Let's see.. We are getting a spin off for a secondary character on a TV show that gets more plots and character development than one of the main characters.

But in all seriousness, I'm excited for this

Interesting...! Though I have to wonder what the motivation is. The April & Casey series at IDW is clearly an attempt to pull in more female readers, but it's IMO pretty shallow... So far it's all teenage drama, romance, it's cliches, stuff that I have to assume chick readers never really asked for/wated. I hope this won't be similar in that respect. Chicks are people, & people like all sorts of stuff, not just "chick" stuff, ya know? But I'm jumping the gun, to be fair. It's just curious that she's been given such a push in the now, starring in the new film, getting a lot of spotlight in the cartoon, & her comic mini. Beyond the OT she was never meant to be this integral/important of a character beyond what her role serves to be for the TMNT, an initial link to the human world.

If this is a spin-off of the Nick show itself, then I'm definitely into it, I REALLY like Nick's April. If it's a movie, with Megan Fox, well, I've finally found a good enough reason to end my life. :tlol:

Its probably another one-off movie/special like the Half-Shell Heroes thing coming in November. Maybe they're going to continually make a whole bunch of spinoff specials.

Hoping it's just a fun little one-off thing like the Half Shell bit. Or just a rare occasional thing as I'm kind of expecting those to end up. Could be cool, but if it's largely Turtleless...meh. April is ok, but never really been into her enough to be that interested in something without the guys.

If they are doing it to pull more girls into watching...then the continued blindness of the actual fanbase demographics - and that TMNT already has many female fans of all ages - is a bit :trolleye:.

Props for insightfulness. Wish the people who actually made it (or those doing the marketing?) understood it.

I like this concept. I hope Tempestra is the villain in this.

I think it would be better if this new project would be a special episode or something. I do not see it succes as a spin off

Interesting, judging by the title, it looks like it will explore how April becomes the journalist/reporter.

Hey, pretty cool! They are really hedging their bets to try and go with April as a centerpiece character for a show/movie/mini-series. But I'll be happy to give it a chance.

I wonder if this will be done in 2D like the Half-Shell heroes special. In fact I think I would love a bunch of 2D spinoffs of the main series.

Huh! On one hand, I'm really, really glad this is a thing that is being considered. On the other hand, there are so many ways this could go wrong, and given the Nick show's dismal record with the character and their selection of developer, I'm not exactly optimistic.


My personal best-case scenario: a live-action series in the vein of kids-oriented Doctor Who spin-off The Sarah Jane Adventures. My personal worst case scenario: the current show, exactly, except starring April.

Don't get me wrong, it's cute and all. But...like a gagging level of it.

Oh if only Disney were to one day get hold of TMNT, and then she can be a real princess. Alternately Nick could just mutate her slightly and give her sparkly fairy wings. TMNT/Winx Club cross over for the girls.

No me gusta. The title makes it sound like it would focus on her origin and how it relates to the Kraang. That art direction looks kind of... simple?

Could still be cool though, I will assuredly be checking it out.

Even though that is a drawing from one of TMNT's animators, my first thought was that it was just a fun doodle. There's a lot of them on Nasus's Twitter.

Actually, what if it's a series of shorts, like what 2003 did? And plays within commercial breaks or just randomly on Nick?

Yeah, it doesn't surprise me that there'd be a spinoff, though I always thought it'd be with more of a minor character. April is just too major. Personally, I was placing my money on Fugitoid. Think about it: Intergalactic scientist. Has his own space ship. Travels the galaxy. It'd be like an animated Doctor Who for a slightly younger audience. I could even see Mona Lisa being his companion/body guard. I have this feeling that Fugitoid isn't a capable fighter.

Still, my idea may not work depending on what direction the writers want to take Fugitoid. Apparently, Fugitoid is a walking atomic bomb, so something tells me a self-sacrifice might be in store for season 4. Plus, we don't know if Mr. Tennant would be available to provide the voice full-time. I'm sure the British Isles are keeping him busy.

Let's just hope this isn't some lame attempt to broaden the female demographic of the fandom. I seriously think more girls are into this show than guys.

Calm down, we hardly know anything about it. Don't judge a book by it's cover. Don't just say it's a bad idea when we have very little details on what it is.

There's this thing on this forum we have called spoiler tags and I recommend you use them.

What did I spoil? People already know Fugitoid and Mona Lisa are joining the show and I don't think the atom bomb thing was that much a spoiler.

It's still a spoiler and something I'd rather find out watching the show. You should have put it in spoilers since that info was leaked from a book.

Actually, the atom bomb part was never mentioned in the book. That was what they talked about at the SDCC panel and it was on his character sheet. But I get what you're saying and I'll try to be more careful.

Not sold on the art style at all.

That said, the idea of a short spin off examining her origins would be interesting - especially as it would add a level of depth to her character without pulling too much attention in the primary Nick show.

I would be interested if they keep the same animation for the main series but if they turn it into some cutesy 2D animated show then I will not be interested.

Well, to be fair... it IS art created by one of the show's animators.

TBF to TigerClaw, I kinda attribute that to how he tends to post something official. So when he posts something that looks straight out of Deviantart, tumblr, etc. people will confuse it as official.
