"TMNT Magazine"... from the 90s

Does anyone remember this? Does anyone still have it?

https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/...20170806182215

I remember a lot of crazy comics in it that I always assumed were a part of the Archie TMNT Adventures (some drawn by Jim Lawson, I think?)... but obviously they were either retold in TMNTA or just ignored. Namely, the Warrior Dragon stuff. Like as in, the Warrior Dragon stuff was done way better in TMNT Magazine than it was in TMNTA.

If anyone has copies they wouldn't mind getting rid of, I'd love to recollect this.

Also... I swear I may have made a thread like this years ago. Apologies if so.

Leo656 03-18-2019 01:52 AM

Ahh, there we go.

I know there was a thread about these once upon a time, but I can't even remember how long ago, so it's probably fine.

I may have had that exact same issue, but I can't quite remember. The cover definitely looks familiar. I had a few of them, but they all got wrecked and then lost in one of our many moves. Sad.

I too would love to pick some of these up if they ever turn up. I was a big fan of those 80s/90s magazines... He-Man/MOTU (there were two separate mags, I think one was from England), Ghostbusters, TMNT, even Garfield all had their own mags back then. It was quite a craze. They were all mostly the exact same format with different characters, but still very cool. Sadly, I don't have any of them left. :ohwell:

I’m extremely certain that X-Entertainment/Dinosaur Dracula did an article on these before with a ton of pics.

The welsh magazines, more here: http://forums.thetechnodrome.com/sho...t=welsh&page=2

You'd be correct. He featured the first issue and I remember he specifically mentioned the first comic story with Man Ray and Lobster-Dude, but forgot to get any scans of it. Unfortunately, the article is currently offline with most of X-E. :tsad:

Leo656 03-18-2019 05:07 AM

I'd love to meet Matt. He loves going to the flea market that's literally 60 seconds from my house but never replies to me on FB. Sigh.

Chet 03-18-2019 06:16 AM

I had several. A subscription to them came when you joined the Turtle Force fan club. I remember they had some beautiful pull-out posters by Michael Dooney that I'd put on my wall:

[EDIT] (link in next post is less messy than the big images I originally posted)

I think the Michaelangelo one had him on a skateboard at the beach with a Hawaiian shirt.

I haven't thought about it for YEARS but yes I definitely remember it and had it. Some really stellar art in it.

Welsh Publishing was the name of the publisher of the U.S. magazine.

Andrew NDB 03-18-2019 12:48 PM

Yeah, that was throwing me off. Like, "Welsh? What do you mean it's a Welsh magazine? I literally used to buy these at the store in Seattle."

sdp 03-18-2019 06:49 PM

It's a shame these things aren't more appropriately archived.

Sorry if I've offended you. :trolleye:

Leo656 03-18-2019 07:00 PM

Sadly, I don't think most of us as kids had the foresight to properly take care of these kinds of things.

I recently found a box of old magazines from when I was a kid, and they look like someone ran them over with a lawnmower. I wish I could go back in time and beat my own ass. But that's kind of a daily thing already and the reasons vary. That's just one of several.

but yeah I wish all this stuff was easier to access and research

Roseangelo 03-18-2019 10:08 PM

I have all of these. Complete copies, plus separate copies of all of the comics (which had no relation to the Archie series, just a similar style), plus duplicates of all the posters.

The posters are the real stand out elements of these. Top-notch art by Michael Dooney, Eric Talbot, and Peter Laird that I don't think ever got republished anywhere else.

Leo656 03-18-2019 10:53 PM

Heeeeeyyyyy, on a completely unrelated note, I'm conducting a government survey, and I'm gonna need your home address, working hours, full listing and description of all your pets, number of first-floor windows, how strong your drain pipes are, and who your alarm system provider is.

It's a standard survey, we're doing it with everybody.

Enscripture 03-19-2019 12:16 AM

I have all of them. If I feel like it, I could HD scan all 13 if ya'll REALLY want them. They're kinda long some puzzles or whatever might be filled in. I scanned all the comics a long time ago

Sabacooza 03-19-2019 01:35 AM

I'd appreciate the scans. Any day I can fill out my TMNT collection is a good day.

Enscripture 03-19-2019 01:57 AM

One magazine had no comic (#12)
EDIT: Looks like the ones I named (No Ads) are the full magazine so there's a few I scanned fully a long time ago

Oh yeah I remember that survey, I did it a few years back, I remember it clearly because it was just a week before my house got sacked, what an unlucky coincidence.

Thanks Enscripture.
By any chance did you ever do scans for the rest of the 2012 magazines?
Thanks for all the scans. Good stuff Ive never seen

Not yet. And I think that thread got purged or something

The-Shredder 03-19-2019 11:16 AM

The art on these is incredible. I wouldn't mind seeing a future incarnation in that style someday.

Ah, cool. Very standard and normal. Well, I employ a personal security team of four brothers. All about 18-ish. 5’2”. And they say they took karate as kids. They work for pizza, so I didn’t question them too hard in the interviewing process.

Thanks a bunch! I had forgotten that Dooney did one of those short magazine comics!
