraang? A real Utrom this time? If that's the case, well I guess I would normally be weirded out, but an actual Utrom seems like a nice twist...

yellowmario27 08-14-2015 07:16 AM

question

Spoiler:
does he look like the 2003 bishop?

An uteom andkraang are not the same thing? Agent Bishop is what he hates? I dont know how I feel about it, but it is ironic.

Chaotix12345 08-14-2015 07:34 AM

Spoiler:
Ooooooooh, now THAT'S certainly interesting. Awesome to see Bishop (Apparently) confirmed for the Nick show so soon and if this info is accurate, then that's a REALLY cool twist on him! If he's a rogue Kraang that broke off from the hivemind years ago because he knew what they were doing was wrong or came to love the Earth from living on it for so long, that's a great way to bring the Utroms in. Plus, with him (assumedly) forming the EPF specifically to fight against the Kraang, it's kind of like a good version of what Ch'rell did once he landed on Earth in 2k3. XD

This is happening at the PERFECT time since I just finished rewatching 2k3 Seasons 3 and 4. Looking even more forward to Annihilation Earth now. :D

Papenbrook 08-14-2015 07:41 AM

Spoiler:
So, I guess Bishop WON'T be a major villain for the turtles?...WOW....(CyberCubed is gonna be ticked...)

Spoiler:
I bet Kraang are like mutated Utroms, exposed to the air of Dimension X and mutagen. Since it can't mutate Kraang, it means that they would just stay in their Kraang form due to the effect of it. But, what happens if retromutagen is used on Kraang? Will it convert back to the utrom? I bet that Kraang Prime is like Ch'rell, but his Utrom form was banished into Dimension X, where he was turned into a Kraang. He eventually found mutated Utrom of his own and put a mind controlling device on that would make them listen to only his commands. Hence why he has 3 hexagon things on his head. The Utroms like in the 2003 series had their ship crash, but this time in Dimension X. Bishop managed to escape the crash and fell on Earth along with other remaining Utroms. EDIT: And what if that ship was the Technodrome?

Hee, I almost said "What, is he an alien now or something?". Cool, looking forward to see what exactly they do with and if he'll still be an enemy of the turtles. I wonder if that Cubed guy will be upset though...

Well, after his first few appearances, Bishop actually became an ally, so...

Foombamaroom 08-14-2015 08:33 AM

Spoiler:
I'm kinda iffy on Bishop being an Utrom, but there are three things that have me excited for it. A. Agent Bisho himself. As long as they do the character correctly, I'll be fine with him being an Utrom. B. Utroms themselves. So, now Utroms are in the 2012 show? That's fantastic. We may finally get some Kraang origins. Maybe Kraang Prime was a rogue Utrom who just cloned herself/himself (I don't know what gender it is.)? C. I wonder if Bishop is going to serve as an antagonist or an anti-hero to the Turtles. Hopefully he'll start off as an antagonist, and then gradually become an ally to them. But still, BISHOP. This might just make up for Mega Shredder.

MikeandRaph87 08-14-2015 08:33 AM

Spoiler:
Incorrect. He was a villain who thought he was doing the right thing within his mindset. His goal may have been to protect the Earth, but the turtles were just experiments that can help his research and in the way. He was an ally in Fast Forward, but that was after the villain who means well had time to reform. We do not see him in the last season aside form a nonspeaking cameo, but he is still evil at least until the point of 2050 in which one of Bishop's alien experiments had heart enough to save his tormentor.

Do we really need spoiler tags for every post? The thread title says Spoilers in it so it's kinda assumed you don't come in here unless you don't care about being spoiled.

Spoiler:
Sure we do.

Bitsy83 08-14-2015 09:36 AM

Gosh....should I even BOTHER making a thread now? Some of you guys already beat me to it. Ok, let me go into a bit more detail about the book:

Spoiler:
It starts out with the Turtles, Casey, and April patrolling the streets and looking for more Kraang. I think we all saw the clip where they mentioned that the Mutanimals were taken out by Tog (Slash and Rockwell, to be specific). While they're driving, a Kraang droid (with human face) pulls up alongside them, pulls down his sunglasses, and "winks" at them. The Turtles find this suspicious so they follow the car, but lose him down an alley. They get this message on the wall: "TURTLES. 3117 BAYFRONT STREET. MIDNIGHT." Below the message is a bishop chess piece. (This is where I started squeeing.)

