Baxter Stockman Figure

http://www.afigures.com/g/?mode=view...00&start=0

It doesn't look that great to me. I wish they would have gone with one of the more humanoid version's of the character. Oh well, at least Usagi is looking cool.

Triceraton 04-13-2004 08:51 PM

Well, there's a lot of figures I wanted of Baxter. That thing certainly wasn't one of them though. But I'll still buy it, maybe even more than one so I can do customs with the Utrom body. That headsculpt for Baxter is awful though, this is the first time I think Playmates really missed on the new line(though the Splinter head wasn't that great either).

TMNTGal 04-14-2004 01:31 AM

Absolutely hideous! :dead: Even though I'm a completist, I'll be skipping this thing. Looks like I'll have to make a custom instead.

Roseangelo 04-14-2004 07:05 AM

eeh... yeah, I'll be skipping this, too.

I woulda bought labcoat Baxter, though. And they think people wouldn't want that. :p

Taloniss 04-14-2004 07:27 AM

EWW. I'll pass.

Skabbz 04-14-2004 07:35 AM

that thing looks stupid

bufo 04-14-2004 08:30 AM

That sucks, I hope this is a joke...that is truly ugly

OA 04-14-2004 08:37 AM

wow...that is really, really horrible! I mean, what were they thinking. Talk about toon inaccurate....they could have made so many cool versions of stockman...what a miss by Playmates... :(

Shadow the hedgehog 04-14-2004 08:43 AM

That figure isnt worth my cash...

coryroo24 04-14-2004 08:51 AM

hopefully a lot of things change with this figure

Chris 04-14-2004 09:29 AM

Ok that looks REALLY BAD, but here's the good news:

From Playmates:
Here is the latest on Stockman Spider Robot and on Usagi...
Stockman will be revised for sure and Usagi could be, but I think he is well on his way.

And here's the link where that came from:
http://www.action-figure.com/Article11512.html

Hopefully he'll look a LOT more like one of his TV versions before he's released, but hopes for a human version seem to be for nothing as I can't see playmates revising him that much :(

bufo 04-14-2004 09:55 AM

The Usagi one is still in his early stages, but he already looks like just what I want :)

BigApple3AM 04-14-2004 10:15 AM

I think the Baxter figure looks fine. Sure it's not the human baxter which I would much have preferred, but at least we're getting baxter. Like someone said we can take his head off and put it on an utrom body or something.

Usagi is looking great! The only problem I see with him is his pose. The pose makes it look like he won't have much articulation like the Casey Jones figure for example.

E-money 04-14-2004 10:24 AM

I don't know what is worse, paying $5.50 for this crappy junk figure of Baxter or $100 for a large crappy mold of ultamate turtles?!?!?! Downhill already Playmates? Last time it took 10 years for your Turtle series to hit the toilet.

darthsmozers 04-14-2004 03:43 PM

its for children, people, children!

Y2Bogus 04-14-2004 05:01 PM

I've seen worse toys and bought them.

Zachatello00 04-14-2004 09:41 PM

I think it's cool. Took me awhile, just like the Utrom Shredder idea. It'll grow on ya. :P

Playmates bashers, take it somewhere else. We've gotten great toys from these guys for the last sixteen years.

Spitfire 04-14-2004 10:47 PM

Im a fan of the show bent on collecting but Im not buying that....its just to retarded

I'm sorry, but I have to WORK to get my things now. $5.50 is just under an hour of work for me, and I'm not going to waste my money on a figure that, IMHO, looks beyond bad.

And since I want this line to be GREAT, I'm going to say when I think they're messing it up. I would also think, that they'd realize that if a die-hard collecter like TMNT Gal is going to pass on this that they got it wrong. Hopefully they'll fix it, otherwise they're arn't getting my cash for this one.

