April's lack of a lovelife in the original cartoon
So as we know April is nearly always romantically paired with Casey in nearly all incarnations. However in the OT Casey was a wacko and he and April never got romantically involved. Besides that April never got with anyone else on-screen either, and never mentioned wanting to date anyone.
In the Konami Arcade games based on the OT, they said April was 27: https://live.staticflickr.com/3182/2...8e8699f2_b.jpg Do you think OT April ever had a boyfriend? Or was, "married to her job?" At age 27 she was nearing 30, so I'd find it surprising if she never had a romantic partner at all by then. |
When it came to Bugman, she "had a thing for that thing" and said she'd "leave the light on" for him.
|
I think it was painfully obvious that she was married to her career.
|
She was an independent career woman who didn't need no man!!
|
We’re overlooking the obvious. She spent a lot of time with Irma.

In The Great Boldini, April kissed the seargeant but I guess that doesn’t count as love? I think it was for relief. |
What about REX-1?
Obviously it was one sided with him but he was attracted to her, until the female robot came along in his final episode. And while we're on the thread, I call bull in the OP's picture which states that April was only 115 lbs, I don't buy it. |
I'm guessing, they didn't think kids would care, so it was never touched upon.

It was mentioned that she dated a scientist that worked for Dark Water in State of Shock.
She also went out with Seymour Gutz at the end of Enter:Mutagen Man after he changed his appearance. She also had Casey Jones's number so there could have been an underling relationship between them. As mentioned above, she was a career woman, but she did date just never had a serious dating relationship because her career came first. None of the human leads have that much of a romantic history, none of the four focused members of the Channel Six News team or Saki or Yoshi. Romance was perhaps the one element that was rarely applied in TMNT 1987 and TMNT as a whole. TMNT has the ability to tap into many genres, but aside from pairing their human friend with the most common human they fight alongside (Casey Jones) there is not much in romance for April or TMNT as a whole. As far as April's stats, considering the Turtles are supposedly around 5ft tall and she is not even an inch over 5 feet, I find it off. I would have though April to be around 5'6. |

Its interesting because she had a love life in the comics. She's normally paired with Casey Jones. But in the Archie Comics. She was paired with Chu Hsi who can turn into Hothead the Warrior Dragon.

Interestingly enough as a kid, April being single made her that much more desirable. Like I don't think it woulda been the same if she was fawning over a guy consistently on the show as an official love interest.
I'm case you're wondering about say, 2K3 April, I was too old to care if she had Casey or not. |
Looking like that, she'd be fighting off potential suitors left and right, especially as a TV reporter which would make her something of a local celebrity. Every guy she knew would be trying to see what was going on under that jumpsuit.
This is one'a those, "It's a kids show so we don't need to go there" kinda things, for sure. No chick with a body like that stays single unless they got the Herp, or worse. |

I definitely got the sense that Shredder had eyes for her, more than once.

And plenty of heathy women have a healthy weight of 115lbs. It was the 80's, and the fatdemic wasn't in full swing yet. Just because 40% of the US is fat, doesn't mean 115 is underweight. Also, we all know a turtle dick is impressive as all hell, and there were 4 of them. |

In one of the European vacation episodes, when Shredder was trying to conquer the world using a magical sword (and make himself king in the process), he explicitly tried to make April his queen. Had he succeeded in his plan there, you could've expected a royal dynasty that ruled the earth, all descended from April and Shredder  |
Is there anything that contradicts that profile from Turtles the Arcade game saying April is 27? That feels like it would be right about her age in the original cartoon, but I don't know if she was ever stated to be anything else.
Funny how that videogame profile also shows April sporting some massive cleavage with her top unbuttoned, she didn't have it like that in the show. Looks like a pic you'd see in a modern day online dating site like OKcupid or tinder but it's from 1991. |

Close enough, I guess. Quote:
No way is a woman of her height (which I think could also be wrongly reported, she towers over the turtles) and curvature that light  |
I was gonna say, I definitely remember April explicitly stating in at least one episode of the old cartoon that she was either 27 or 28 but I couldn't remember which.
I also think 115 lbs is extremely light for a woman about 5'8 with that amount of "curvature". I'm about 5'8 with a fairly "slight" but reasonably athletic frame, BMI about 26%, and I weigh on average anywhere between 160 and 175 depending on a variety of factors. Granted, I'm a dude, but my arms and legs aren't significantly thicker than any average person, be they male or female. The median "healthy" weight for anyone who stands 5'8 would be between 130 to 150 based on a variety of factors. A woman at that height who weighed 115 would be borderline anorexic-looking. They definitely wouldn't have such large, full breasts. I used to perform physical evaluations on people almost every day and there really isn't a ton of variance in body types and body structure. One of my most fit female clients is about 5'7 with almost no body fat, with fairly ample, er, "assets", and she recently weight in at about 142. Given the way she's drawn, I'd put FW April at about 130-ish if she's 5'8. That's about average, especially given how she's neither drawn to be "buff" nor a stick figure. This does roll right into something I always used to laugh about in fighting games, though, with the characters' body weights being just completely wrong. Like half the guys in Street Fighter II or whatever would always be underweight by a good 30-50 lbs based on how muscular they were drawn to be and what their listed height was. Always gave me a chuckle, but moreso once I started working in the fitness industry and was constantly looking at data on what weights generally went with various body structures. Bottom line, video games are generally bullsh*t when it comes to getting vital stats correct. But I guess that's to be expected, given how most games are programmed by stick-thin, chain-smoking Japanese people who probably don't work out. :trazz: How're they supposed to know? They're just making up numbers. |

But I guess how it's similar to how most boy band types have to appear single so they don't crush the dreams of their fangirls knowing they're really dating someone else. |
Agree that 115 lb is rather light for someone 5'8 and doesn't really match how she's designed. That was my average weight for the whole of my adult life up through my 30s and always been thin at that weight and only 5'4. She'd have been rather thin at that weight.

didn't April leave Irma to die once? For the sake of a story?
Yeah definitely married to her career. |

In the season 8 episode "Cyber Turtles", while they didn't necessarily pair up April and Casey romantically. I've always felt that in that episode, they were trying to pay homage to their relationship in the first live movie.

My wife is 5’5”, 105, C cups.
You guys think fat is skinny. |
FYI, 4Kids-era April was listed as 10 pounds heavier in the official bio card that came with her action figure in Japan:

So konami FW April is underweight and JP bio card 2k3 April is in the lower end of normal weight by bmi standards

The Saki suit is probably made out of some light alloy alien tech to simulate a human weight.
|
I bet you part of it might have been the ethics and censorship board. After all we can't show she might be sleeping with someone and not married, better to have her single and not seeing anyone so the young mind can fantasize about her dating them and only them. Then again that might explain alot of the porn that's popped up over the years.

Funny how people project themselves into what's "normal".
April was 115, a normal health weight. If you fat, its time to diet. get over it. We've seen the pictures. Most of you are more than big boned. That doesn't mean April is in anyway underweight. Normalizing obesity is wrong. And if you fat and you trying to say fat is normal, well, these days, I guess it is, but its now 1/3rd is fat, and that's not a good normal, even if it the new normal. This is why so many of you are getting sick. Put the GD pizza down. Also, the turtles would weigh almost twice that. Bone shells would be heavy AF. |
