New Cartoon Interview with 4Kids Entertainment

This interview was so much better than that conducted by the idiot who interviewed Dan Berger a while ago. Everyone who asked questions was really respectful (many from our very own forum here!), and I thought everyone involved was very classy. :)

That's how an interview should be conducted. Just a simple question-and-answer session. Not some free-for-all that's supposed to resemble one, if you get my subtle - or not so subtle - hint.

"Come on, Michaelangelo! Think healthy for a change! You had peanut-butter and jelly on your pizza last night!"
"No way, bud! I had chocolate chips and caramel fudge!"

Leonardo and Michaelangelo, from "Return of the Shredder"

Karpo_007 09-18-2002 10:19 AM

That was a good interview. And i pretty much liked the answers. But the "no death" is still kind of bugging me...

azure turtle 09-18-2002 09:36 PM

Yes, it was a well done interview. ;) Don't worry too much, Karpo. They may still hint at it, but there's no way they're going to show any death scenes on a Saturday morning cartoon.

The Lone Turtle 09-19-2002 12:51 AM

Nice :) the thing that interests me, is that the turtles will take their bandannas off, unlike the old cartoon, should be sweet :)

Lanagirl 09-19-2002 04:10 AM

wow

:o Where can i read this interview? I'd like to see it too

Ninja Turtles Cartoon Fan 09-19-2002 05:31 AM

The interview being referred to is on the home page of this webpage under News/Updates. But here is the link in case you can't find it:

http://www.geocities.com/newtmnt/interview.html

It's a good interview, complete with commentary from some members of this very forum. :)

Bebop: "I wonder why the delivery guy stopped here?"
Rocksteady: "Maybe he was visiting his Mommy."
Bebop: "I wish I could visit my Mommy."
Rocksteady: "Why don'tcha?"
Bebop: "I tried. But every time she sees me, she runs away screamin'!"

From "Pizza by the Shred"

Mike 09-19-2002 01:25 PM

Yea, i really liked how it turned out. Maybe in the near future I can get another interview with someone else, maybe from Mirage or something.

Karpo_007 09-19-2002 02:07 PM

That would be nice.

Nturtle 09-19-2002 04:32 PM

hmmm... well most of these seem to be good signs, although I was hoping for t least some death, I like how Machias described the old cartoon Splinter as a furry old raisin!!!!

Deathknight 09-19-2002 08:04 PM

Personally, I don't think that using nearly identical plots from the comics is a really great idea. It's just a shortcut so the writers don't have to do any thinking which is pretty sad. Doing something like that reminds me of Blast from the Past. The only reason that episode was probably done was because they didn't make the season episode quota. I want some original ideas/plots, not remakes. Still, the new show could use a touch more of the old cartoon in it.

Well, I dont want Splinter just sitting around waiting to die...I want the same kind of Spinter from the archies...one to jump in and help whenever he can!

Deathknight 09-19-2002 08:50 PM

What was really funny about Splinter in the cartoons is he was constantly getting captured and it was the TMNT's ninja skills that saved him, yet Splinter could beat all 4 of them at once.

Machias Banshee 09-19-2002 09:11 PM

Well, they probably didnt want Splinter showing up the guys all the time...

I remember reading somewhere that there will be original episodes. I believe the majority will follow the comics, but some of the eps will be written just for the cartoon.

Lanagirl 09-20-2002 04:56 AM

blast from the past?

 Hello again guys.. It's so interesting to read your opinions but i've got a question as usual :P What are you talking about? A blast from the past? I remember such episode in cartoon. My sweet and dear Shredder   kidnapped some documents and then Splinter lost his memory and so on... But i don't think you meant this episode...
The interview is real good and i'm happy Oroku will be ok

Ninja Turtles Cartoon Fan 09-20-2002 05:34 AM

What was your question from "Blast from the Past?" Either it's too early in the morning, or I have finally flipped my shell.

"What's going on?"
"Not a lot of cleaning, that's for sure."

Donatello and Raphael, from "Shredderville"

Lanagirl 09-20-2002 06:25 AM

well...

