New Ep Discussion: "Return to the Underground"

Ugh...hate being sick. Well, welcome back to my little teaser thread. I know I usually have these up earlier, its just i've been so outta whack for the past two weeks like you wouldnt believe... :dead:

Well, the boys take a lil trip back to the center of the earth to see some friends. Can you imagine the conversations there?

Mike: "Hey, you looke different... new haircut? you but a nosejob? Maybe--Ahh, Acid!! I cant SEEEEEE!!!" *faints*

So yeah, I guess that buggy-eyed dude with the misshapened head is up to something, maybe? Who knows. At least we get to have a happy reunion with Quarry and the others.

And you thought PMS Alone was bad.. :teek:

Thanks for unlocking this, Michaelangelo! That was a pretty decent follow up to the three part “Notes from the Underground.” I think that the “Turtle Tumbler” would make a pretty cool toy and my only problem with the episode was that they never explained about the underground race (the bald guy). Well, what else is there to say? It was a Donatello episode! :D

For a second I thought that they were going to find the Technodrome! :lol:

That episode was filled with more great one-liners than I can count.

Don: "What kind of idiot do you think I am?"

Mike: "There's more than one kind?"

Mike: "What a great idea, let's go down the underground city for fun, AND GET EATEN!

I liked it ^.^ we know Quarry's real name now. Though I still dunno WHY I like Quarry, but yay Sydney! *snuggles the Donny ep*

Now... I'm just a liiiiittle confused. Did FoxBox up and change the time for the show for those in the Indiana region? I get up at 9:30 as I always do, turn on the TV, and.... see the intro for the Shaman King.

Don't tell me I missed it! I don't have a TV guide or anything like that for this week either to check. Man..... *goes to check and see what show is on now*

Yes, yes... A Donnie ep. Woo hoo! :D *ahem* Anyway... yeah, I rather enjoyed this episode. It was filled with great one liners. And a lot of nice little touches.

It was interesting to see Don get a little frustrated. You could tell this was very important for him to figure out. And I liked how it was Raph that wanted to go after him when he walked off at the beginning. And how when Don showed up at the end after they thought something had happened, it was Leo that hugged him. (If I saw correctly) It was just a nice episode that showed in many ways how close they are as brothers.

Even if they do like to tease each other. Hehe, Mikey's impression of Don. :lol:

Oh well, I really liked this episode alot. And not just because it was a Donnie one. :wink: :)

it wasn't a bad episode but i wish it talked more about the bald guy as well. Also, since Donny removed a crystal shouldn't the guy come back?

This left too many questions unanswered for me :|

Stupid Fox, I had a food warning scrolling across the top of my screen for the first 5 minutes.

This was a really good episode, I liked it alot more then the original Underground Triology. It's nice that the writers didn't forget about Don's promise to help the humans, that's some nice continuity. Learning more about Quarry was cool too. This show has some sweet character development.

Too many funny quotes from this episode to list them all, so lets just say that Mikey is a god. My favourite one was "Nets, I'm all out of nuts! I mean, Nuts, I'm all out of nets!" That was pure gold.

The Turtle Tumbler and the Tech Packs would make raelly cool toys.

I'm not sure what Time Zone you're in, but I know Turtles moved to 9:30 Eastern this week. It's a permanent change.

*grumble* Dont worry HT, I forgot the timechange too.... :evil:

pretty good ep. we should have gotten more info about those bald guys, and the 'whole story' (don said that he forgot to mention the 'whole story').

and when don took out the crystal, he wasn't supposed to come back. your supposed to turn the crystal to open the little 'prison'.

I liked it, it was nice to see the monsters go back to human. They seemed very happy about this. I liked when Mikey impersonates Don with his best nerd voice. :lol:

So does that mean it's on at.... 8:30 here now?

The episode was OK....My least favorite of season 2.....Great one liners tho...Does anybody else think that they are getting carried away with the gadgets and vehicles? I mean come on! They live in a sewer, have no money, and can build a drilling machine that can go through lava? And WTH was up with those stupid backpacks?!

Don: "Gentlemen...and Mikey...may I present the Turtle Tunneller!"

Everybody's been saying it was the Turtle Tumbler. I thought he was calling it the Turtle Tunneller. That makes sense since it makes tunnels. I'm surprised there have not been news or pictures of a Turtle Tunneller toy. They've been releasing the toys before we've seen the vehicles on the show, but not this time, I guess.

Anyway, yet another great Donny episode. Is there anything that Turtle can't do?

Don: "You think I wouldn't build this thing to withstand molten lava? What kind of idiot do you think I am?"
Mikey: "There's more than one kind?"

It was good that Donny actually lived up to his word to help Quarry, Stonebitter, Razorfist and the rest. The other monsters besides those three that we met on the Turtles' last adventure into the underground included what looked like King Nail. Just like last week's Evil Turtlebot, we have an original character from the video game making an appearance on the TV show.

