Artists You've Seen Live
Let's see, the list of mainstream bands I've seen over the years:
10 Years (twice) Fair to Midland All That Remains Asking Alexandria Smile Empty Soul Taproot Bullet for My Valentine From Ashes to New Creed 3 Doors Down Finger Eleven I'm sure there's more but I cant remember off the top of my head |
And countless other smaller bands. I loved going to concerts but working full time and being a dad makes it difficult. |
The only one anyone here can recognise is the Iron Maiden.
I saw a few small/local bands as well, but no point naming them since no one will know them. The Iron Maiden concert was back in 2013 already. Haven't been to a concert ever since. I was big into metal when I was 18-24, but never was a concert goer, really. Which meant I'd lose cred with most metalheads I knew, but whatever, I don't care. There isn't any other band I'd like to see live. Iron Maiden are one of those exceptions of an old band with all of its members still being around and kicking. And they also haven't sold out like Metallica did. Would I have liked to see the likes of Alice in Chains, Guns n Roses, Judas Priest Slayer, Megadeth, etc. in their prime? Ofc I would. But I either wasn't born yet or was a little kid, so... |
Most of all, I'd like to see Gorillaz in concert, but until then, here's who I have seen.
The Misfits Nihilistics Agent Orange Belakiss Roger Waters (x2) Chuck Berry Ozzy Osbourne Rob Zombie Explosions In The Sky Lichens Necro (x2) Mr. Hyde Sabac Riviera Regime Sean Strange Nems Agnostic Front Shai Hulud Hatebreed God Forbid Kidz In The Hall Little Brother Murs Between The Buried & Me Veil Of Maya Horse The Band Wu-Tang Clan Video Games Live Cattle Decapitation Dying Fetus Cerebral Bore Rancid (x2) The Interrupters The Bird & The Bee Dropkick Murphy's The Bronx Countless other lesser-known acts, too, of course. I also used to PLAY live a fair bit, which included opening for acts like Cage, Killer Mike, Riff Raff, Army of the Pharoahs, & more. |

Can someone please change this to artists and groups, instead of limiting it to bands.

I am only listing bigger name bands. My old band opened up for:
- The Toasters - Mustard Plug - Against All Authority - The Queers - River City Rebels - The Koffin Kats - A Global Threat - Valient Thor - Agent Orange - I think that there is more, but I jist can't think of any more. Bands that I have seen live that were not local (Most of these bands I have seen multiple times). I went to a lot of warped tours back when they were good: - Aquabats (I got to dress up and fight MC Bat Commander on Stage) - Phenomenauts - The Adicts - Bad Religion - Muse - Whole Wheat Bread - Gym Class Heroes - Rise Against (I don't like them) - The Code - Against Me - The Urge - Anti-Flag - Sub-Humans - Agnostic Front - GBH - Rancid - Nofx - The Offspring - Goldfinger - Mxpx - Lit - Simple Plan (I hate them) - Afi (old stuff used to be cool) - Swingin Utters - Tiger Army - The Unseen - Lower Class Brats - Less Than Jake - Streetlight Manifesto - Reel Big Fish - The Casualties - The Flatliners - Flogging Molly - Murphy's Law - The Transplants - Catch 22 - RX Bandits - Sublime With Rome - Leftover Crack - Days n Daze (I don't like them) - The singer from MU 330's solo project - The Suicide Machines - Mad Caddies - Bouncing Souls I am probably missing a decent amount. Most of the Metal Bands I saw at Ozzfests or Pointfests - Pantera (I got to see the real Pantera at Ozz Fest 2000) - Metallica - Volbeat - Slipknot - Marilyn Manson - Mudvayne - Ozzy Osbourne - Black Label Society - Static X - Incubus - Linkin Park - Crazy Town (they suck) - Disturbed - P.O.D - Methods of Mayhem (they also suck) - Breaking Benjamin - Prophets of Rage (2 bigger name bands opened up for them, but I thoughtthey sucked and don't remember them) Actually I decided that I will add to this just for fun. I'll see how much I can remember. |
Trans-Siberian Orchestra.
Otherwise, I've seen Kansas, Boston (including one concert without Brad Delp), and a few other musicians. Kudos for anyone that's seen Ozzy on-stage. He's sort of banned in my city for taking a p*ss on the wall of a historic building that draws in a lot of tourists on a daily basis. (Hopefully, it's just a rumor.) |
Bruce Springsteen and E Street Band
Admittedly, am not much for live music, but in Bruce's case, definitely keeps the blood pumping, and made for a fine occasion with friends. |
Thank you for changing. Now, I can proudly tell you I've seen Dolly Parton performing live, twice. (Video films not filmed or uploaded by me)

So far, my favorite song from him despite it being a cover song done by Johnny Cash. |
Sepultura is the only band I've seen.
|
Here’s my list:
Tame Impala: Insane light show and great vibes. The Arctic Monkeys: Killer performance with a lot of energy. Billie Eilish: Unique and super engaging. The Killers: Great live sound and crowd interaction. |

Live
Back in the day I went to harvest crusades with my youth group and church gatherings but that was a long time ago---can't remember who we saw but they were good and the crowds were insanity. As for the smaller venues i can't remember if it was breaking benjamin or somebody else but i saw a band play at a smaller venue---a bunch of years ago... if only i could see LP LIVE but that's impossible for me really.

