Shredder and Krang one in the same

Okay I was watching the turtles fighting the Uthroms which look totally like Krang and I was thinking. Shredder is a evil Uthrom right? Well Krang is a Uthrom obviously and Krang too had a robot body. Now maybe this is just a stupid theory but I think the creators mixed the two villians. I think They made Shredder and Krang into one villian. You will probly all think Im retarded but if you think about it it makes sense

Jarrah White 05-20-2004 06:05 PM

You have a point, only with Krang modelled on Darth Maul.

I think this is painfully obvious...

oh... Sorry...
I meant... DUH!!

GK Punk 05-20-2004 07:04 PM

Well Krang wasn't an Utrom. Krang's looks were based on the Utroms, but he was just a bodiless brain.

Yeah, I'm a huge Bam Margera fan.

Demented Utrom 05-20-2004 09:20 PM

Shredder in the new cartoon is the combined characters of Shredder and Krang why didn't they use Krang to start off with.

Spitfire 05-20-2004 09:25 PM

Hes not in the orgnial comic thats why theres no Rocksteady or Bebop

Halfshell 05-21-2004 01:09 AM

I know this topic has been brung up many times, but I think they put Krang's name in the new series, just to make us older fans kinda happy that they somewhat put a reflect into it. Like April in a yellow suit reporting news. It was something for older fans can enjoy.

Spitfire 05-21-2004 07:06 AM

Yeah I was noticing alot of that mostly from the turtles in space dvds

 Yeah, there was an Utrom named Krang in one of the episodes. That was an awesome cameo for old cartoon fans.

I really can't see our current Shredder as a cross between Shredder and Krang, just because he's an evil Utrom. Utrom Shredder has really become has own character throughout the course of the series.

I think its really lame that they only mentioned "Krang" for
the very purpose of TMNT fans everywhere to be unable to call
the "Red Utrom"---"Krang".......

I say "F^< /<" whoever came up w/ that idea!

I'm gonna call the Red Utrom "Krang" from Now-on...
And there is nothing anyone anywhere can do about it....HA!

There you have it... The Shredder's true identity is Krang himself...

Bleh!! :D :D

"UTHROM?"

Sadako*sCranes 05-21-2004 07:37 PM

Personally, Utrom Shredder looks more like a Killer Tomato than an Utrom! But I still think he's cool! :D

OH MY GOD!

"ATTACK OF THE KILLER TOMATOES!"

I LOVED THAT CARTOON!

J Legault 05-21-2004 09:30 PM

Not another Red Utrom Shredder topic!

Ofcourse the idea of combining Krang & shredder together is a new twist.

Since Hamoto Yoshi in the old series became Splinter. This however is the oppisite of that idea. Very creative. Different Shredder Charater same villian. :shredder:

I never looked at it that way, but thats a good point.

Mobius One 05-23-2004 11:18 AM

They didn't combine them at all. In one of the letterpages, Peter Laird said he was getting sick of this topic, because Krang was not an Ultrom, he was only BASED on one for the show, because I don't think they wanted to put the Ultroms in the old show for some reason. But they are definitly NOT the same person/thing. And I'm not just saying this. I'm saying it because Peter Laird himself said it.

Yeah but Laird can't change opinion, whilst I know Shredder Utrom really is'nt a combination, I pefer to beleive he is.

J Legault 05-23-2004 02:41 PM

So what if the Shredder/Red Utrom have nothing in comman with the original toon Shredder & Krang.

But the idea is still a creative twist with the utroms.

Jarrah White 05-23-2004 03:52 PM

I have writen to Peter Laird about this whole Shredder Utrom, here's how it turned out.

Jarrah White: I haven't seen the second Season yet, but I understand Shredder reveals himself to be a Utrom in the new show. It's lead to a lot of controversy. Just a question, why did you make Shredder an alien brain in the new show?

Peter Laird: Sigh. I've already answered this one a number of times. We did not "make Shredder an alien brain". The Utroms are not "alien brains" -- they are aliens who have brains, but they are not brains per se. You -- like many fans of the old show -- confuse that show's bastardization of the Utrom concept (Krang, who -- sort of kind of if you squinted with one eye covered -- looked almost maybe like an Utrom, but who was actually -- literally -- a brain yanked from an alien warlord's body) with the actual Utroms, which I think (and I know I'm biased) are a superior concept.
Now, if you were to ask why we made the Shredder into an UTROM (not an "alien brain), there are several reasons, including the fact that the way we plotted it out, it worked to tie the actual origin of the Turtles into the a history related to the Shredder, which we thought was a cool idea. Plus, it allowed us to do things -- like the decapitation scene -- which we otherwise absolutely could NEVER have done on Saturday morning TV.

ZariusTwo 05-23-2004 06:20 PM

I agree with his "biased" opinion that the Utroms are superior to Krang, because the Utroms came first and formost before Krang.

Are we EVER going to be free of this debate? Is Pete ever going to be free of this debate? It's NOTHING now, the matter has been done to death, I'm sick of it now, I'm not the only one and it's not simply because of the numerous threads, it's because someone I have a lot of respect for is being harrased by either MIRAGE or Original cartoon fascists, who can't get over this.

J Legault 05-23-2004 09:12 PM

So Utroms are not considered to be Brain Aliens. Atleast I finally know that those guys are just small Tenacle aliens in Exoskeletons.