I'm kind of mad Donny didn't do more testing on the syrum to see how stable it was. I mean, if one frequency made it go from crystal to liquid form, what's to keep a different frequency from turning it back into crystal form. Sydney could go to the opera, the singer would hit just the right note, and bam! She would have tiny pieces of crystal flowing through her veins. Also, the effects of the syrum could simply wear off after a while. Then everyone would change back unexpectedly and accidentally melt their families with acid spit. Man, I overanalyze this stuff waaaaay too much.

This episode was good, but I can't wait until next week's City at War, especially since I just read the story arc from the original comic just a few days ago. I'm sure the cartoon won't follow it too closely, but it should still be cool.

And baby makes three. :cry:

Next week someone make with the astral projection and drag me out of bed at 9:30! Can't miss my darling Karai...

Hehe, you know what the funny part of that is? When my brother and I were watching it, and they were falling toward the lava, I looked over at him and said: "You don't think he didn't build it to deal with heat, do you? They're going down deep into the earth!"

And then he said that line, lol. :)

Relay, King Nail appeared in Notes of the Underground. All of the beasts in this episode appeared in the old ones.

I still think the Stonebiter like guy is the coolest.

Still, it was an ok episode. Really similar to The Ultimate Ninja...

This episode was pretty good. A nice filler between last week's "What A Croc" episode (which was awesome) and next week's "City at War". I'm really hoping they start putting out the old Mirage comics out in trade paperback soon. I've only read vol. 1, no. 1 completely. I'd like to see some others.

I loved this ep! As much as I love Raph (who's my ESPECIAL fave, TIED with Donnie), Mike and Leo, there are times that Donnie is an especial fave, like in today's ep. Mikey was hilarious with some of the lines he came off with, and I had a real lump in my throat when the other Turtles thought that they'd lost Don for good. And Sydney, too, of course. She's a cool character, but Donnie IS the guys' brother. I know how I'd feel if I lost one of MY sibs.

On another note, I wonder if we'll ever find out the REAL scoop behind the Underground Race in those "cocoons"? That may be something that they'll explore more carefully in Season 3, but that's only a guess on MY part.

The only sour point came when our power went off for a second, shutting off our VCR just a minute or two after the opening credits got done and interrupting my taping of the ep! :flaming: :tmad: ARGH!!! Man, was I steamed!!! :tmad: :flaming: I hope they rerun it soon, so I can get it right. *grumble* :x Stupid rural power. :x It wouldn't've been so bad if it'd gone off during, say, Shaman King or something, but noooooo!!!! It just HAD to do it during while Turtles was on and I was taping it! *grumbles in frustration* Can't believe my luck sometimes. First the VCR remote gets dunked in a glass of tea and quits working, so I can't set the tape-speed right, and now this. Where's Donnie when I need his expertise at fixing stuff, anyway? :tsad:

I didnt like this episode that much. I love quarry and all them but this episode was weak. The turtle Tunnler was way too much like Shredders old Vehicle. Did anyone notice when donnie and sydney were looking for the crystal they used infared??? In lava??? How does that work!

You know it really bothered me that the Turtles found the rest of that guys species sealed like him, but then they never even mentioned it again. I mean, clearly they have to be planning another "Underground" episode for Season 3, but it was still weird to have a major revelation like that just glanced over and forgotten.

This one is as good as the Notes from Underground trilogy. The episode had more mutaten action in it. I like some of the gadgets that were on it.

I think Don got the idea of the Turtle Tunneler from reading Journey to the Center of the Earth. Yeah this one is truly a Donny episode. Since the last time they went to the Underground city it was more of a Mikey trilogy. only no late night honor movie quotes "There are somethings man was never ment to tamper with" :P

The dream Donny had was more mysticial than Mikey's dream. atleast we know that the crystals only weakness is sound waves.

Good to see Quarry, Razorfist, Stonebitter and the rest. I knew that Quarry's real name began with an 'S' there was a clue in NfU part 2 when she tries to say her name which sounded like "Sy".

I thought Sydney's cloke and outfit suit her very well. I'm starting to like Sydney's charater more than her mutated version. And I thought it was a good thing for the TMNT to called Quarry by her/she since they already found out what Quarry really is.

The Envity still crystalized. I thought he play a role in this episode. But we already know that he's gone out of his mind. I see that he didn't say the truth of his race's exsitences.

There was a good number of quotes in this one.

I like the part when Mikey got nets and nuts mixed up.

And his quote about Don's plan it went something like: Where do you get this stuff, Crazy R Us?

In other words I enjoy this episode it's good for the turtles to help people out. Now Sydney and the 6 other vitiums can now go back to their lives in N.Y.
I give this one 5 out of 5 stars.
I can tell that this isn't the last time the TMNT go underground. I can tell there'll be a revenge of the Envity episode or something planned for S3.

Heh, I almost missed this one. I had to go to a band contest for Solo/Ensemble so I set the VCR to tape it. I wasn't sure what time it was on, so I set the vcr to tape from 930 to 1000 and from 1030 to 1100.

