So just to throw this out there. There is work going on for a Karai book with Andres Ponce on the art. All of it. This will segue into the graphic novels you've already seen out of me and DemonAlukard like the Image finisher, Odyssey, Origin, Forever War and The Shredder and the others already coming from that end. There will, for sure... also be... "mystical" stuff within.

How do you feel about Karai in general? Are there any boxes unchecked? For this project, of course, this is the same one that brokered the peace with Leonardo within the course of the Mirage City at War where she had to come to New York annoyed that Saki, her underling, left a mess for her to pickup the pieces of and sort out (and this is NOT any version that is related to Oroku Saki, like his daughter or granddaughter or any of that, to be clear).

Defining story? I suppose the sequence of events that lead to her losing control of the New York Foot branch to Saki in the first place.

At that point in time she was not in full control of the Foot and New York was given to Saki when he was 18. She ascended after that. The New York branch was an experimental thing that Saki earned.

Does it say that in volume 4, Tales volume 2 or something? If so I probably haven't read it. I just took a look at her dialogue in CaW and she doesn't make any explicit claims there about when she ended up in charge. All she says is that an ambiguous "we", so not clear if she means herself and other leaders or previous leaders of the Foot, lacked proper contact with him in the early days and the only clear reference to herself being in charge is that her advisors thought the New York factions would destroy themselves. Unless it's in a book I haven't read, I'm not really seeing any clear indication that Saki's branch pre-dates Karai's leadership.

Right on! Very excited for this, obviously.

Immediately after CaW would be an interesting time. Coming off a long, hard victory but at the cost of her daughter. But, as we’ve previously discussed, we also need to know how she ended up at odds with the turtles eventually, so as to make sense of “Silent Night”.

Well we know she’s a little older than Saki, but not by much (2 years older if you consider the Palladium stuff canon). And the fact that she’s acting as a field operative at all in CaW tells us she’s probably not the Big Boss. Probably more of a Captain or Major, to draw a military comparison.

Good enough, I suppose.

Also, we know from #1 that there’s some kind of “ruling council”. That’s probably who dispatched her after the Elite started going buck wild.

I'm curious to know if we can learn more about her relationship with her grandfather, The Faceless One. Although he was betrayed by Karai, perhaps Shredder only killed a kagemusha, and both Saki and Karai were fooled by him, or he had planned to resurrect in some way and continue to manipulate Foot Clan in the shadow.

I know you guys have a finite amount of stories planned for the future, so it’s cool to see some other familiar Mirage talent on pencils. Jim rules, obviously, but there’s plenty others that I miss seeing. Ponce being a big one we didn’t get much of. He certainly left a big impression though.

Come to think of it, has any official TMNT story dealt with Amai's father? Seems like he would naturally be an important part of Karai's life.

You doing indiegogo again? What’s the launch date looking like?

I don't want to do anything until I have a finished script (and I'm also a bit committed to doing something before this gets too firmly moving, which isn't to say I can't do two or three things at once, but I know I can only do one well at one focus point). And Ponce will do a few pages enough to begin the campaign.

Was thinking about this earlier, any good news?

Probably just flesh out her origins a little. Maybe go into which family/ clan she belonged to as well.

Kind of concentrating on the script for another Mirage thing.
