IDW will be releasing a new TMNT: Saturday Morning Adventures One Shot comic that will feature the return of Usagi, Its coming out in June.

This is really good, which characters from Usagi dimension you would like to see?

All of them, Because if you look at the covers, The turtles are in his dimension this time.

Gen appeared before in the cartoons, so I can't imagine he won't be there.

Stan has admitted it was a bit weird not only having his creation not being written and drawn by himself for the first time in a LONG time, but also doing the cover in the 87 cartoon style compared to normal. I am expecting that one to be the 1:10. If it's the 1:25 then mad scramble time.

Send him back to his home dimension as his second and last appearance title makes one assume he would. This proper closure is decades long closure!

His first episode was 'Usagi Yojimbo' and his second appearance was just two episodes later, 'Usagi Come Home'. One could assume that he would return to his home dimension at the end, but he remained on Earth under Obento's care until Donatello could relocate the dimension. It never happened. So his second appearance and deceiving title of an episode was his last appearance. This looks like it will return Usagi home.

So the comic will tie up some loose ends.

This will also be the first time 1987 Turtles will visit Usagi dimension

Why do I get the feeling that there will be a joke about the turtles being considered “naked” in Usagi’s dimension?

One of the issues with the 87 series is how many episodes aren't fully connected, And you have characters you never see in future episodes, Maybe twice or three times, For example Casey Jones, Perhaps this series will bring in some of those characters for the continuity, In the case of Usagi, Its a nice way to show what he's been up to since his appearances on the show.

This was incredible. It was a solid Usagi crossover in its own right, but I think this might be my pick for the SMA comic than felt the most like a real FW episode.

As much as I enjoy the current one-two punch of Schoening/Myers, this Jack Lawrence dude would be welcome back any time.

Honestly, reading through the Usagi special makes me wish we’d get another one soon. We're certainly do for another special anytime now. Maybe after the Perils of the Pantheon 3-parter.

I just wish they'd reprint it somewhere. The trades skipped it and I keep hoping that it'll pop up in the next one to no avail.

The trades skipped it? That’s lame. Where do you personally place it? I think it works better after Enter the Pantheon, since that story better continues directly after the Ogg-lympics.

The only continuity note is Shredder is still trapped in dimensional limbo, so they still have a little time before it’s a problem. I see they’re skipping it in the upcoming vol. 6 trade, but it could still be on 7.

I know they collected the April special. Did they do the Halloween special?

Everything I can find says vol. 7 will have issues 22-26 in it, so no Usagi one shot… the Halloween special was in vol. 3 from the looks of it.

Yeah, they collected the Halloween Special. The only issues that they left out of them were the Usagi crossover and the Endless Summer one-shot. (Which is apparently being collected in the upcoming "On the Go" reprints of the series, so that's a double dip for me, I guess.)

Something else they need to collect is “What About Tomorrow?” from the anniversary special. That’s a great short.

Now that I think about it, it’s been about eight months since the last special issue (this one, in fact) hasn’t it?
I wonder why? Surely issue #32 could have been a Christmas special issue to go along with the Halloween one? And there are plenty of characters like April who would be fun to give a special to as well.
It’s just odd to me.

Info is out about TPB volumes 7-9. They’re definitely skipping this.

Well, that sucks donkey-biscuits. Guess I’ll stick to the floppies for the foreseeable future with the hope of a hardcover collection actually collecting everything in order some day buried deep.

Yeah, it’s unfortunate. Plenty of people only read trades, so there’s a ton of fans out there that might not even know this exists, and it’s easily one of the best issues.

They will probably do an Ultimate Collection hardcover series with all the stories intended reading order, eventually. Hopefully it’s in there.

I was going to ask, there's no huge omnibus of Saturday Morning Adventures yet, right? Just the small 4-issue tpb's so far?

Going to hold out on this till we get huge omnibus collections then.

Guessing it's a whole licensing thing. Hopefully, they'll be able to include it in the compact "On the Go" collections like the also-skipped Endless Summer one-shot. (Which presumably wasn't included in the main trades due to it being the only SMA book not written by Erik Burnham.)

Oh, they’ll definitely know it exists since the special is referenced in issue #17. :lol:

I’ll be damned, I missed that. So the Usagi Special has to take place between #16 and #17.

I personally place it between issues 14 and 15, since the Drago mentions the Pantheon spent months researching the turtles after Rat Queen brought them to attention at the end of 14, that gives a nice long timeframe for Usagi’s adventure to take place in.

Yes, you’re definitely right. That fits way better and is closer to release order. I don’t know why I thought Ogg-lympics led directly into Enter the Pantheon.

The crossover is finally being collected! Like I hoped, it'll be included in the second "On the Go" compact collection.

Happy to finally get this in trade form, even though it'll involve a bit of double-dipping on my part. (At least these volumes are a bit cheaper than the regular ones.)

I came here to say that I just learned that the Usagi crossover is at least being printed in the On the Go! trades, but Chaotix12345 beat me to it by months and the forum didn’t even bother to let me know! :lol:
Still a pipe dream, but hopefully someday there’ll be a hardcover for SMA. Wishful thinking, but it’d make me happy. No matter what happens and no matter how many different versions of the characters I enjoy, these will always be my turtles at the end of the day.

Your Archie run collections are probably way better than ours, and I’m willing to bet have been out for quite some time. We have another 2 years to get to #72/YotT.
