Stamps on new figures feet.

Today i bought 4 figures being Shredder, a Footsoldier and the sports Don and Mike.

I opened shredder and after about 20 seconds of playing around with him i noticed he had a white number stamped on his foot being "B4068"., Subsequently io checked all the other figures today and they all had numbers too with all being 4 digits and with B preceding them. I then checked all my other figures and found no other figures had numbers stamped on their feet, not even my other footsoldiers or the other Shredder I had MOC packed away.

So just one question, are these numbers relating to the batch their produced in or are Playmates now individually numbering all their figures?

tmntman 06-18-2004 05:50 AM

Such stamps are actually common on the packaging of many figures. Usually it is a manufacturing date. My guess is that it indicates the figure was produced on March 8th of this year. (day 068 of the year 2004)

TheCloneRanger 06-18-2004 07:21 AM

I agree with that completely, but this is the first I've ever heard of a figure being date-stamped, too. Interesting.

TheRATKING 06-18-2004 11:32 AM

odd ill have to check my figs

mikey0 06-18-2004 12:25 PM

I never noticed that. I guess I will have to go back and check. :tanime:

TMNTGal 06-18-2004 03:52 PM

Cool find! Must be something they're doing with the newer releases. Seems they are date stamps, similar to those on SW figures. The numbers are also printed on the backer cards. If you are able to post a photo of the stamped foot, I'm sure other would like to see. :)

NinjaTurtle 06-18-2004 08:38 PM

All 4 of my Space Hoppin' Turtles have the stamps.

JaffleMan 06-18-2004 08:56 PM

It'll be awkward to take pics of the in package figures but I'll get a picture of the stamp on Shredder's foot snce he's the only one I opened. Got a digital cammerea yesterday too :) . How do you get pics to show on this forum anyway?

TMNTGal 06-18-2004 09:20 PM

Just the Foot is fine. Thanks! :)

Upload your photos to a webspace, then insert the URL inbetween this code.

Playmates recently moved the datestamp on their figures from the cardbacks to the figure's feet. The last series of The Simpsons is just now starting to show up, and they're the exact same way as these recent TMNT: date stamps on the bottom of one foot, instead of on the card.

JaffleMan 06-19-2004 03:59 AM

Took over 20 photos and could not get one picture to focus on the foot, it keeps focussing on the wall behind where I'm taking the picture, anyone got any ideas to resolve this problem? The pictures are that blurry you can't make out a single digit.

Will have another attempt tomorrow when the batterie's recharge.

And the stamps are a lot bigger than the one on NinjaTurtle's spacehopping turtle's foot, at least 3 times bigger and also the stamp is white which is probably the reason I can't get it to focus. :(

EDIT: Just checked the small imprint on the base of Shredder's packaging and the number is B4068 too, all the other figures numbers match their card numbers too so this puts that mistery to rest entirely.

Got a picture but no hosting. If anyone wants I can send the picture to them via e-mail.

NinjaTurtle 06-20-2004 10:20 AM

I will host the pic

KROW 06-20-2004 07:30 PM

I think the "B" stands for "Baxter"!

Thanks for that, e-mail sent.

EDIT: Your e-mail address does not work, is it meant to be iceninja instead of iceiceninja?

NinjaTurtle 06-21-2004 08:29 AM

Oh sorry, it's

He just noticed something on his figures and was wondering about it. That's all.

What I mean is, why is everybody obsessed with the lettering on the feet of the figs? It's just a serial number. Yes, it's an odd discovery but why all the links to the pics?

TheRATKING 06-22-2004 06:55 PM

well i havent seen them on my figs and like to see them and for others that want to see it

TMNTGal 06-22-2004 07:03 PM

I found this information both interesting and useful. It helps variation collectors know what's out there.

KROW 06-22-2004 07:21 PM

What? I'm sorry but I don't understand a word of this. People want the serial numbers, they like them? Huh? What? :-? :-? :-? :-? :-?

JaffleMan 06-22-2004 07:28 PM

As a line progress's changes to figures are always made, this helps determine the figures vintage and it's of interest to see the changes and why they were made.. A lot of people like to collect all the different variations as this process occurs and some variations are produced for such relaticvely a short time that they are much sought after. Myself I only collect variations to the figures themselves (even though I keep them MOC) whilst more keen collector's collect packaging variations. I'm still tossing up between whether or nor I should collect this variation too but since I'm relatively broke looks like it's a no.

KROW 06-22-2004 08:31 PM

Well, thanks for the explanation but I stand by my opinion that it's all picky and fickle and anal.

I'm sorry but that's what I think.

JaffleMan 06-22-2004 09:03 PM

Hey, what is this? Bump up your post count day or somthing? Your posting repetitively all over the board.

Try to settle this over pm's please. Just because he has posted a lot doesn't mean that he is doing just to up his post count, I have posted a lot in the past 24 hours to put not to up my post, just because I have a renewed interest in TMNT. And maybe KROW is just posting to up his count, but if he is that is his problem and if the mods don't like it I am sure they will do domething about it. It's just there have been a ton of arguments lately and their is no need to start another one.

KROW 06-22-2004 09:28 PM

RATKING and cbq101 and I have talked about my posting. I am not doing it to up my post count. I want to voice my opinion just like anyone else. I take this board as a cyber-converstion, as if people were in a room talking face to face. That's what the premise is to message boards. That's all I'm doing.

When I repeat myself it's to make you laugh and start a conversation. Like I said to RATKING about the old boards that nobody responded to in months, I do it so that if people see a recent post, they'll want to talk about the subject again. And that's exactly what's happening.

And I said before that I'll stop. And I think I have. Now please leave me alone about it.

I wasn't attacking you or anything KROW, I just didn't want another argument started. I never accused you of posting just to up your count.

Triceraton 06-22-2004 09:45 PM

This is important in case of any running changes that can't be seen easily. A good example of this is in the Lord of the Rings line, there is a Frodo with a light up sword. The initial run lit up green, but was quickly fixed to the correct blue color. But the only way to tell which one you have without opening it is to look at the date stamp.

And also, date stamps rarely get put directly on figures, it's usually just on the packaging. So this recent change by Playmates is somewhat curious, if nothing else.

KROW 06-22-2004 09:53 PM

To Aaron,

My comment was not directed at you, my friend. We're square. Cool? :)

Lol, yeah. Anyway, we just don't really need any more arguments between anyone. Tha't why the general discussion sections were locked.

JaffleMan 06-22-2004 10:03 PM

I'd like to apoligise to Krow for accusing him of bumping up his post count. Won't happen again.

KROW 06-22-2004 10:09 PM

No problem, dudes. We're cool. Water under the bridge.

LAXtitan99 06-23-2004 04:28 PM

Dont think anyone has mentioned it so...

The same numbering system also appears on the new Ninja Action Turtles though not on the foot it is really small on the tail of the turtle when you hold it upside down.