Barely any, really. Willie Nelson as a kid, then Oasis later on. That's it, I think.
|
I‘m going to see Kvelertak in two weeks, a Norwegian Rock/Metalband I‘ve been a huge fan of for the last 15 years and who are on their farewell tour now. A bit sad to see them go but they released five strong albums and better to finish like that than to drag on and **** out mediocre material for years.
Then, in August I have tickets for Queens of the Stone Age who might just be my favourite band ever. I‘ve only seen them live once which was almost 18 years ago and I’m beyond excited. Are any British members going to the final Black Sabbath concert in Birmingham? Tickets are expensive (starting at 200 Pounds) but on paper, it sounds like the greatest concert of all time with Sabbath in their original line-up, numerous amazing metal bands performing as well as Ozzy doing a solo set. Might of course be huge disappointment since Ozzy can‘t walk anymore and is heavily suffering from Parkinson‘s disease. Also, Bill Ward hasn‘t performed at all in about ten years? But still, it could be the greatest thing ever. |
Alice In Chains (with DuVall, not Staley)
Bloodhound Gang Bon Jovi Bullet Boys Carlos Santanna Chevelle Cinderella Crossfade Deadsy Disturbed Dokken (twice) Eve 6 (twice) Everclear Filter (probably 4 times now) Fiona Apple Gravity Kills Hoobastank Huey Lewis and the News Joe Satriani Jon Petrucci (from Dream Theater) Killswitch Engage Korn (I think 4 times) Limp Bizkit Linkin Park Lit Local H Nickelback Night Ranger Pearl Jam Poison Puddle of Mudd Rammstein Ratt Scott Weiland & The Wildabouts Serj Tankian (solo) Sheryl Crow Shinedown Slaughter Sponge (at least 4 times) Spike 1000 Stabbing Westward Staind (Twice I think) Static-X Stone Temple Pilots (probably 6 times I think) Stone Temple Pilots w. Chester Bennington Sugar Ray Survivor The Crystal Method The Exies The Monkees The Naked & Famous The Wallflowers Theory of A Deadman Velvet Revolver (I think 5 times) Violent Femmes Weezer Wild Orchid (the group that put Fergi from the Black Eyed Peas on the map) I am absolutely confident I'm missing a few..... The Offspring x 2
Iron Maiden Linken Park Chris Cornell Judas Priest (while working as a psych nurse, I got to escort a patient) Anthrax (with John Bush) GnR twice (once without Slash and Duff and once with). AC/DC The Rolling Stones (before Charlie Watts died). Black Sabbath (The End Tour with Ozzy, Tommy and Geezer) Smashing Pumpkins Duran Duran QotSA Ben Folds Dragonforce PUSA Steel Panther x4 Lady Gaga x 3 Dandy Warhols Me First and the Gimme Gimmes Kiss x 2 The Wiggles. Had tickets to see Van Halen, but the tour was cancelled. I regret not seeing Queen (pre the movie coming out). Aleady had tickets to see Lady Gaga and Dandy Warhols in the same week, if I went it would've been 3 nights in a row and that gets expensive. I thought, it's just Adam Lambert. Both Roger Taylor and Brian May were in the VIP box for Gaga, as they were playing the same venue the next night. Then the movie came out, they did a stadium tour and tickets were way more expensive. |
I had to amend my list there to add The Monkees... Yes the band from the 60's T.V. show!
Also remembered that I've seen The Exies a few times as well. Great band - a lot of you might remember the song "My Goddess" which got huge radio play everywhere in it's time. ANnnndddd The Naked and Famous. That was a cool show - at a small, small club in Evanston, IL 07/02/2018 - it was sort of an acoustic thing similar to the old MTV Unplugged shows. Very cool. |
Back when my sister was in high school, like 15 or so years ago, I came out here to Arlington Heights, IL where I now live, but not then, the summer festival came in time for July 4th and Styx was performing.
If I were to go to a concert, I would love to see the following: KMFDM Rob Zombie Gravity Kills Fear Factory Marilyn Manson Slip Knot |
So, I literally went to my first Linkin Park concert last night. One of the greatest experiences of my life.
|
Went to "Shen Yun" yesterday. We were interviewed and photographed by their in-house press person - it will be hysterical if we are put in a catalog or something for the show. They are notorious for that.
The show was great in many ways, fine in others. The narrative was constructed of a series of vignettes placed across various periods of Chinese history, and the most clear overarching theme I was able to pick out of it was basically "people against oppression". And, there was a substantial amount of "heaven and Earth" interaction yet no clear Daoism or dichotomous Yin-Yang style depictions. Which really makes me wonder if there is something to to the "cult" narrative of the Shen Yun movement - but I suppose acquitting myself of that nicely would take a true blog post about the show. On another note, the costuming was terrific and the 8k projection (or whatever it is) was actually pretty mystifying and unique. The music was great. I'd say that it's worth seeing but not remotely worth seeing at the ticket level we bought. Basically any of the cheaper tickets will do. The only thing you get from rows 1-3 are the "experience" of the rolling fog machine covering the first few rows in fog during a vignette here and there. |
Saw Billy Corgan and the Machines of God last night. He played a lot of the Smashing Pumpkins material from Mellon Collie & The Infinite Sadness (which I think was the point of the tour).
Here was the setlist: Le Deux Machina Glass' Theme Heavy Metal Machine Where Boys Fear to Tread Pentagrams The Crying Tree of Mercury Stand Inside Your Love Zero Porcelina of the Vast Oceans Sighommi Glass and the Ghost Children 999 Bullet With Butterfly Wings Muzzle 1979 Here's to the Atom Bomb Edin The Everlasting Gaze White Spyder Tonight, Tonight (solo acoustic with Kid Tygr) If There Is a God Bodies The Aeroplane Flies High (Turns Left, Looks Right) I have to say that note-for-note and vocal quality he and his band sounded terrific. I was really impressed with the sound quality. But also, he's a pretty "safe" player - he doesn't press himself vocally and basically relies mostly on that really unique tone he has always sung with to make the impression, so it's not a "risky rock show" as much as a solid one. He's a better guitar player than I knew. His other guitarist, Kiki Wong is a raging babe - omfg. I had no idea. If you're a Gen X'er and haven't seen Billy Corgan or the Smashing Pumpkins, I'd say that it's in the "Required Viewing" category at least once. |
Weird Al Yankovic.
Beeb. Blues Traveler. Lots of local acts and cover bands. I’m poor. |
My brother and I went to see The Hives the other day and they are just a wonderful bunch of megalomaniacs. Guys had wi-fi LED lighting on their suits. Awesome stuff.