The only think that I'd like about it, is if you can reattach his arms and things. Sorta make your own figure. But even then, the figure needs a make over, big time, before I'm gonna even think about getting it.

milweskee 04-15-2004 01:28 AM

Wow, I haven't been here in a while. All this new stuff. I'm astounded by that Baxter Stockman figure. Playmates has to know better than that. I don't even think children are stupid enough to buy something like that.

MikesPizzaShack 04-15-2004 11:34 AM

ya the figure looks horrible. i almost puked up my lunch after seeing it... playmates needs a good kick in the face and to be set on track...i say we get a mob and run down to the HQ and do something lol

Dragos 04-15-2004 04:48 PM

Baxter

Maybe what we are seeing is the final form that Baxter will have in the cartoon series. Honestly, something changes about Baxter everytime he appears in an episode. I would think it would be difficult for Playmates to keep up with all the different variations he is going through and asked for a sketch of his last incarnation. It looks like the character would eventually find a body/form and stick with it. You never know, it could be a big storyline leading up to this form that everyone will enjoy. (I dont read spoilers for the series, so dont scream at me if you know I'm wrong.) I personally dont think its that bad. Especially if it is in the cartoon at least at some point. Of course this is coming from someone who bought that awful Mr. Freeze spider body figure. (I had to. It was the only Batman villain figure I was missing.. :| ) Only time will tell I guess.

Y2Bogus 04-15-2004 04:50 PM

Well, maybe I'm too forgiving, or insanely optomistic, but I don't think it's THAT bad. I mean like I said, I've bought worse toys.

sensei#me 04-15-2004 06:02 PM

I'm with MikesPizzaShack on this one.
but seriusly that is disgusting and If that...... that THING does not change I will NOT waste my hard earned money on that mangled piece of plastic :flaming:

Well, see... my problem with the figure isn't that the design hasn't been in the cartoon. It's that IMHO, it looks like they stuck a bunch of random limbs from robot toys together.

I can perfectly understand that. While I dont think it's terrible per se, it certainly wouldn't be my (or anyones) first choice of design. I just hope that they get this message before these just rot on shelves. :ohwell:

Kid Icarus 04-15-2004 08:59 PM

And that is exactaly why I'm b***hing about it ;).

VaughnMichael 04-15-2004 09:18 PM

As an Old friend from tv once said why don't you put one of these in your stocking!

This is our interpretation of the Spider Robot. We may release just a basic Baxter next year... We will have over 20 variant characters coming out in 2005 and a bunch more still to go in 2004.

and one more thing your ll complaing about spending your money on these toys lmao you really have some nerve if you could even fathom the money these companies dish out to make these so called "crap" toys .
do any of you even know the work they put into a single action figure I mean really come one.
and like it says above 20 Variant Characters! my sweet lord and you people are complaining this line is only going to get better not worse just because they do one thing wrong at the moment you all do a back flip off the deep end. I mean seriously 20! and thats just for 2005! I mean my god we never got this kind of stuff with the old line there really trying damn it and I am honestly starting to get ticked off at the disrespect people show the toy industry, Cartoon industry, & many other like some one else said a hell of allot of you really sound like the comic book guy from the simpsons and it's just more goofy then anything if you really think about it.
"oh man this is the wors toy ever I can't believe I spent my money on this thing I will never give you anymore of my money"
um ok since when did playmates ever hold a gun to your head....seriously don't buy the toy I could really care less and I'm sick of hearing about it and your money.
-Vaughn Michael

Kid Icarus 04-15-2004 09:40 PM

Yes, I know they spent a lot of money on the figure.

But just because they spent a lot of money doesn't I'm going to praise a product I don't like.

I would think they'd rather KNOW what we don't want so they don't WASTE money in the future by making figures that most people are going thing look stupid. Or maybe that's just my logic. After all, Playmates is a company out to make money, and you do that by releasing things people won't pass over on shelves.

Hopefully they won't make a figure in the future that looks like spare parts from old toys glued together.

Also, this is really the first figure I've had serious problems with. The others were more of a "not my taste" kinda deal. Most people just arn't liking this Baxter, so I know it's not another "not my taste" deal.