Jarrah White 05-23-2004 11:08 PM

I can't fully agree with Laird, there are others ways to do the decapitation scene on Saturday Morning television, I remember this French movie called The Invaders, a British Knight (Yes he was very much human) survived after having his head was chopped off in battle.

Spitfire 05-23-2004 11:26 PM

The man has a point he created the turtles dont argue his judgement

Barkworm 05-24-2004 01:22 AM

Poor Peter... Can't those people just leave him alone?

Jester 05-24-2004 10:44 AM

i certianly joked that shredder was krang...but that's just it a joke....we all know that shredder is not krang, but a utrom which is a bit of a diffrent thing...i just wanna know what krang looked like with his real body....

Jo Dawn 05-24-2004 11:59 AM

Heh... well, I have to agree with Mr Laird. I do grow weary of this argument. He's said what it is, it's been discussed... The new Shredder is NOT a combination of Krang and Shredder... Peter Laird said so. So that's it.

Krang was NOT an Utrom. New Shredder is NOT Krang and Shredder put together.

The end. :)

ZariusTwo 05-24-2004 12:14 PM

Indeed

(Waits for another Utrom e-mail to be sent to Pete ANY minute now... )

How cool would that be? I guess he was maybe a rock soldier? I dunno. Does anyone know for sure if he was? Or if not, what was he? If my memory serves, it's never been revealed.

Oh, and Laird said that the Decapitation scenes would be a no go if Saki was human, then he should have a shell of a time explaining Stockman. I guess they don't ever actually show it, but still.

If anything (and I'm not actually suggesting this) Baxter and Krang are one in the same.

Jester 05-25-2004 10:15 AM

both disembodied brains.....yeah i se it lol :D

Shreddette 05-25-2004 11:06 AM

If I ever emailed someone a question only to have them "sigh" right away I'd feel pretty bad about it. :ohwell:
However, now I know to change "Utrom" to "Brain" in my fanfic. Yar.

Can't agree with the very creator of the cartoon which entertains you today?
That's a little bit thankless, IMO. As for the french movie, I have never seen that, but it's not blordy likely that parents would want their oh so tender children watching a cartoon human being decapitated. It's not whether or not they survive, it's the act of decapitating a human that may disturb audiences. That, and I imagine they're trying to be original, not copy something that has already been done.

It is difficult enough to create something that will draw such a huge fanbase as TMNT has, let alone also stick to guidelines that the censors create for you if you want to be able to sell something to children as well as some adults. I think we were lucky enough to have the decapitation we did.[/my 2 cents]

Zachatello00 05-25-2004 01:25 PM

Amen, Shreddette! Nothing was cooler than watching Shredder's head fall to the ground and bounce to the rubble. My friend and I literally jumped out of our seats screaming! I had never read the comics before, so I didn't know this happened. It was kinda funny because my wife was laying down with her head on my chest, and when I jumped, she fell to the floor :tlol:

Yes it does seem strange that they can't show a human having his head sliced off yet they can show a human have his eye slashed out, his arm chopped off, and his spinal cord broken. Hmm........

Well techincally they never "showed" it, those kind of amputationas are considered "less gory" because you're still ALIVE

Jarrah White 05-26-2004 06:55 AM

But still it's an act of violence. And for the record, I've seen even greater acts on violence than people being decapitated on other Saturday Morning TV shows, take Godzilla for one of them. Gigantic mutations getting violently attacked and burned. The monster fights on that show are brutal, sometimes leathal. Not to mention the destruction of a number of buildings, is it not a possibility that there might have been people in the buildings destroyed by Godzilla?

If shows like Godzilla: The Series can get away with all that mass destruction, why can't the turtles get away with cutting a samurai's head off?

You don't see any blood on Godzilla, you just saw monsters being crushed, but their bodies are never shown.

Can you honestly count Mecha-Godzilla as a "Mutliated" form of Godzilla's mother when her scars were hidden by the machinery.

The sight of a human head being decapitated with no blood showing not only sounds stupid, but also if children would watch it, it would be greatly unsettling.

Actually, you do see their bodies, I've got every episode of Godzilla on tape. Remember that episode when Godzilla burned that giant fungas to a crisp? Or ripped off the sea monster's tenticals? Or ripped Mecha Godzilla's chest out? Drowned that flying manta ray? Incincerated the DNA monster? Blowing up the alien spaceships with his breath? Explosions kill! Plus all the buildings that fall, it's like September 11 but without the planes.

I'm not trying to argue I just don't see why it's okay to have all this violence and mayhem on Saturday Morning cartoons such as Godzilla but wrong for the turtles to cut someone's head off on a show that comes on at the same time as Godzilla.

The sight of HUMAN death is unsettling...you know...to us humans, Godzilla and all other creatures are fictional, and are not "real" creatures, the ALIEN Spaceships don't contain real people.

In most cartoons when Aliens die, they either

1. Vanish into thin air

2. Decompose and melt

At the time, the Shredder was thought to be human, if they had ended that episode without the cliffhanger, it would'nt leave a fitting impression on children, "solve your problems by cutting people's heads off", oh yeah good one

We're not even arguing here, I'm just pointing out WHY it was such a good idea to make Shredder a Utrom, it explains a lot of questions.

And again, your problems with the decision to not include the decaptiation all point right back to your constant problems with the Utrom Shredder concept
