New Episode Discussion: Turtles in Space-The Fugitoid

Greetings from space, folks!!! I'm here to welcome you into a New Season of torment...!

Man, Beam Me up, Scotty!
Our boys got transported to some place that sounds right out of Star Wars, and got a taste of the International Fuzz! Guess the cops are the same jerks, no matter where you go... ;) :P

They meet up with this Professor named Honeycutt (isnt that the guy from M*A*S*H? ;P ), and find out this guy, not to mention the fact he's on the Most wanted list with some military group. Its led by this General, but it doesnt give his full name, just a blank (get it? Blank spot, Blanque? ah, forget it...)

Well, turns out this guy's made a transport think like the Utroms had, and that's why the General's coming after him. Maybe they want to use it and broaden their range for giving parking tickets...

Machias Banshee 11-06-2003 09:30 PM

The Beginning is near...

We're almost there, guys! :D Pull out a clean VHS Tape, and get it ready for the New Season! Make plans to mail your siblings to Abu Dahbi! Steal the remote controls and keep the TV on the right channel! :D

Karpo_007 11-07-2003 02:38 AM

Can't wait... Animated Fugitoid :o

HorseTechie 11-08-2003 09:44 AM

Gah... no one has unlocked this yet? Well, it is now!

Interesting ep, this one. Reminded me of Star wars, it did. :P

GK Punk 11-08-2003 09:46 AM

You guys already got to watch it :(

I still have to wait a few more hours. A difficult life, this Kittie leads.

HorseTechie 11-08-2003 09:48 AM

:D

Shall I tease you with more spoilers?

GK Punk 11-08-2003 09:49 AM

Maybe you could just tell me if it was worth staying up all night for?

HorseTechie 11-08-2003 09:59 AM

Is that why you're like up so early over there? :o

Hrmm.. well, I thought it was a typical ep. It seems like their fight moves were sped up... a lot faster! Cool action.

How Fugitoid came to be was a good introduction. And... I thought it was kind of funny that he sounded like C3PO at times.

Weapons of mass destruction were discussed... and well, the only thing that bothered me was why there was another planet in the galaxy with human-beings on it. I guess I need to re-read the comics to find out.

Oh, they added a funky jab too. Like an alternate universe version of the TMNT.

lethrhd 11-08-2003 10:00 AM

Yes! Great episode and we got to see a Triceraton!

Peanut 11-08-2003 10:02 AM

Wow! I loved that episode. The opening fight scene was amazing. It seemed to be a lot faster than the fights from the first season. Fugitoid was awesome. He was always one of my favorite Mirage storyline characters so maybe that's why I enjoyed the ep so much.

Nturtle 11-08-2003 10:03 AM

This episode was realy awesome!!! Fugitoid was great! :D

So many Star Wars refrences.... and Leo's little "Rage Against the Machine" refrence

I loved the terrapin Splinter and the 4 rat mutant ninja   Cowabunga!!!!

lethrhd 11-08-2003 10:04 AM

Any of you guys noticed a slight animation change particular in the mouth area... and oh yea Turtles in Space, they actually pulled it off, i thought itd be corny as hell.

As well as with the eyes, namely Mikey

Meira-Bates 11-08-2003 10:05 AM

I loved the....what were they? Teenage Alien Ninja Ratoids and thier master the alien turtiod? Hehe! I also liked that bit of convo between Leo and Raph about that tank thingy they were in...

Leo: Invisable huh?
Raph: *shrugs and grins*

or something like that ^.^

GK Punk 11-08-2003 10:05 AM

Alright, you guys convinced me I did the right thing by staying up

Yeah, I didn't get home untill really late/early so I figured It'd be better to stay up and watch it, than sleep and miss it.

Mr. Snackpants 11-08-2003 10:05 AM

Bizarro world was great  When they first showed them I thought I was seeing things.

Dinny 11-08-2003 10:06 AM

Anyone got pics of the Triceratron?

lethrhd 11-08-2003 10:06 AM

Yea we need more Cowabunga refrences!