The Turtles are then led to the meat packaging place where they fought Tigerclaw and see the Kraang droid. Obviously, they all attack him, but he takes them all out while trying to say he doesn't want to fight them. He apprehends Donnie and forces them to listen to him. He says his Earth name is Bishop and that he is a Utrom, a peaceful Kraang. He even talks differently from the other Kraang. This is because the Kraang all share a hive-mind (which Donnie had speculated before), and he was the one who originally created the human disguise; the other Kraang just copied him. (I think someone speculated that before). Bishop warns the Turtles that the Triceratons are planning to invade Earth in order to take out the Kraang.

Bishop explains how for millennia, the two species fought over Dimension X; a classic battle of brains vs. brawns. The Triceratons almost won, until the Kraang unleashed a weapon known as a "Black Hole Generator," which destroyed the Triceraton's home planet. The war for Dimension X is still continuing to this day, so that might explain why the Kraang have been trying to use Earth as their new home. Leo interrupts and asks Bishop why he's helping them:
"Because...I have watched you. I have seen the good you have done in quiet, in secrecy, simply for the sake of goodness. That is why I help you."

So, the Turtles and Bishop form a plan to invade the Technodrome, which has been rebuilt...again. Leo, Casey, April, and Bishop are in the Blimp over the bay where the Technodrome is while Raph, Donnie, Leatherhead, and Mikey go in the sub. Kraang Sub-prime has returned (somehow) and is trying to power up the Technodrome. Unfortunately, the Technodrome still manages to rise and begins to ascend onto New York. Using glider wings, Leo's team break into the Drome to find their friends. As their fighting, every monitor on the Technodrome and screen on the planet (computer screens, smart phones, TV, etc.) receives a message from Mozar:

"Greetings, Sub-Life Forms of Earth. I am Captain Mozar of the Triceraton Empire. Let it be known that your planet is infested with Kraang, an insidious alien bent on mutating Earthing their own home world. In response, we Triceratons will eliminate these hideous aliens, freeing you from their vile plans. Unfortunately, your Earth will be annihilated as well. That is all. And please...have a nice day."

Hence, begins the DOUBLE INVASION! So, the Kraang and the Turtles fight, Sub-Prime and Bishop face off. We find out that Sub-Prime is actually SUB-Subprime. I'm not sure what this means, but I assume that Bishop once outranked Subprime. Eventually, the Turtles have to escape in Kraang ships, only to be attacked by Triceraton pilots. A huge dogfight goes on when Casey and Mikey see a Triceraton ship head for Central Park. They have their own Black Hole Generator, which they stole from the Kraang, and start to put it together. The Turtles show up and are about to face them when they receive some backup. Splinter, Mondo Gecko, Muckman, and the rest of the Mutanimals show up and a huge brawl goes on to stop the Triceratons from powering up the generator.

And that's where my bookmark is. I'll try to finish the book tomorrow and post the rest, if someone hasn't already beaten me to it. I'm starting to think I may be a bit behind in all this. So, what do you all think?

CylonsKlingonsDaleksOhMy 08-14-2015 09:43 AM

Holy crap. That stuff is AMAZING!

And somebody official came up with the chess piece calling card. Dammit, that was gonna be my idea when I someday got to write for TMNT! :tlol:

MsMarvelDuckie 08-14-2015 10:03 AM

Oh I kind of poked fun at that idea in my main fic, with Mikey calling him the name of almost every chess piece EXCEPT the bishop! Pawn, knight, rook, etc.... Mikey was being a smarta$$ and trying to push his buttons by insulting him.

Papenbrook 08-14-2015 10:03 AM

Welp.....

Spoiler:
Bishop's potential as a major villain has been UTTERLY SHOT TO HELL! :x

Yeah, but Bishop as he was wouldn't really make sense as an alien-hunting villain given that aliens have been a HUGE focus in this show since the very first episode. As opposed to 4Kids, where aliens didn't become as big of a focus until Season 3.

If a different branch of TMNT was doing this, I'd be more antagonistic. But this is the version that made the Kraang/Utroms evil, so I'm okay with it.

Fingers still crossed for IDW Bishop...

BubblyShell22 08-14-2015 10:17 AM

Sounds like that will be awesome, Bitsy. Now I definitely can't wait for the episode to air. Sure, Bishop's different, but I like how he's an alien in this and how he's against the Kraang. I had a feeling the Utroms would come in somehow, and they have.
