A Live Action Series?

Not sure if I put this in the right place, so please move it if needed.

Saw this pop up on Tumblr.

Apparently Ciro announced at the panel that there is going to be a Live Action Series with the original 2012 voice cast. :o

FredWolfLeonardo 07-20-2019 01:10 AM

Don't tug at my heartstrings.

I don't wanna get hope until I'm absolutely sure this is not some misunderstanding, or an idea that will never come to fruition.

I was told that Ciro was just throwing out an idea for a cool Netflix show. (would like that too Ciro)
No announcements so that would sound about right.
Gasped when I first saw it though.

Ah, so it was just an idea, damn I thought it was official.

Sorry guys.

So I've seen someone comment anyway (not sure if they were are the SDCC). Don't know for sure myself but is seems to make sense. Course I would have liked it to be true, if he wanted to just call it 'Turtles' that might have meant a little older too.

I think Ciro is working on something else but not sure what it is.

Shark_Blade 07-20-2019 03:08 AM

I hope this comes true.

80gmrp 07-20-2019 06:43 AM

This was quite a pleasant surprise. Granted, I know it’s not official, nor did I personally go to ComicCon to be able to confirm this rumor or not, but hopefully it is true, given that, in some ways, I prefer Ciro’s direction with the franchise. It would also give reason for him to be there, given the 2012 series is over.

Sabacooza 07-20-2019 08:38 AM

There was also an interview with Bobby Herbeck that worked on the original movies that said they were working with Viacom to try and get a tv series made that went back to the original movie designs or something like that so there might be something to what Ciro said.

I just wish Ciro can make a CG movie based on the 2012 series direct to DVD/blu-ray. The show ended a few years ago now, it's the perfect time to revisit it for a movie taking place after the series ended (well before the timeskip of the last 3 eps, I guess)

The comment section goes to show just how stupid people in this fandom are.

I don’t follow you there, but then, I only managed the courage to look at a small number of the most popular comments. Either way, I think we need to remember that it’s also a problem with YouTube’s community in general: I’m taking a hiatus from uploading my music there for that reason.

Well, given that a wish for a live action Netflix series has been floated around here before, it's nice to see at least one 'official' TMNT person would also support such a thing. :tcool: Even if actors have no say in things actually happening or not. (Though I'd definitely want the Turtles to be and sound older than in 2012).

Yeah, if the interest is big enough then a live action might be considered in some form at some point, won't hold my breath for the time being though.

So far as this, had it been an actual thing and the VA's were even available and willing, they could just do a lightly older voice (if the characters were a little older) they aren't teens after all.
Hoon Lee of course would be just fine as we've heard him.

The Deadman 07-20-2019 12:07 PM

If we got a live action series, the voice actors from the '87 cartoon should voice them.

This and it have nothing to do with Blue Line.

I disagree. As much as some people love the 87 show, those cartoonish voices would be very jarring for live action

Powder 07-20-2019 03:49 PM

None of the previous cartoon voice actors would really be a good fit IMO.

Leonardo2003 07-20-2019 04:42 PM

Do we actually think something live action would work today? The charm in those movies was off the charts. But that was nearly 30 years ago. I just can’t see it happening, although I’m not knowledgable at all with what the creators would be able to do with today’s technology.

IndigoErth 07-20-2019 05:15 PM

Believable enough mocap CGI would probably be the better option, but that likely high budget though...eek.

Shark_Blade 07-20-2019 06:59 PM

Just do it with those suits and amp up the violence and gore like Netflix’s Titans and The Punisher level.

lol for real. I guess we will wait and see.

IndigoErth 07-20-2019 09:55 PM

But would materials used for suites today be any more durable than back in the early 90s or is it basically the same stuff? Because a series is a heck of a lot more hours of wear and tear than a couple of films, esp if you "amp up the violence." What is more budget friendly in that case... numerous constantly replaced suits or mocap/CGI that doesn't wear out?

People seem to be hype for the Dark Crystal series on Netflix

Original TMNT Cartoon Fan 07-21-2019 03:22 PM

I don't think the voice actors from any previous incarnation should voice, unless it's a sequel. It would just lead to confusion.

Allio 07-21-2019 08:48 PM

*Fifth ninja turtle, also female
*Dragon takes over Shredder, could be Dragon Lord.
*A (possible) live action series with the synergy of the 90's film

We have truly entered the Next Mutation era of Nick's TMNT.

Vicky82 11-16-2019 02:14 AM

So it looks like this Live action series could still happen, due to this deal between Netflix and Nickelodeon.

Well seeing that it was on NickAlive gave a glint of hope but it does say that it has not been conformed by Nick or Netfix.
Excitement remains restrained until an official confirmation :)

IndigoErth 11-16-2019 09:40 AM

Alright, it's getting confusing now. :tconfuse: Is this blog run by Nick or someone who works for them? Some of the language used is obviously pulled right from that We Got This Covered article posted in the other thread that others have said is already known in the past to put stuff out there that isn't true.

edit: Since the bottom of the page (alongside the copyrights) says "All Nickelodeon News is accurate at the time of posting" then I'm going to assume this blog isn't run by Nick or a close affiliate and may just be as confused as anyone else.

But... while it would suck to generate hype for a thing that isn't real, if 'official' people see that then maybe it'll at least push them a little in the direction of similar ideas in the future and get that idea into their heads...? Or at least in terms of doing a more mature series.
