colored bandanas or no?
 

I like how they have different colours, otherwise how else you gonna tell them apart?

I prefer the colored masks. Makes them more intresting, more individualistic. And red doesn't make sense in the original comics either. Plus it's hard enough in some of the old black and white comics to tell who is who, without their weapons. Besides, even Laird has stated that the colored masks have grown on him. They'll never make their way into the Mirage books. But they do help make the turtles individuals.

Yea..im kinda partial to both...the all red shows them as one cohesive unit..kinda like sports uniforms...i think it better shows them acting in a more team mentallity...but the colored is kinda neat for the same reasons...it shows the indidviuality of each turtle....so im neutral!! :D

I do like how they were all red in the Mirage comics, made them look more like a team, and more like gritty ninja bad-asses. However, I do like the different colored bandanas more. The whole individuality thing everyone has said. How each color kinda matches each Turtle's personality. Plus, if it weren't for the different colors, you probably wouldn't be able to tell who's who if you can't see their weapons.

I like the colored bandanas with the black pads.

All red is good too, but you really don't see that too much because the Mirage books are in B&W. So I guess I'm more used to the colored.

Coloured for sure. It's what I grew up with and it's what I'll always see them having.

It Depends. In Mirage, I don't want to see multi colored Bandanas, but in Movies/TV-shows it does work just fine.

I like the multi-colored ones, but I'll always prefer the red ones.

I know it makes them look more like individuals, but they don't need different colors for that; They are different enough in personality.

Plus, the all red ones make them look more like brothers in my eyes.

I like the colored bandannas; it reflects each of the Turtles' individual personalities. I don't mind seeing them all wear red, though, since I like the idea that it makes them look more unified. :)

I like the colored bandana mostly because if you look up the meaning of the colors, they fit thier turtle's description almost right on ususaly.

You kinda needed an either option on that poll, cause although I generally prefer colours, as I'm lazy and find that easier to tell them apart, I don't have an issue with the red either. It makes 'em look meaner.

Exactly. You know that you and I have spoken about this a lot. But the colors really do match their personalities. If you look up color meanings. Here's a couple color meaning things, the second one for each character is the Japanese color meaning. They are actually very close to their personalities in most respects. :)

Leonardo -

Those actually fit the chracters pretty well.

I prefer the all-red look. Gives the characters less a feeling of "Power Ranger"-ism and it also just flat-out looks cooler. :P

No, they didn't.

Yeah, the Power Rangers came later IN AMERICA... but characters and ideas like that have been in Japan for decades.

I usually like stuff from the old cartoon better, but the read masks look a lot cooler in my opinion.

I personally like the multi-colored bandanas. The red ones just seem odd to me. And those colors fir the personalities well.

I'm a Fan of both, While the Colored ones do help show there individuality, the Red ones made it so that the turtles could show there individuality by they way they acted.......

But they really didn't have all that much of an individual personality, in the way they acted. Not in my opinion anyway, in the early mirage stuff. And heck, going by Volume IV, the Utroms tattoo'd them, so they could tell them apart when they didn't have their signature weapons with them. :)

I love the multi-colored masks just because it allows artists for the shows to utalize all 3 primary colors as well as all 3 secondary colors.

They had far more individual personality in the early Mirage books than most of the old cartoon series (the new series, based on the Mirage books, seems to try and differentiate them a bit more).

In the Mirage comic, you could always see them doing their individual "hobbies", such as with Don tinkering, Leo reading popular fiction, and Mike and Raph sparring. In the cartoons, they were almost always doing the same things, such as eating pizza, watching movies, playing video games, etc etc. The time the original TMNT spent at the farmhouse (which the new series bumped over erroneously) also really highlighted the differences between them.

Just my opinion, of course.

Personally, I prefer the colored bandana style...I'm not sure I would have liked red bandanas for all four on the cartoon.

Since I grew up with the colored bandana's, I was shocked when I first saw the all red one's. I thought "Oh no! They've cloned Raph 3 times!" Then I realized that they all had the same color. I like the colors more, especially for the cartoon/movies. Gives the cartoon a more colorful look too. :tpizza:

It's irrelevant in the black and white books anyway, but the coloured bandanas do make it a lot easier to tell what's going on. Actually, for me, the Mirage books started out not really emphasising any character differences at all, so it didn't really matter who was saying what. But then you want to mass-market something, so individual personalities have to be emphasised...it's a lot easier to sell that way.

Have to wonder what kind of teenage boy would opt for purple or orange though...and how long they fought over who gets to have red.

I'm going to go out on a limb, and say that Splinter probably assigned their colors. Especially if he followed color meanings, and based them off their personalities. It makes sense to me anyway. :)

Well the Red Bandanas were pretty sweet.
I didn't have trouble telling them apaart since you could just look at thier weapons.But I prefer the different colors.since they fit the characters well.

I figured something like that. Except in my little fic, I don't think he put any previous thought into their colors or names.
