What Comics Are You Currently Following?
I know we have a thread for books we're currently reading but I was hoping we could get one started specifically for comic book series, maybe we can get it stickied.
Feel free to share what comic series you're currently reading, what series you dropped due to disinterest, upcoming series you're looking forward to, or all-time favorite series you think others would enjoy. I look forward to hearing about some new comic series. |
The Walking Dead
TMNT TMNT Universe Red Hood & the Outlaws Batman The Flash Animosity Deadly Class Saga (but I'm behind...) That's my consistent pull list. |
Mostly Image but here is the list
Walking Dead Saga Runaways Invincible Deadly Class(that 4 month haitus is going to be a pain) I hate fairyland TMNT Extremity Southern Bastards East of West Manga Promised Neverland Dr Stone One punch man One piece My hero academia Attack on titan |
The Only Comic I am really "following" is the Original Hellblazer run of John Constantine. Trying to get all 300 Issues.
In December I am gonna try All New GOTG and if I like that I will follow that comic series. Other than that just reading Daredevil and a Jonah Hex Comic I got |
Currently I'm pulling:
TMNT TMNTU TMNT/Ghostbusters II B.P.R.D.: The Devil You Know Hellboy and the B.P.R.D. Paper Girls Saga Southern Bastards and everything tied-into the DC Dark Nights: Metal event (note: it's really good!) I was reading Dr. Strange and Deadpool but both have lost my interest so I think I'm going to take a break for a while, see where the stories go and if I want to get caught back up Quote:

Saga, I last left off when they arrived at the western steampunk abortionist planet. What a description. :tlol:
East of West, I don't even remember where I left off... Southern Bastards I trailed off with, too... Paper Girls I tried but couldn't get into. Too weird. I Hate Fairyland is awesome. :tlol: |
As far as actual physical comic books, just TMNT and TMNT Universe. I’m kinda on a budget and can’t really afford to buy any more than that.
I used to read Archie’s Megaman comic but that was put “on hiatus” (more like forever canceled) and I’m behind on Invader Zim since the website I download ‘em from’s been acting up recently. On the manga side, Watamote, D-Frag, Cupid’s Chocolates, and the physical volumes of Haganai and Oregairu whenever they come out. |

Southern Bastards suffered a series of unfortunate delays due to deaths on both halves of the creative teams families. I think its resumed regular releases though. Paper Girls is a lot better when you can read several story arcs at once. It would be worth checking out if they have the trades at your local library. I've seen solicits for I Hate Fairyland but I've never read it. I may check it out one day |

I only follow TMNT and Usagi Yojimbo, but for the latter I wait for trades and don't pick up single issues.
I don't have time or money to pick up comics otherwise. I won't get into a series from DC or Marvel due to constant reboots or retcons/relaunches. Comic books feel like they're becoming an outdated medium, but at least now you can buy them digitally on ipads or phones and such. Still I don't see it worth the time. TMNT is of course an exception, thank god IDW is as good as it is. |

I'd recommend checking out TPBs at your library or the bookstore to find stuff you might be interested in |

I'm pretty selective, but I love the books I do follow:
Doom Patrol - Gerard Way, Nick Derington Miracle Man - Tom King, Mitch Gerards Seven to Eternity - Rick Remender, Jerome Opena I would easily recommend these three to anyone. Loving them and hoping for hardcover collections. I'm a big fan of Marvel, but they aren't putting anything out I love. |
Seven to Eternity and Birthright
Just got hooked on both of them and powered through the back issues. Awesome stuff! |

Yes, that is the correct description of Doomsday Clock. I have not been following the DC Universe closely since the New 52 initiative, but this has caught my interest. |

And I agree about Marvel, I'm probably taking all their titles off my pull list for a while I feel like right now Marvel is winning at movies and sucking at comics and at DC its vice versa |

Doom Patrol is great. It's easy to recommend to a fan of Umbrella Academy. |

Umbrella Academy is great, I read those a month or two back.
Just finished reading James Tynion IV's "Memetic." That... that was creepy AF, fellas. Seriously messed up. Spoiler:

And I'm jealous you just read Umbrella Academy some months ago, I've been waiting for the next installment for nine years. |

I think I will check that out, you've piqued my interest Cylons.
I just read through the back issues of Curse Words, and I gotta say I don't think I've enjoyed burning through everything available in a series so far since Saga. |

Anybody pick up anything new or read anything particularly good this week?
I caught up on the two thus-far released issues of the new story arc in Snotgirl; the series is way different from my usual fare but the writing and art have been consistently good and the latest issue made me laugh several times. The mystery keeps getting more mysterious. I also checked out the first issue of Void Trip, released today. Pretty interesting. I've met a lot of people like Ana and Gabe in my time (at times I've been like them myself) so I feel a certain kinship with this series already. I'm curious to see if the series can keep up that feeling |

I only pull TMNT and TMNT universe.
But anytime I see a deal for Ultimate X-men or ultimate spiderman I will pick up the TPBs for cheap. I will eventually finish both series. |
Also if anyone is a fan of Berserk check out Vinland Saga, its more grounded than Berserk but it will feed your sword and warfare needs
|
Just caught up on Dark Fang #3. It's a series about a vampire who spent a lot of time living at the bottom of the sea, just chilling with her sea animal friends, but then she returns to the world above due to facing the effects of mankind's rampant pollution. The art was kinda jarring at first because it seems like it was made for a digital flash cartoon or something so it may take some getting used to, but now I like it a lot because it lends itself well to visualizing the movement in each panel. Anyways, check it out, some of you might like it.

A new issue of Southern Bastards was finally released today. Anybody who's lived in a town that bleeds for its high school football should check it out.

So, I recall somewhere that I said that I'd always wanted to read Saga, but wasn't able to get it.
Turns out, my brother had the first book in the house this whole time. And I'm very glad for the $10 price, since it's now on my reading list even more than before. |