Had to love the opening segment. I checked my comic books and they did it nearly word-for-word. Even Mike's "Not today, chumley!"

Oh yea, I didn't think of that.

I nearly wet myself when I saw that! :tlol: :tlol: :tlol: :tlol:

DarkNinja 11-08-2003 10:08 AM

Easily the most memorable part was the turtle with the four rats following behind him.

Peanut 11-08-2003 10:08 AM

 Those Teenage Mutant Ninja Rats were awesome.

Splinter 11-08-2003 10:10 AM

Great episode. I had a few fears about the direction of the new season. But it kicks arse so far. And yes, Fugatoid definatly sounded like everyone's favorite golden prissy robot from Star Wars. Nice touch. :)

And the Teenage Alien Ninja Ratoids and Sensei Turtleoid was great. Especially when they did the subtitle of "Cowabunga". I nearly fell off the couch, laughing my arse off over that one. :D

I don't have a problem with the look of the human-like aliens. It's the Human Federation. Just consider that the humans on Earth are the same species, they just haven't evolved as much as those ones, technologically atleast. :)

Human Federation - Comic Info:
Quote:

The "Federat," as it is often called, controls a huge volume of the galaxy. In cubic light years human space is actually greater than the Triceratons’. In terms of actual stars and planets humanity controls is less than a fifth of Triceraton numbers, because human space is father from the crowded galactic hub. Humans call their government a "Federation," a name which fits as well as "Republic" on the Triceraton domain. Any remains of a political system that encouraged political participation have been obliterated by the military council. Generals have taken the place of planetary presidents and governors. And military law is now the only law. It was the war with the Triceraton Republic that started the military’s rise to power. Gradually, as more and more attention was focused on the war and war production, the political government was transformed into a military one. What remains of the government in the Human Federation is little other than the law of the gun. As a race, humanity is younger, weaker, less experiences and technologically inferior to the Triceratons.

Still, where Triceratons must steal their advanced science from ruins and other races, humans have the ingenuity to make advances of their own. And, though the military government of the Human Federation is every bit as autocratic and unprincipled as the Triceratons, humans are willing to make alliances when it is convenient. This attitude of treating every power as a potential ally has paid off very well for the Federat. Not only are the non-Triceraton borders secure, but certain other interstellar governments are joining the attack on the Triceratons. In addition, the Federation is able to buy advanced spaceships, ’toids (robots), and weapons from some of the more exotic neighboring civilizations.

Aliens are largely ignored in the Human Federation. Although they outnumber the humans by about 30 to 1 (not counting D’Ants, which would make it about 3000 to 1), the aliens are not considered "citizens," only "residents." However, the aliens are not badly treated. Other than taxes, and the occasional unjust arrest, there are really no disadvantages for aliens. Virtually any kind of intelligent alien can be found on a Federation world. It is unknown what connection there is between the humans of the Human Federation and the identical humans of Earth, which is a considerable distance away from Human Federation space. General Blanque, in charge of the Federation military on the planet D’hoonib, in the Sidayon System of Federation territory, had his troopers chase down the Turtles and the Fugitoid, in an effort to gain the secret of the Transmat device that could be used against the Triceraton Republic (TMNT Vol. 1, #5).

Kid Icarus 11-08-2003 10:14 AM

I want some Teenage Alien Ninja Ratoid figures!

Great episode! I like the improvements in the animation, how ever small they were. Opening fight scene was great, with all the rolling and doging.

And we got to see a Triceraton! W00t!

cqb101 11-08-2003 10:15 AM

I loved this ep! Fugitoid was awesome, and the Triceraton at the end was awesome! I can't wait to see them in action!