I guess I don't really see what the big deal is any ways most of you dislike baxter and find him annoying so why care so much if it's a careacter you dislike (and no I don't me you personally). It just seems dumb to me to complain about and waste time rather then go on about something cool and positive rather than foccasing all of your energy on something so negative. but to each there own I'm quite frankly getting sick of talking about this toy allready.

Who is holding the gun that is forcing you to read everyone's comments in this thread?

Sure, I think that some people are a little bit overzealous in their reactions. That does not invalidate the point, though. The people that don't like the toy are consumers of the line. If they hate it enough to not buy it, then it makes the line's revenue look bad. This means Playmates might think the line is not worth the time and money. Okay, okay, so one figure won't kill the line. That is the precise reason why feedback of this nature is so damn great for the toy company. It prevents them from churning out more unwanted figures.

PS - Anyone that buys a figure that they don't like is dumb.

sensei#me 04-16-2004 10:28 AM

I am not trying to offend anyone in any way but the figure is not even recognizable as the baxter from this series.
and I don't intend to buy THIS PARTICULAR toy 'cause I dont like it.

but the good news is that 20 variants for other characters are coming out.
and I do intend to buy those.
but since I don't like the baxter fig I will custom my own.http://img52.photobucket.com/albums/...gume/stock.jpg[IMG]I am sure his head will fit in the utrom stomach and/or head.

MikesPizzaShack 04-17-2004 07:13 AM

now that baxter is nothing but a brain 1 eye and part spinat cord we know that this toys is toon inacurate...curse u playmates!!!!!!

FireFly 04-30-2004 06:50 AM

I know looks crapy :( but maybe if they paint it black and crome the body parts al buy it :D

Zachatello00 05-02-2004 11:47 PM

There's a lot that's good about this figure. you just need to look at the positives about it and quit complaining. Besides, playmates already said they will probably release a human baxter sometime in 2005

milweskee 05-03-2004 03:49 AM

a baxter brain in a tube would be awesome. i would love to see that.

no i would prob get a Baxter Brain in a Tube because it would look kewl.

JaffleMan 05-05-2004 05:39 AM

I don't really see why people here are cursing Playamates. Playmates is by far one of the most responsive toy companies out there today. They will always answer your e-mails, be willing to answer all of your questions no matter how stupid they may seem, they will go out of their way to fix any problems you have if you buy a faulty product and most of all they put out pictures of prototype's months in advance before the original design is completed unlike some other companies who hide their toys behind an iron curtain and try to prosecute or threaten to prosicute poeple who freely handle out images of such prototypes.

SO QUIT BAGGING PLAYMATES NOW WILL YA??

I have no problem with people saying they don't like the toy or if they suggest a few things can be done to improve it, after all that's the first thing people should do if they want the company to do somthing about it. But bitching about it here is no use, try writing to them in a polite and orderly fashion and if they get enough of a response, some changes may occurr. And I know some Playmates staff browse such forums as this to get their marketing info but to be honest if I was working for Playmates and came browsing through this thread, I'd be disgusted with the way people were bagging my company and I'd ignore the Baxter situation and let you all suffer.

I must admit I'm not too thrilled with this figure either but I don't blame Playmates. This prototype was put together very hastily to meet demands for Baxter to be finally incorporated into the basic line by US FANS. They tried their hardest and what do they get? Just complaints.

I still hope that there are some changes made to this figure before the time it hits shelves, but even if it makes it to shelves in the current state wev'e seen, I will still buy it in the hope that Playmates sees that the Baxter figure is selling so well that they'll incorporate other versions of him into the line.

MikesPizzaShack 05-05-2004 11:41 AM

ya if i was a playmayes staff and surfed this forum and saw ppl hateing what baxter looked like from the pics, to me that would mean they well they hate it and its not gonna sell. so i would then go back and tell ppl that customers who saw the pics hated it and wont get a good responce. just ignoring the comments like u said u would only means that then u truley wouldnt care about customer satisfaction. :D
