Baxter Stockman: Playmates - Do Him Right!

We know we all want a Baxter Stockman figure. Well, at least most of us do. And there's some debate on how exactly he should be offered. Well, lets throw my idea up and see how she flies. :)

Baxter Stockman - Deluxe Figure - $24.99 MSRP

Contains: Baxter Stockman w/ cloth labcoat and handheld scanner
2 Interchangable Left Forearms (normal and robotic).
3 Interchangable Heads (Normal, Eyepatch, Eyepiece w/ Neckbrace)
Baxter's Robotic Wheelchair (from Return to New York)
Baxter's Exo-Armor Bodysuit (from Return to New York)

Since It's uncertain if Baxter's legs are intact or not in RtNY, I would suggest making them removable so he can connect to the wheelchair better. Without having to make it oversized for to accomidate the figure.

Stockman...

They should just go ahead and make hima mutant or something.....Oh....he should be a fly, that would be completely cool.

No, hahah, j/k

I think 25$ is way too much.

I don't think so. Look at the Battle Shell. Maybe they could do it for $20.00. Basically this is nearly the same size. And comes with a figure. You're average figure is $5.99. And then you're getting a cloth labcoat, 2 extra heads, an extra forearm, and his lil electirc wheelchair deal. And then the giant robot bodysuit with firing missles, grasping claws, etc. Well worth the price. :)

EZweasel 10-16-2003 02:56 AM

you got a good idea vintage, but i would even mind having a plane jane paxter stockman with lab stuff. no diferent heads or suitsa, but your idea is beter.

cool idea, but no, I can see kids buying that, coveing him in blood and having the parents freak out and back lash aginst the company for no reason at all

They freacked out over Al Snows manicine head with his toy (severed head my butt), so just imagine if they give us the ability to cut off legs

GK Punk 10-16-2003 09:12 AM

Yeah I remember that... They thought "Head" Was a severed woman's head. "WOMEN BEATER WOMEN BEATER" They all cried. In reality, head was just a Maniquin head -_-

Peanut 10-16-2003 09:55 AM

I have that Al Snow toy! Rock on! I got it just before it was pulled from shelves! I remember they had the same type of head changing thing with Chameleon from Spider-Man. You could pull off his head and replace it with Spidey or JJJ. It was kinda dumb though cause Chameleon changes his whole body, not just the head. It would work for Stockman though.

I don't think so. Removable limbs on figures is quite commen now a days. The Star Wars line is a good example. Removable heads, arms, hands. And there are other lines that do it. It's not like it would be shown gruesome. The legs/lower body would just pop apart, so he could plug into his lil wheelchair doo-hickey. :)

 I hate cloth outfits for action figures. It gives me premonitions of the 'someday-will-be' ghetto Barbie with an entire wardrome valued at 5 cents cuz they're all made twice as cheaply. They always look bad on things that are supposed to have threatening attributes. ... But, what do I care? I don't collect figures anymore!

cqb101 10-16-2003 01:46 PM

Really cool idea! Prett much what I was thinking!

Kid Icarus 10-16-2003 01:52 PM

They could offer Baxter and his wheel chair and exchangeable bodyparts as one figure, and then sell his android body suit mecha thing as a vehicle...

Look at all the stuff the Nanotech monster has... i think they could do it. they might have to cut the cloth labcoat though ;).

Mr. Snackpants 10-16-2003 01:59 PM

I doubt they would make a figure with so many removable limbs. But it would be cool!!! To bad they didnt just make a regular baxter in the beggining and an exskeleton one now.

I dont think we should care what the parents think about toys..the worst that could happen is the toys would be banned..and they will be worth more.

Bry 10-16-2003 04:15 PM

Your idea is sweet, but it probably makes more sense from a financial standpoint to just release a number of seperate figures. Two 'regular' versions of Baxter (one where he's 'intact', and another in the wheelchair) and a 'Deluxe Edition' Robo-Baxter.

Though I'd be happy to just get any Baxter figures at all.

Cascadia 10-16-2003 05:09 PM

nice idea....but $20 should be more accurate for the price.

OA 10-19-2003 11:46 AM

Yea, I would definately like to have a regular fig and a deluxe figure. You would think they would come up with a regular figure considering that are gonna have figs of characters such as the Titan...i guess we have to cross our fingers and wait....

Mr. Snackpants 10-19-2003 01:31 PM

I think they should make a big robot baxter, and have it open up and be able to take baxter out(in his labcoat), to be his regular figure. So its like a 2in1 kinda thing.