As I was all set to leave, I thought about it, and then realized that I'd messed up and set it to tape at the wrong time. So I went back and fixed it, and all was well. =)

Though it ended up not mattering as I found out I didn't need to ride the bus to the event, so I went home and watched it and drove over after the turtles... =)

As for the episode, I liked it. But, I'm not overly critical, I've loved every Turtles episode that's come out, simply because, it's Turtles! Yay for fanboy attitude, eh? Anyway, the one thing that bugged me was the end comment, the "I forgot how beautiful the sun really was." It sounded cliched and put-on and a bit out of place... I dunno. Just sorta bugged me.

I have to agree with the entire "Where do they get the money for all of these gadgets?!". If it comes down to it, I liked the movie rendition of the Turtles the best. Their electronics consisted of a broken TV. In the third one Don had a computer system. Both of these are easily salvageable from a garbage dump.... but the parts to build the "Turtle Tunneller"? Less liekly. I dunno.... maybe... they do have a lot of refuse to work with if they really look, I mean, they could take a few trips to the Garbage Man's hideout and get a good deal of high-tech parts, it would seem. Same with Shredder's place. And maybe the Utroms had some technology caches they clued him in on. Oh well, theories, theories...

All in all, good episode, I enjoyed it. =)

GAH! I'm going through withdrawl this is the second week I've missed my turtles :( Damn Majorettes Competitions, damn time change! I told my mom to record it for my at 9:30 and she recorded it at the regular time, 10:30 :(

I thought this was a great ep, dudes! I'm surprised with how much implied nudity they got away with using when the monsters changed back into humans. They defintly wouldn't have gotten away with that in the original cartoon.

You seemed to have forgotten about the Utrom technoledgy that was left lieing around after the TCRI incident. Just like Baxter did with the exo-suit, Don could've easily utalised that hover scooter thingy to create the tunneler.

Today's episode was OK I liked last weeks episode more I guess These are great new characters though it was nice seeing them all again including king nail ect....I have this really odd feeling we haven't seen the last of the underground for some reason what do you all think?
Was it me or did the animation seem to be lacking in some parts of this episode?
Who ever said it before I have to agree Quarry Looks a bit like lord dregg it's the bug look though I guess...I like lord dreggs look more though.....
It was nice to see them go free but what the heck will they all do now they have been underground for so long don't you think it would be a bit hard for them to return to society? There family and friends were probably worried sick about them.
Oddly enough I almost fell for the donatello almost not making out of the lava thing I don't know if it's my being sick or the show being on so damn early now I'm half awake lol...but I did and shouldn't have fallen for that the good guys never get hurt......the episode was rather action packed though....I realy do wish we would have learned more about the underground big eye guys true storey that would have made me like the episode more
Over all I give it 7 out of 10 stars it was a decent episode but not the best I liked the modern love and what a crock episodes more.

The cloak I thought looked good with her outfit. I need to take another look at that outfit the next time I see the episode.

took the words out of my mouth.... I thought ok they just happen to have a vehicle that can swim thru lava, how convenient. The backpacks were a little weird, they just came out of nowhere..."oh hey you guys have backpacks on by the way.."
The story was pretty predictable and it seemed rushed. Maybe because the original Notes from the Underground was a three-parter, I dunno.
Another thing I thought was weird was Don , after about a year of not mentioning the Underground, all of a sudden is all about curing them. Weird...
Now that all the monsters are cured, I wonder if we'll ever see Quarry, Stonebiter, Razorfist, and company again? Maybe next season.

I think this also is my least favorite episode of the season so far... bring on City at War!

that is too evil....I had to wake up extra early for a structural geology field trip....took about 20 strikes and dips on rocks. :dead: anyways, that was a nice little filler episode and concludes the Underground story.

Blast. I didn't get to see this one, my cable decided to die out on me this morning.

First, I'd like to comment on the dream sequence. I've noticed over the last couple episodes, that they've stopped using sepia tones for flashbacks/dream sequences, and broadened their color scale. It's still monotone, just in blues and greens. Wonder if they just got tired of the browns. :P

There's also the semi-psychic effect the crystals seem the have on the Turtles. I don't think this story's gonna end with this episode.

Heh, I had a feeling the crystals held the key to curing the humans, but I figured that they'd simply carry pieces of the Crystal Moon with them, with is obviously what the humans thought, too. But I like Don's idea more.

More of the Underground Race! I knew there was more to this story! You know what that means... We're gonna visit again in Season Three!

I really like the outfit Quarry changed into, and I want one. But I noticed that while the Turtles had their backs turned while she was dressing, they didn't even close their eyes when she changed.

And that's a nice bit of contortionism on Leo's part to get out of that cocoon. Wow. :evilgrin:

There seems to be a little bit of chemistry between Don and Sydney. Don seems to be quite the "Ladies Turtle" in this series. :lol:

BTW, for all you people who say you can't get up at 8:30/9:30, because it's too early? I hate you. I wish I could sleep like that, but no, every morning at 7:00, whether I want to or not...