:goofygri: Never mind.. i guess my english is so bad so nobody can understand what i am trying to say....
Well,as I( a nice girl but a goof) understood, Mirage comics will be the main plot of the cartoon. I like Archie. They are cute:-)
Guys,i'm trying to read mirage comics now
what bird are they talking about? desolation? What shred was doing in the turtles' sewer? It's so hard to understand them... and this story with Oroku Nagi:-) I wish they didn't show it to kids.....

Kali 09-20-2002 09:09 AM

Well, they aren't going to follow the comics word for word. They are going to use the basic plot points and lines from the comics, but have original ideas, and make it a bit more kid friendly. They've said there will be original characters and story ideas, so there's still a lot of surprises in store for us.

Lanagirl 09-20-2002 09:26 AM

:D Well,i hope they will be friendly... But nobody answered me about this bird...
Yeah, and tell me please how do you have those pictures that reprezent your nicknames? i wanna such picture too:-)

azure turtle 09-20-2002 01:19 PM

A bird?? I don't remember reading anything about a bird in the Mirage comics... Then again, I don't have very many of those.

The pictures under our names are our avatars. If you have a picture that you'd like to use as your avatar, e-mail Krang and let him know. He'll kindly host the picture for you.

Deathknight 09-20-2002 02:48 PM

I liked the action parts of blast from the past but most of the episode was just stupid flashbacks, as I said which was a way to reach the total season episode quota lol. Still though, I'm gonna miss Krang. I hope if they give him some kind of appearance, whether it being a flashback or a special episode. As a kid I loved the TMNT, now that I'm almost 17 I just love Krang, Shredder, Bebop and Rocksteady, they made the show worth seeing again.
"The next thing worse to being stuck up here, is being stuck up here with you!" Shredder -Tower of Power
"Is that you boss?" "No, it's the tooth fairy." "Hey let me talk to that crook! I left my little baby tusk under my pillow and didn't get nothing!" -The Big Rip Off
"Morons, I'm surrounded by morons!" Krang -The Dimension X story

Nturtle 09-20-2002 03:44 PM

I know what you mean Deathknight!! Now that I go back and watch those eps Bebop, Rocksteady, Shredder and Krang are hillarious!!!

Ninja Turtles Cartoon Fan 09-20-2002 04:18 PM

If I've said it once, I've said it a thousand times. When the creators of the original cartoon show tried to spice it up with a darker theme, they sent the cartoon straight down the tubes.

Oh, it worked for a little while. As long as Shredder and company were still around, the fans stayed. But as soon as Shredder and company were ditched, and they brought in Dregg, and the show developed a new sci-fi theme (which was terrible for the show), fans didn't stick around for long. Only the hardest of the hardcore viewers remained, and those were few and far between.

Shredder, Krang, Bebop, Rocksteady, Foot Soldiers, General Tragg, Neutrinos, April, Irma, Vernon, Burne Thompson, Rat King, Leatherhead, Bugman, Mondo Gecko, Baxter Stockman, the Punk Frogs, Big Louie, Pinky McFingers, Hokum Hare, Philo Sofo, Zach and Caitlan, Don Turtelli, and so many more . . . no other cartoon show in history HAS THE HISTORY that the Ninja Turtles did. And where do you think all these characters went (with the exception of April) when the writers brought in Dregg? They were flushed right down the sewer.

I know people are looking forward to the new cartoon; I'm one of them. But in my opinion, they'll never be able to recreate the spirit of the original cartoon. Never.

"That fool, Dregg, has given us another chance to destroy the Turtles and take over where we left off!" - Krang, from "The Power of Three"

Deathknight 09-20-2002 07:27 PM

Shredder didn't really have much of anything to do with season 8... he was only in like 4 of the episodes. Get Shredder! was pretty good, Wraith of the Rat King was..... ok, Cyber Turtles was pretty dumb, and Turtle Trek was average. But Bebop and Rocksteady in that season was just pointless. They didn't serve any purpose really.
"Will you two imbisilic buffoons stop pestering me! This is delicate work!" "He called us imbisilic buffoons." "Yeah, and you though he didn't like us." -New York's Shiniest