Jephael 11-08-2003 10:18 AM

Hey did anyone notice?: Don's line "My Hoon'ibian is alittle rusty!" sounded just like "My japenese is alittle rusty!" in the third movie!

rayfillet101 11-08-2003 10:18 AM

I loved it. Mikey with the food. haha. I didnt care for the end however. He just looked really off. Fugitiod was funny and he'll be annoying if the turtles take him home. I loved the teenage mutant ninja rats! its was funny! altough not as good as season 1's permire this was a great spisode.

lethrhd 11-08-2003 10:19 AM

Since this new series is based off of the old comics the Triceratons will have a much bigger part this time around right? I mean the old show only featured them in one episode.

Raph 11-08-2003 10:19 AM

Was the intro theme song any different??

Visual I mean?

lethrhd 11-08-2003 10:21 AM

Not that I could tell and I was looking. Glad they didnt change it though I'm starting to come around on it. And this was a much better season premiere then the Tales of Leo one. I liked how they recapped all of season 1 in like 30 seconds  .

They probably will take him home, since he'll still have no rights when the Turtles leave. But if it follows the original comics, we won't see much of him. He'll probably stay and hang with the Utroms. :)

lhb412 11-08-2003 10:27 AM

Awesome! Fugitoid and the Triceratons: animated at last!!! (I didn't see the Triceratons in the old show.. since they were only in one eppisode!) I really like Fugi's voice, just how I imagined it: kinda C-3PO-ish.

I noticed the animation change too, and personally I really like it. The turtles are a bit more angular and, dare I say it, Jim Lawson-y! The animation was top notch and was beautifull visually, epecially the backgrounds of the planet, Really nice!

The ninja rats and their master turtle were great! Loved when that last rat said something in an alien language and those subtitles say: "Cowabunga!"
I had exactically the same reaction as Mikey:
"Hey, bizarro world!"

Oh and Leo's:
"Time to rage against the machine!"
was priceless.

That wasn't just any Triceraton, it was General Mozar (the figure prototype we've seen) He looks so cool, love his eyepatch and robotic arm.

The federation seems like a really good enemy, and the thing is they seem believeable! They're the worst kind of country, kinda Nazi-ish (notice how Robots don't have any rights) and they want to take over the galexy with nuclear weapons!

Uh, Tales Of Leo wasn't a season premiere.......

Anyway, I really liked the fight in the begginign when Don pulled Raphs sai out of the wall with his feet and threw it back to Raph........

Thanks for the info on the Human Federation too, Vintage Splinter. :D

Jephael 11-08-2003 10:42 AM

LOL, I thought he looked kinda like Mung, the guy who teamed up with Dregg in the last season of TMNT in 1996.

True but they made it one. If you get what Im trying to say since they cut season 1 practically in half.

*looks at pic* Dude, that SO looks like Bizzaro world Splinter! I thought this episode kicked butt, from start to finish. The opening fight scene had me flipping out, and the humour was really good (*Mikey running from soldiers after being caught snacking* "Stupid Ninja Turtle! Stupid Ninja Turtle!"). The tricerartons were cool too, seeing as I never saw them before now in the comic or old show. In my opinion, this season is definitely gonna live up to the hype.

Until next Saturday!

Shadow 11-08-2003 10:53 AM

opeing fight scene

most won't agree with me, but i felt that this fight scene reminded me of all the old ones in the classic series. Like the cutting the tips of the blasters, and the sai going into one....and it blowing up.

MIND YOU, it was classic fighting style on acid, because they def. kicked it up a notch. LOOKS GREAT! I LOVE IT.

oh how i love the turtles.

Not really. It was just the return from a Season Hiatus. Which is normal for most shows with this many episodes. You don't show all your new episodes without tossing in a repeat after a while. Especially since Fox Box was hyping up that their new season was starting, and TMNT needed to reserve new episodes for that. But it was never made a Season Premiere.

PanMan 11-08-2003 11:51 AM

this episode was good. you could obviously see that it was a season premiere with all of the little things. the battle's were ok, but they just didn't match up to the season 1 battles because of the lack of ninja vs ninja. season 2 is looking good so far though :D
