Do the turtles smoke?
 

Well do they? I saw an old scetch of them dressed in trech coats and dark glasses, playing pool, Don taking his shot had a cigar in his mouth. Does that mean what I think it means? I hope not.

I'll bet that was some kind of spoof or something...maybe from the old comic days...I dunno :-?

I was upset about James Bond smoking too, his licence to kill does not include himself.

of course they dont smoke...they dont drink either...dont ask me how i know this i just know it!

Was this picture on the official site in the fan art winners? I think there was a fan who drew a black and white picture of the turtles smoking cigars while playing pool. This was a while back so it would probably be on one of the early pages.

I don't think they have ever smoked... Raph does spend time in Bar in volume 4 though.

No.. the Turtles don't really smoke. And with cigars, it's easy to have those around, but not lit. :P

It is true in the Mirage comics, Raph at least does have a liking for beer. He asked April if she had some too the first time she invited them into her apartment too.

i did have once a picture of raph by the nigth smoking, he said something like "everything clear" i don't have it anymore cuz my brother has reformate his pc several times and it was there :oops:

Bond's smoking was really more in the 60's when it was fasionable to do so. He's pretty much given it up now.

Obviously you haven't seen Die Another Day, he was smoking a fat cubin cigar.

There was also that short little costume party story, where they ended up going as 'themselves' and one of them (I'd already assumed it was Raph and now I'm sure of it) asked if someone would get him a beer or something like that.

Don't remember a back story like that... Do you remember what issue it was in?

It was an extra, I dun remember where else it was featured, but I read it from the TMNT and Other Strangeness book.

I don't think it's just Raph.. In Issue 7 there's a colored short of I believe Mike getting drunk and hallucinating.

Yep, but it appears to be an actual comic done by Eastman and Laird. It's called "Don't judge a Book..." By Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird. Copyright 1985 Mirage Studios. In it the turtles get dressed to go to April's Halloween Party. Mikey as a sideshow Pinhead, Leonardo as a Lil Old Lady, Raphael as a Punk Rocker, and Donatello as an Alien (From the 20th Century Fox Movie). They basically have a run in with some gang members who are trying to rob the 'Second Time Around' Antique Store, before they can get to the party, and get their costumes destroyed. So they show up as themselves to the party, and get compliments on their costumes. And I agree, I believe it's Raph that asks April for the Beer. Just by his attitude. :)

Ok I know nothing about the turtles smoking but that James Bond thing; didn't he smoke just to fit in or help his 'cover'? Plus cigars can be smoked on and off really (like at least once a month) so it's not really a regular thing like with cigarette cravings. At least that's how I see it

Plus, wasn't that the first time he smoked in years? And he used to smoke like, 20 cigs a movie, 1/2 a cigar isn't that bad in comparrison.

Yeah, the RPG book also has part of the first issue in it...I'll have to look at the official page to see where "Don't judge a book," was originaly printed before it was in the rpg book, TMNT and Other Strangeness.

In the new toon, Raph sounds like someone who's spent their life smoking too many cigs, which I find funny. But I love his voice though..

It wouldn't shock me if the TMNTs took up smoking and drinking as a regular habit, although I couldn't see Leo doing it. He just seems way too sensible and uptight to spend his time getting stoned and wasted.

I couldn't see Don doing it, the turtle of science would know what those things do to the lungs, heart and brain.

That's a kind way of putting it. Leonardo is just too uptight sometimes though, and he probably is a straightedge.

I do not think that the turtles would smoke. However, in fanfiction, the author can make them do whatever they want them to.

Leo needs to get laid. That's make him less uptight.

LOL I dunno knowing Leo he'd find something to worry about even during make out sessions.

if they smoked that would affect their athletic abilities...so i doubt they would.

well, for one thing, it would royally mess up their fighting abilities. It slowly destroys the lungs, making any sort of strenuous exercise impossible without asthma troubles, or the like. I dont think any of them would like throat/mouth/lung Cancer, or lose the ability of using their voice.

Also...you think they WANT Splinter to jump all over them about that?! Jeez, if they did that, alcohol, or any sort of narcotics, Splinter would beat them like a bad monkey! He's not gonna let them do this learning and training for so many years, and then kill their lung capacity within a few months!

Unless....they share some of the said "alcohol/narcotics" with him. I'm sure he'll OK it then. He he, can't tell me seeing a wasted Splinter wouldn't be hilarious. And four drunk turtles too. If you think Raphael is mean sober, I can only imagine what kind of cruel tricks he'd pull on people drunk.

yeh, its funny to think about, but really. Their entire life, he's lived to be aware their surroundings. Getting stoned or high or lush...that would defeat everything... :P