Is there a good site that shows all tour dates bands have had over the years? As a teenager I went pretty much to most rock/metal concerts that toured were I lived, I'd like to make a list that's accurate with all the opening bands and such, if I go by memory I'm going to forget a bunch of artists or how many times I got to see them but to name a few:
Marilyn Manson Evanescence, Cold x2 Static X x2 Papa Roach x2 Staind Godsmack Sevendust Morbid Angel Cradle of Filth x2 NIN x2 POD Korn x2 Limp Bizkit Rob Zombie Rammstein Unkle Massive Attack Adema Pigface Lacuna Coil Slipknot Judas Priest Ozzy Osbourne Black Sabbath Black Label Society Dimmu Borgir Slayer Kiss Roger Waters Gwar Portishead Moby here are some more from going over the thread that I've also seen: Finger Eleven, 10 years, Taproot, Smile Empty Soul,, hate b reed, mudvayne, disturbed,, chevelle, killsiwtch engage, puddle of mudd, shinedown, I gotta work on this list, there's tons I've seen. Also just because I saw them doesn't necessarily mean I wanted to, but they were either the opener or headliner. I would've never paid to see Kiss or shinedown  |

When I still used some social media, I had a last.fm account where making lists of concerts you visited was relatively simple.
|
Saw the Stone Temple Pilots again on Saturday night at the Genesee Theater in Waukegan, IL. It was a great show - really well mixed and man... Dean DeLeo (who is now unbelievably 65 years old) is an honest to God guitar master. Honestly, he adds so much to each song now that it's like Eddie Van Halen placing in all sorts of little small songs within the main song and not missing a beat. Dean belongs on Satriani's G3 tour for real.
Very happy to see those guys again. |
My wife and I went to a John Coltrane tribute show with Isaiah Collier backed by a state-funded Big Band. I‘m not a big Jazz fan but it was absolutely great.
|

Interesting timing too - I've been into Don Shirley a lot recently here. Maybe Coltrane is next.... |
I actually went to a concert last month. Went to see Tormentor. A black metal band from Hungary. It was nice.
|
My favorite band I ever seen more than once is probably Warpaint. They sound kinda like an all-female version of Pink Floyd if they were from California instead of England
|
Foo Fighters came to my city (Regina) a few weeks ago. They were awesome. Put on a good concert.
|
I’m seeing Rush tonight
