Turtles in Time Picture
Does anyone know of that picture in the opening sequence of the arcade version of Turtles in Time with the 4 bros, Splinter to the right, and April behing Raph? I want that pic sooo badly, but you can't take a snap of it due to the letters on the screen. Does anyone know how I could get it?
|
I wish I knew where a regular copy of that image existed, but that may've been the only place they ever used it.
|
Hmmm, maybe there is a way to remove the front scrolling layer during the emulation. If I could do that, it would only be a matter of snapping the screenshot at the right time. Now I need to strip away that layer. Does anyone know how to do that? :-?
|
On Snes emulators you can disable layers, but I don't know if thats possible in Mame.
|
In Mame , when its diplayed, press somthing like F4 and keep pressing it and it will go through the different layers.
|
I didn't get the layer thing to work, but it did help me find the Sound Test...
THANK YOU SOO MUCH!!!! Now back to the picture hunt... |
lol yes, F2 on games from about 1990 onwards opens up there setup (same as pressing the test button on PCB's)
earlier games, like the first TMNT, you have to press TAB and then change dipsitches until it goes to ram rom test, it will take awhile and might seem like its crashed, but if you wait, you can go through a sound test (you would be amazed how many dont know that) |

No no, no PM's, please post it here! I want to know that too, that damn sound test only worked for me once...
Anyway, I think everyone knows this, but this page has most of the songs from that game in mp3 format: http://www.kaejae-worx.com/~don/vide...tmnt/index.htm |
I think it has to do with entering the service mode and then waiting for the service menu to come up...am I right, Jason?
If so, just HOW long is it supposed to take? |
Well, I've let it sit with that stupid grid on for the past 3-4 hours now, nothing...
You don't understand how desperate I am for these sound clips right now! (If anyone wants to know, yes, I do intend to cap some). |
Look, make sure you enable a dip switch so it goes to a "ram rom test"
and it will stay like it for along time, maybe 5-10mins and then it will come upto a menu thats it really. |

Here's what I've been doing so far: I've set all of those "unknown" dipswitches to "on" All of that's done while I have the "service mode" dipswtich on When I have the service mode on, there comes up a screen that says "mask rom check" after the "ram rom check" comes up (not ram rom TEST, but ram rom CHECK), that stays on for a while, then it completes and takes me back to that grid, but it stays there seemingly forever... Like I said, maybe you should PM with more detail if you know it. In the meantime, I'll try different "unknown" dipswitch on/off combinations. Thanks for your help regardless ;) |
thats about right, just make sure u try other things, and leave it, leave it for a very long time, atleast till it resets.
the screen should actully start goin funny part way through, like flashing tiled colors ect. |
I think it was something like this: once you get that eternal grid, press the numbers (1, 2, 3, etc). I think number 3 takes you to the sound test.
I'm probably wrong, tho. EDIT: NO! You have to press Ctrl repeated times, and then you'll get the sound test. |
Jason and Nelson, I thank you both...you have no idea how much time your information has saved me for this little project that I'm working on :)
|
You're welcome, man.
|
No problem, If you wanted them, i beileve i already have them all recorded in a wav file, i could send them you if you like, im not totally sure if I do still have them, but i can take a look.
If my computer was in the garage with my TMNT arcade machine, i could record them top quility straight from the arcade machine itself, but sadly it isnt. |
Well, too late...I just capped them all last night. They're way better than just recording them with a microphone, but not the best either (for this thing I'm working on, they MUST be 8-bit Mono).