Lanagirl 09-21-2002 02:14 AM

that's right

 I do agree with the ninja turtles cartoon fan. The original cartoon will never be better than a new one. I'm sure.
How must i send a mail to Krang? What do i have to say? do i have to send him a picture i want to have as my avatar?
huggs guys:-)))))

Lanagirl 09-21-2002 02:16 AM

SORRY

  OH MY ENGLISH
I MEANT THAT A NEW CARTOON WON'T BE BETTER THAN THE ORIGINAL
OH GOD

azure turtle 09-21-2002 02:20 AM

LOL!! Don't worry, Lana. We all make mistakes. ;) Krang's e-mail address can be found at the bottom of the Main Page. Just send him your picture or a link to the picture you'd like to use. You can also contact Krang regarding your avatar by posting under this topic. I hope that helps.

Ninja Turtles Cartoon Fan 09-21-2002 10:30 AM

Yeah, the avatar I'm using right now is being hosted by Krang. In fact, a lot of the avatars you see are being hosted by Krang. I'm sure he'll have no problem hosting one for you. :)
By the way, this is my 100th post! Not that that's really much of an announcement, but I'm pretty proud of it! :tparty:

"I think he wants to get down and party!" - Michaelangelo, from "Turtles at the Earth's Core"

Karpo_007 09-21-2002 10:43 AM

In my case im sure i like the new show better. Yeah i like the original cartoon but after the first season, about 6=% of the episodes were some boring stuff with mad scientists. Besides the new show is going to have long story ark and not just single story epsiodes. Only that think makes it better than the original. If they would have keep the show like first season it would have been much better. I will never fully undetsrtand why they changed it to comedy... Turtles aren't meant to be that way...

Ninja Turtles Cartoon Fan 09-21-2002 10:47 AM

That IS something that I'm anxious to see. You are right - after the first season, not many of the episodes were connected together. It was just a bunch of stand-alones. There were a few here and there (Season 3's last three episodes come to mind, and so does Season 10's three-story-arc), but there weren't many.

"You know, I'll bet Donatello wasn't using genuine Dimension X parts on this babe." - Michaelangelo, from "Pizza by the Shred"

Karpo_007 09-21-2002 10:52 AM

Yeah. I think that the Big trilogy is the next best thing after season 1.

Deathknight 09-21-2002 04:48 PM

I liked the Eye of Sarnoth mini series in season 2. That was pretty cool, Season 2 was my favorite season though. especially the finaly (however you spell that). Still I think Krang should get a guest appearence on one of the new shows. But I wish they would use the original person who played Shredder's voice, he was always great. I was really disappointed when a new person did his voice in 1989-1990 where he had an alternative and in the later seasons where it was a totally different actor. The other people that had doing his voice just didn't make it.

Karpo_007 09-21-2002 05:52 PM

There is about 99% certainty that krang wont appear...

Deathknight 09-21-2002 10:53 PM

I can dream can't I? :P

Karpo_007 09-22-2002 12:05 AM

Yeah you can..

Lanagirl 09-22-2002 12:51 AM

it's me again

 Yeah,It's Lanagirl with her stupid questions again. 8)
I suppose you all know star wars(don't worry,i won't bother you with this movie, i realize that it is Shredder's site) I decided to watch star wars yesterday... I have never seen it so it was pretty interesting... So i met a very nice bad guy there-Darth Vader... :P :D May be it's only visual hallucinations  but it seemed to me that his helmet was like Shredder's.. and his cloack.... and his behavior... How do you think, could TMNT authors take his type as a basis for shredder's clothes

Karpo_007 09-22-2002 04:10 AM

Never heard that one before... Well the helmet is about same shape...

Nturtle 09-22-2002 06:54 AM

I've always seen Vader and Shredder to be preety similar, the death star has a vauge resembelence to the technodrome as well, I think the writers were thinking a little bit along those lines

Karpo_007 09-22-2002 08:52 AM

Hmmm... Yeah both are ball shaped battle stations... you could be right...

Deathknight 09-22-2002 04:50 PM

I never though of it that way. It could be that. But considering that the technodrome had 974 rooms or something like that I wonder how many rooms the death star had because it was the size of a small moon. Is the technodrome gonna be in the new series... they can't leave it out!!!! hehe
