Mutating TMNT Figures
I just got back from my wal-mart and I managed to snag a Mutating Raph and a Mutating Mike. I'm only going to post one review seeing as they are basically the same figure.
The figure is actually almost all brand new scuplting. While the pictures we saw earlier looked like they were just repaints with new heads, these figures have brand new arms, legs, feet, hands, chest, side pieces and shell. They are more detailed than the old ones. The head is the same one used on the first wave turtles only with a shorter bandana. The arms and legs are both ball jointed and the ankles are jointed as well leaving the figures with 9 points of articulation but the arms are less articulated, so it is a trade off. (9 points seem really small, I guess I'm spoiled with the marvel legends series) However, there are some downsides to this: Raph and Mike (I'm also assuming Leo and Don) all use the same scuplt with the exception of the head. Also, when mutated, the bandana sticks out of the shell slightly. My other complaint about the figures is the fact that they have no tail! In terms of the weapons, they're really pathetic. All they get are reissued weapons from the first wave. On top of that they only get their basic weapons. All of these annoying aspects are easily overlooked by the fact that each figure comes with a canister of ooze. I would say you get about 3 times the amount that comes with the TMNT Mega Blocks kits. But it isn't the same substance as the mega blocks ooze. This stuff is thicker. It reminds me of Gak (remember that stuff?) All in all, I give the turtle figures 3 out of 5 stars. They are by no means great but for those who missed out on the mutating turtles the first time, I recommend picking up atleast one of these. |
Sounds great dude. Thanks for the review. I'm definitely getting some of these. Sounds AWESOME

Ooh, might have to get one to compliment the Mikey one I got years ago :)

I've noticed a few problems with my Leo already: the shell and body color dosent match the leg/head/arm/feet/side pannel color... infact, the shell and body look like they belong on a donatello figure. One of the side pannels is tearing already, and i've only mutated it about 6 times. The heads are hard to switch around, because of the shoulders. And speaking of arms, they don't fold back right, and it's really hard to close the shell. And the side pannels don't like to stay under the latches on the belt on his front =\. But the ooze makes up for all of that XD. |
Nah, I'd go for some fresh ooze. Min fell on the floor and i washed it off and now it smells and is dirty and is really really sticky :dead:
|
Mine is fine cept his arms keep popping off when I fold them back :dead:
Why would parents complain about tails? :O I have the new figure and he has a tail  |

I bought Rapheal and the foot guy. Thanks for the review on the Turtles, but can you give a review on the foot when you get a chance. Only because I can only afford one set of new figures so I leave them in their packaging.
|
I don't have a good enough digital camera to show the color diffrences... just imagine the body being a brown/green like first wave donnie, and the rest being the more blue/green that the first wave leo is. As soon as I get a hold of one of my friends with a cam, i'll post a pic of it.

I thought the tails were cute. :P |
Nate: TK likes putting pictures in his posts..
Everyone else: Those tails were cute! Dumb a$$ parents... My mom knew they were tails when she bought the old ones fer my bro... |
Are the Mutation figures more expensive then the normal figures? I saw them on Amizon for $10.99 I think... And I saw the Ooz at Walmart (in Canada) for $7.93 normally the regular figures are $6.93. I think the prices are $4.99-$5.50 or more in the United States, the reason I am asking is cause my mom is going down to the US with my Dad and my bro for hockey and I asked her to get me a few. I would have went but I have to stand in line for Nickelback tickets again... :D too bad I am gonna miss a NHL game!
|
the Mutation figs are $9.99 plus tax, so about 10.50-11.00 bucks.
|
Thanks, I thought they would be a little more expensive then the normal priced 5 inch figures, seeing as how much the ozz costs by it self.
