Upcoming Anniversary/Thoughts
So...February 8th, 2018 will mark the 15th anniversary of this series.
With the 2012 show completed and the new series not airing until next fall, do you think we are in for any surprises? |
Still waiting for Viacom to give us proper DVD boxsets of the series. The wait shall continue.
Either way I've been marathoning the 2k3 series myself rewatching it all. I started on November 6th, and now only a month later I'm already 8 episodes into Fast Forward. I'll be finished with the whole series in about another week or so. The first four seasons are the best bar some of the duller filler eps, but I really like both Ninja Tribunal and Fast Forward for different reasons. It was a nice way to shake up the series given all the old plotpoints were pretty much wrapped up. The final season is the weakest but there are a few decent eps there. I think I've watched the 2k3 series in full about 5-6 times. This is probably my 6th rewatch of the series. Amazing how a series I watched as a teenager can still be enjoyed as a 30 year old. |
Wow this series is nearly 15 years old already? Jesus.
I don't really expect anything to be done in celebration of it tbh. |
It would be nice to see proper DVD boxsets of this series, though I don’t think it’s gonna happen.

The 2003 Teen Titans cartoon is also 15 years old. Dragonball Z finished the dub at the height of its popularity in 2005. The PS2/Gamecube/Xbox and GBA era was on its height of its popularity by 2003. The Hoenn generation of Pokemon with the Ruby/Sapphire games was 2003. The Star Wars prequels are now 15 years old. Goddamn. Sometimes I wish I could go back in time to the years 2001-2006 or so. That was a glorious time period. The age of the early 2000's when all this stuff was coming out for the first time but there was very little to no social media and people posted on message boards. People still used VHS tapes and were just transitioning to DVDs. I still have trouble thinking of the 2010's as a "new decade" which is why I feel the early 2000's aren't that old. |
Maybe some retro action figures based on the series could be released.
|
TMNT has started to acknowledge it in their social media posts (a lot, actually), but I don't expect anything. Anything new, merch or otherwise, would be welcomed, though.

Which twitter is this? Link?

Even though that's an official twitter, it does seem to be run by a guy in his 20's. Not exactly someone high on the food chain over at Nick. Probably a College intern.

If you read his replies and everything, sounds just like someone who would post here. I imagine he's probably in mid 20's. That's still fairly "old" to be running a official twitter for Nick.

All art is credited to the original creator except for stock stuff done by in-house talent.

I had no idea this series existed when it started airing.

We aren't going to get anything and I"ll take literally anything they throw fans, 2k3 might be my favorite adaptation even with all the flaws it has. I realized this just the other day, it's the interpretation where I feel all of them really are a family since they developed that many times in the show and that's something no other media of TMNT I've consumed has made it as clear.
The TMNT twitter constantly has 2k3 stuff but that's more of a "we don't have the rights to the OT and can't only tweet Nick stuff. You can see from their twitter they'd die to be able to reference the OT turtles more often, when they do they only show footage of the "promotional artwork" or from Turtles Forever/Nick Crossovers. If not, 2k3 would likely not get as much love on the twitter page. 2k3 deserves so much better, especially since without Laird we'll likely never get anything like it again. |
2015
For a while during 2015, it seemed we would get a compete DVD release. But now, nothing has happened since mid-October 2015:

Here's another post featuring the 4Kids series:
https://twitter.com/TMNT/status/939902604154494976 It's just really weird that they would be doing all of the posts featuring the 4Kids series if they weren't promoting something. Where are they going with all of these posts? |
Don't get your hopes up. They're just trying to cleanse palettes until Rise comes out, & the 4kids footage is readily available for use as they own it outright.
|
It's kind of ironic, all 156 episodes of the 4kids series are uploaded on youtube, by multiple people even, and none of these eps are taken down for copyright infringement. Viacom just allows them.
I suppose if we start seeing these videos taken down, it might be a sign Viacom is planning DVD releases, but until then probably not. Either way as said, it's not like the 4kids series is locked away in some vault and nobody can watch it. There's still the old 4kids DVDs from 2003-2009, plus as I said everything is up on youtube and other sites. |
Being the uploaded of the entire 2003 series on my channel “Ninja Turtles,” formally known as XxsargeslapahoexX for an OG Youtubers... I cannot believe that Viacom has allowed all of my 2003 episode uploads to stay. They charge 1.99 per episode on YouTube of the series. So I can’t believe they don’t take down my videos and the rest on YouTube. Mine are uploaded at full length, good quality and widescreen, so I am sure they will take them down one day....

I've never seen the 4 Kids series marketed as "old school" before.

Cowabunga Christmas
Quote:
http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/releases...-Release/15877 Cowabunga Christmas, despite the fact that the turtles rarely used the word "Cowabunga" in that series. |
As someone who just finished rewatching the 2k3 series, Cowabunga is used far more often in the series than people think. Michaelangelo shouts it in quite a few episodes.

He yells it quite often. He yells it in two of the Notes of the Underground eps, one from Season 1 and the other during the Season 2 or 3 return. He also says it in the Christmas episode from Season 3. It comes up twice in Fast Forward as well.

Sadly, the only series to have a Christmas episode.