Anarchistguy 10-20-2003 05:56 PM

I've wrote to Dan Berger about this and he said that Playmates has NO plans to make Baxter Stocman at the moment.

Well that sucks.....

Splinter 10-20-2003 06:52 PM

Frankly that's ridiculous. I don't see why they wouldn't make a main character like Baxter this early in the line. When they're rushing to make secondary characters like Nano, Dr. Malignus, Silver Sentry, etc. Baxter should have been in the same wave as April, Casey, and Hun. :(

kj6754 10-20-2003 08:11 PM

it will probably be a long time before we see a baxter figure.

OA 10-20-2003 09:30 PM

That is kinda strange..makes you wonder what the REAL reasoning is behind not issuing the figure...

VaughnMichael 10-20-2003 10:05 PM

yes I am starting to wonder also

does playmates think a black action figure will not sell
if thats true I think thats nutts!
baxter has now become a main charecter more so then even shredder himself!
we need a damn toy of him! I swear to god if I have to go hold everyone hostage at playmates i will!!! lol
if it wasn't for silver sentry(sp) I really would think they had something against black figures......like my case with bebop in the first mutation line...
I still say if they make silver white i will freak out and I am sorry but playmates will be getting a very nast letter from me....
Vaughn Michael

Quiller-Bee 10-21-2003 03:33 AM

That's friggin' ridiculous. We're getting the mutants from Notes From the Underground, but NO Baxter Stockman?!? Gyahd!

Anarchistguy 10-21-2003 06:44 AM

Hell, we're even getting DR.MALIGNUS of all characters, and I take it you're black, Putrescent?

VaughnMichael 10-21-2003 09:06 AM

anarchistguy

actully no i'm not
I'm a white male but I just have this strong fealing about this.....
first good old bebop in the old line
and now no baxter stockman
I think we should all bombard playmates with with e-mails
Vaughn Michael

there is no proof silver century will be black. all we seen is a mold. if thye make him white it would be kinda wrong..

Dane E5R 10-21-2003 09:47 AM

Oh, he WILL be black dammit. Anyway, yes, Playmates has now royally pissed me off. I've officially lost an assload of respect for this company.

Rob_003 10-21-2003 09:51 AM

I think Baxter will become a mutated fly somewhere down the road and they will be be giving him a figure then. And keeping mum about it right now. Or at least that is what I can hope.
Anyway didn't the orginal toon and action figure line change Baxter from black to white. I remember hearing that in the orginal comics he was black and they are following them for the new show.

Don't expect the fly thing to ever happen. That was the old show, this is the new. Besides, after what happened to Baxter in the 'Return to New York' storyline I feel he's going to come back even more messed up then before. Probably little more then a head in a mechanical walker. The only problem with that, would be that he's becoming way to much a 'Mr.Freeze' if all that's left is his head. And yes, the original toon turned Baxter from black to white. :)

Mr. Snackpants 10-21-2003 01:13 PM

Its cause baxters black

Quiller-Bee 10-21-2003 02:34 PM

This whole thing regarding Baxter Stockman not being included in the action figure line pisses me off. I'm curious to know what Playmates' true reasoning behind Baxter's exclusion from the line actually is. Is it honestly because Stockman is a black man? Is it perhaps because he's a black villain? Certainly it can't be because "someone" simply thinks he won't sell. Not only is Baxter an important character in the TMNT mythos, but an action figure of the character has much potential in terms of play-value. It's my opinion that if done correctly, the figure would sell to hard-core collectors and kids alike.

Splinter 10-21-2003 03:12 PM

Whether it's because he's black or because they don't think he'll sell, it's an insane idea not to make him, period. Plus the fact they're making a damn mini-figure of Baxter. So why no love for Baxter in the regular figure line. Geez. For the first time since the line started again, I'm very ticked off at Playmates. :(

kj6754 10-21-2003 04:00 PM

I just sent an email to playmates on this issue. maybe if we emailed them on how we feel about this then they would listen.

OA 10-21-2003 05:37 PM

Man, if silver sentry really does come out white (or non-black) that would be so messed up. At least then we would know the reasoning by not comin out with baxter in the first place. Though you would think in the year 2003 we would be past this crap by now...you would think

I can't wait to hear what they say.......

Anarchistguy 10-21-2003 06:06 PM

What if they don't reply?....

kj6754 10-21-2003 07:02 PM

I got a response.

She says she would have to ask somebody in marketing but unfortunately they are all at the toy fair in new york. She said she will get back to me shortly. :)
