Batman and tmnt movie coming

https://www.syfy.com/syfywire/exclus...animated-movie

In 2015, the Dark Knight met the Heroes in a Half Shell on the comics page for the first time. Now, that same team-up is headed to animation with an all-star voice cast, and we've got an exclusive first look.

This spring, Warner Bros. Animation is teaming up with DC Entertainment and Nickelodeon for Batman vs. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, an all-new animated movie that unites everyone's favorite turtles with the Caped Crusader for the first time outside of the comics page. Based on the Batman/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comics miniseries by James Tynion IV and Freddie Williams II, the film will see the turtles meeting Batman via a transdimensional encounter, and feature our heroes teaming up to face Batman's deadly rogues gallery.

Not sure where to put this

Candy Kappa 02-13-2019 10:04 AM

alright! about time we knew more about this project, almost forgot about this.

Art is alright, will probably grow more on me.

Kenwatanabesclone 02-13-2019 10:14 AM

Hopefully this version of the turtles gets their own standalone film as well.

BATMAN / TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES Crossover Being Adapted as Animated Film

Not sure if I put this in the right thread. If it isn't hopefully a mod can move it.

Quote:

James Tynion IV and Freddie Williams II's landmark 2015 crossover Batman/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is being adapted as an animated film as part of a new partnership with DC and Nickelodeon. First reported by SYFY Wire, this cartoon feature is scheduled to be released on home video later this spring. The animation studio developing this film has not been disclosed.

IDW Publishing, who published the original 2015 Batman/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comic book limited series, is not listed as being involved.

The cast includes frequent DC player Troy Baker, who will be voicing both Batman and the Joker in the film; while he has voiced both roles for seperate projects, this would be his first time doing both in the same project.

Baker will be joined by Darren Criss (Raphael), Kyle Mooney (Michelangelo), Baron Vaughn (Donatello), Eric Bauza (Leonardo), Rachel Bloom (Batgirl), Tom Kenny (The Penguin), John DiMaggio (Mr. Freeze), Tara Strong (Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy), Carlos Alazraqui (Bane), and Cas Anvar (Ra's al Ghul).

This wouldn't be the first cross-company crossover to be developed as a film - Dark Horse's 1989 Aliens vs. Predator limited series inspired several live action crossover films in the early 2000s.

neatoman 02-13-2019 10:32 AM

There's already another thread and the movie doesn't seem to be tied to the Nick cartoon in any way. So yeah, this will probably get deleted or merged with the other one.

Anyway, that screenshot looks awful. I'll have to see it in action before fully judging it but I really don't dig the art style.

Vicky82 02-13-2019 10:36 AM

Whoops I didn't expected it to be the general thread, oh well maybe a Mod can delete it.

newfan 02-13-2019 10:47 AM

Leo looks the best out of the 4.

So, 3 movies are coming, I hopefully I'll at least like on of them :)

Panda_Kahn_fan 02-13-2019 10:51 AM

All right! We're finally getting an IDW story in animated form- even if it is the Batman team-up! Really looking forward to this, thoguh I do think the art style is a bit... weird.

Vicky82 02-13-2019 10:59 AM

Feel a bit nervous talking about this after my big mistake last year, when I leaked it here. The leaked info was from another chat room and I didn't realise it was private.

Not keen on the art style but maybe I will get used to it.

I like some of the voice cast (I don't recognise a few names), Leo being voiced by Eric Bauza is awesome.

TurtleWA 02-13-2019 11:10 AM

Wasn’t the general consensus that we loved the art from the TMNT/Bat comic crossovers but the story was not well received? So if I’m reading correctly they kept the weakest part of the crossovers? How about vice versa that.

I do like that the turtles don’t have pupils. The colors seems off. I am glad we are getting something at least. Voice cast seems wonderfully solid.

edit: when I say colors I’m not talking about the turtles skin, just the background and general look, could be my phone screen though

CylonsKlingonsDaleksOhMy 02-13-2019 11:16 AM

This is the best we can get on a screen these days, huh? Okay then...

