"Why did they get Banned?" Catch-All Thread
 

Figured this could be a catch-all thread since they usually always spring up once somebody's account gets banned?

I was recently curious about malevka's status. I know malevka never posted much and primarily just wanted information about various things that resulted in some necroposting. But I know malevka also works on sprites for Mugen fighting games, and I've had good interactions with malevka on other sites.

This will end well.

Between the lack of new users being allowed since Krang isn't around anymore to approve new registers, some old people just stopping to come here, and all the bans, pretty soon we'll all be talking to ourselves.

Can we loosen up on old bans like, Commenter_42's?

Usually when someone gets banned a thread about them pops out or people can easily see why they've been banned. people don't get banned out of the blue. Bans most often happen after heated arguments or people caught circumventing previous bans.

A thread like this implies people get banned on a weekly basis here. They don't.

Maybe monthly?

My guess is that malevka was banned because he could come by every couple of months and bump a number of decade old threads asking how he could get in touch with a user who left the forum 4 years ago. The posts would get deleted every time so you won't see it in his post history, but it must have constituted spam. People would tell him the guy was gone & not to bump old threads but he just kept doing it.

I know there's a language barrier there, and some of the necro-posts could across as random trying to make contact with folks (usually for sprite/Mugen resources), but I really doubt it was intended to be annoying and was likely a genuine inquiry.

That to me feels like a very flawed system, I introduce a friend to the technodrome and it took him like a month to become I new member.

Well if you click Krang's profile you can see he hasn't been here since October 2017, where he just made a thread about the drome's 18th anniversary and disappeared again.

He seems to only come by once a year now for anniversary threads even though he's on the forums only once or twice an entire year. :lol:

I'm lurking at the Fwoosh forums and some people have waited 4 months for approval, or forgot about the whole thing cause it toook too long. So it is a problem that we're not getting in new members, especially now that a brand new show is going on.

:ohwell: Yeaaaah... time to hand the keys to someone else. (While still remaining the notable founder of course.)

Maybe instead of celebrating the next birthday of the drome, we should be celebrating, THE DEATH OF THE TECHNODROME.

LOL, better than my response. Cubed, we all know you wouldn't be celebrating if you woke up one morning and the drome was gone. Damn I wouldn't be.

You guys aren't looking at the BIG PICTURE, by making the drome more exclusive more people will want to join the cool club.

If scalping is not a bannable offense, then why haven't the people who want me banned been banned for being disrespectful?

But only until there are enough that couldn't join that they form their own bigger club and become cooler.

Some people just loose interest in things. I finally killed off my digital website after not using it for a year. that's it for me and HTML. i'm done :).

I think we need a mod over haul too.... time to promote the all seeing jester to supreme overlord.

First off, I don't see the purpose of these threads other than adding fodder to the rumor mills. So there's no reason to mention Leo or anyone else here...

Someone gets stepped on for their behavior, they go for a bit, they come back, everyone move on.



Sorry if you don't like how I handle things, Vegita. I know you're very vocal about this... But the team and I are doing the best we can... if people don't like it, I can't help you. I literally cannot change anything.

Most other mods are barely active, Krang is barely around, I don't get much time online anymore - I"m lucky if I can get on here once every other week. I still have PMs and reported post emails I can't get to yet. :( I've asked for Jester to be given Supermod powers so he can help more. I've been asking for years. I can't be here to handle every single situation that pops up. Life gets in the way, interests change. I've messaged Krang countless times, and have not received an answer.

So we need to hang in together the best we can. Everyone will not see everything eye-to-eye. Things will happen that we don't like and disagree on. But we are literally all we've got. We need to work together to keep this place alive..


On that note, if you really want to know why someone was given a ban, talk to them.. when someone gets a short term ban, they receive a message explaining why. There's no need to fan flames here...