CyberCubed 02-13-2019 11:30 AM

I wonder why they did’’t go with the art style of the comic

Andrew NDB 02-13-2019 11:35 AM

Weird they'd go with the old blue Batman look, particularly standing next to hipster/New 52 Batgirl. That hasn't been a thing since the 90s in the comics.

CyberCubed 02-13-2019 11:37 AM

Is the Robin Dick Grayson? Because he looks a little short next to Barbara there.

I'd guess Tim Drake.

Andrew NDB 02-13-2019 11:40 AM

No, that's totally Damian. Unless they're gifting his whole exact costume and look to Tim or Dick.

Candy Kappa 02-13-2019 11:40 AM

Looks more like its Damian

You're right, upon a second glance.

Burnside Batgirl, weird 90's action figure Batman, New 52 Robin.

And weird blockheaded Turtles.

Sorry, but the art sucks. Really, really sucks.

Autbot_Benz 02-13-2019 11:44 AM

Yay they aren't those terrible goofball Rise turtles. Batman and the TMNT

I will Take it

AquaParade 02-13-2019 11:49 AM

This is absolultely the sort of product I want to support. I'll pre-order the 4k as soon as I can.

I haven't loved the recent DC animated films, but this direction is certainly more up my alley than anything else Nick has been doing with TMNT lately.

Vicky82 02-13-2019 11:51 AM

I was looking at the voice cast on IMDB and I noticed that Darren Criss who voices Raph in the crossover also voiced Raph in that TMNT short, The Turtles take time and space. I also forgot Eric Bauza voiced Leo in that short too.

I found a new pic

Your pic is a much better size than the one I posted.

It's great to see some faithful TMNT designs in 2d. The Raphael image looks a bit better than the group shot, imo. It could really look beautiful in motion, if they have enough budget/time. We can't count on that though. The Killing Joke animated film, from a few years ago, looked terrible in motion. Either they learned their lesson there or they didn't. It's the most recent one I've seen.

That said, we have to remember that this is the first of a Nickelodeon/DC crossover deal. It's possible Nickelodeon will have higher standards when it comes to the animation, or just that the production will be done somewhat differently than before. Guess we'll see.

I was thinking same, but I like that blue-hued, yellow-symbol batsuit, so I can't complain.

We have come a long way since the days of the questionably-legal TMNT-Batman crossover books of 1990s Russia!

Leofan26 02-13-2019 12:18 PM

The only one that looks ok is Leo, he looks like 2003 Leo. Others like Raph and Donnie look real off with that animation LOL.

I think Shredder would have fit the villain role better but whatever. Guess Rise would have been too baby ish to mix with Batman not that I'm complaining.

Man Raphael looks badass I love the scar over his eye

Andrew NDB 02-13-2019 12:22 PM

Looks like there's something all-new for seedlings to sprout over. This, the Netflix movie, the PD reboot... things are going get very GREEN around here soon, folks! More so than lately.

MikeandRaph87 02-13-2019 12:24 PM

I need to know who Robin is, if its Mr. Grayson I am ecstatic. I'm silly like that, I know.

It's Damian Wayne.

Vicky82 02-13-2019 12:26 PM

As this was announced just before the New York Toy fair, that's on at the weekend, I wonder if there will be toys.

Definitely a Green New Deal we're getting lately!

Much better pic imho :tsmile:

I think this has been suggested before to get a 2012 special. I think 2012 looks good with early 90’s bat. Maybe if this goes well we get something like that as well.

Sabacooza 02-13-2019 12:45 PM

Seeing these screenshots is a breath of fresh air after seeing Rise.

ranger_scout 02-13-2019 01:14 PM

Batman, Robin, Batgirl and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles all together in one movie! :D Sounds awesome! This is going to be a much better TMNT crossover than the one that happened on Power Rangers in Space. Great voice cast as well. Darren Criss did a great job of voicing Raphael in that short that was released a couple of years ago. Eric Bauza has contributed so much to the franchise, so it's cool that have him in this movie too.

To be fair, Warner Animation has made some real stinkers of movies based upon DC properties in recent years. Best never to assume anything prematurely.

It's interesting to see Leo having his swords traditionally instead of pop-culture Ninja way. I hope we see more of that in future iterations, cause it makes more sense.
