Pretty damn cool stuff. :) Weird that it's not out in the US, yet. It's been out here in Canada for some time now.

TheRATKING 06-22-2004 03:00 PM

ugh what a rip about how much do those go for in canada

Bry 06-22-2004 03:04 PM

They're about as much as the figures... Seven bucks and change, or so, before taxes.

BigApple3AM 06-22-2004 03:33 PM

Wow that's so old school! It reminds me of when they used to sell ooze with the mini baby turtle/rat/half mutated turtle! I hope they release it over here in the good ol' U.S. of A.

I wonder why Dan Berger doens't have any of it on the site/in his collection? Is it made by playmates?

JaffleMan 06-22-2004 06:14 PM

These sell for a maximum of $8AU here in Aus which unlike you dudes in Canada, it's about half the price of a normal figure. I can get them for around $6AU when stores have sales.

The current exchange rate is $1AUD= 0.686870USD

So they're between $4 to $5.50 USD a can.

Here's the stock and assortment numbers for anyone who wants them:

Asst: #54250
Stock#: 54252

Also, just wondering if you Canadian's have noticed that the ooze in these cans is a lot more slimey than the stuff out of the figure packs.

I don't know if you can notice in my pics but the ooze from the mini figs is a lot lighter than the ooze from the larger figures.

TMNTGal 06-23-2004 07:55 PM

Would anyone be interested in helping me obtain these Ooze cans? I'd prefer to find someone a little closer to the US, like in Canada. Shipping would also be more economical this way. I have a bunch of Turtle stuff to trade if anyone is interested.

Skabbz 06-23-2004 10:11 PM

i'd also be interested in the ooze figs..

TheCloneRanger 06-24-2004 09:41 AM

Dude...Bry...your hand looks just like mine. That's weird.

And even weirder still that I reply to this thread just to say that.

cqb101 06-24-2004 09:50 AM

Those baby turtles are awesome! I must have them. :o

Well, considering turtles under 4 inches in size are illegal to have in NY, I need one of those.

Spitfire 06-24-2004 09:07 PM

Those look pretty cool I might get some

Bry 06-25-2004 08:00 AM

No problem on my end, Tokka. Hey look, my name and hand on the front page of Mikey's TMNT! I'm, like, Ninja Turtle Internet Famous now! (Take that, hand twin!) :goofygri:

The ooze is definitely made by Playmates, by the way. Little logo on the canister and everything. Weird that a Playmates rep hasn't even heard of the stuff, and weirder yet that they're not selling it in the US, of all places.

I'd always thought the ooze was one of the coolest bits of merchandising from the old toy line... I mean, the figures and vehicles are cool, but an actual can of the ooze that mutated the TMNT? What a great idea! I remember playing with the stuff on the kitchen floor when I was a tot. My mum made me play with it on a cooking sheet, so I wouldn't make a mess. Covering Mikey in ooze and having him mutate back into a little off-white glow in the dark turtle? Good times, my friends. :)

So naturally, when I saw a can of the stuff, my head was filled with tingly nostalgia goodness and I had to have it.

Initially, I figured there would just be one of the standard mini-figures inside, but the baby turtles were a pleasant surprise. I'm sorely tempted to go grab the Donny and Mikey canisters, just to complete the four. I only picked up the Raph canister because I had managed to drop the Leo ooze at school and ruin it (all full of hair and little rocks from the lecture theatre carpet, ecch), but now I've only got two of the baby TMNT and that's just not right at all, now is it?

Anyway, if you've got the means to pick some of this stuff up, I highly recommend it. It's surprisingly fun to just goosh the stuff between your fingers.

audman 06-25-2004 09:31 AM

what retail stores up there carry the ooze commonly. I would go to canada but i would need to know what stores carrry it before I do. Thanks a million

Bry 06-25-2004 01:12 PM

Hey, all! Just so you know, I emailed Dan Berger with the info from this thread and six pictures for the official site.

They're up now, so go check it out if y'like. :tthumbsu:

Actually I believe that is a national law...strange cuz here in florida you see vendors selling those quarter size ones on every corner...the only way you can officially get away with it is to say you are selling them for "educational purposes"...then its ok...but not as pets..thats a no no...But i did pick 2 of em up back in college and there still with me all growed up, one about 9" the other 7"..names are Curly and Raul.. :P

JaffleMan 06-26-2004 04:48 AM

Just a quick question.

Is it CONFIRMED that you guys (and gals :P) won't be getting these in the US?

Cause if there isn't any luck on the Canadian front I can help out. Might wait until the next sale and get a few sets (depending on interest) and ship them to the one US address to save on postage and that person could ship them to everyone else.

Poona 06-26-2004 05:02 AM

That's very wierd that these aren't in the US. I thought they definitely would be considering it's home to the Turtles and all, and they're done by Playmates. You can find them basically everywhere in Australia. I haven't actually purchased one yet, but I think I remember it even mentioning to watch the FOX BOX on it (just like the figures packaging does), but that being not applicable to those in Australia since it isn't available in Australia.

JaffleMan 06-26-2004 05:20 AM

I'm guessing they aren't getting them due to legal reasons or somthing. :-?

KROW 06-26-2004 09:28 AM

Don't like 'em, don't want 'em, no thank you.

IMO, these are useless. Just another way for kids to get messy. You ever try to get that crap of the carpet? The ooze gets all hairy and disgusting. And those mini-turtles look like something you'd get at those 25-cent toy vending machines at the supermarket.

A big container of slimy goop and a small plastic turtle with a bandana painted on it so as to look like a TMNT for $7 or more? Stupid.

That's $7 Australian, so about $4 or so American.

Useless? When do toys have any use?

And you sound more like a parent, more than a fan.

KROW 06-26-2004 11:58 AM

Okay, first thing: $4 American is STILL too much.
Second: I am both a parent AND a fan.
Third: When the ooze stuff came out in the 80s, I didn't get it because I thought it was stupid.
Fourth: If you think ALL toys are useless, don't bother commenting on the Toys Forum.

Okay. So, if you think the Ooze Containers are stupid, why are you bothering to comment in this thread?

Spitfire 06-26-2004 01:56 PM

If their only 4 bucks over here Id get atleast one even if the turtle looks lame Ive always wanted some mutating goop. Also I dont get why their not in the US since the old stuff was theres no reason for this new stuff not to be. But if someone is willing to buy it and send me some *with proper payment of coruse* I would do that to get some. I want one with Don in it :D

If we (in the US) do end up getting confirmation that we won't be seeing these on the shelves, and you're willing, I would like to organize this with you. If it matters, I have over 150 positive eBay feedbacks (no negative), and threads around different forums with positive feedback.

If we do get that news, maybe we can set up an official thread where people can request the Ooze, and we can go from there?

KROW 06-26-2004 11:44 PM

Well, Bry Katz, to answer your question, I am commenting on this thread to give the other side of the coin. Perhaps people would like to know the bad part of buying merchandise. Just because it's TMNT doesn't mean you should automatically get it. Some toys in ALL forms of media are crap.

I'm only stating the fact: Let the buyer beware.

JaffleMan 06-27-2004 03:31 AM

O.K, this is going to be very very bad news for the ultra completists out there so if you don't want to hear it, don't scroll down.

FOUND A VARIATION IN THE OOZE CONTAINERS! :dead:

I was going around today to all the shops and I noticed Myers were now stocking these. Instantly I noticed the cans were a lot darker shade of green the the previous sets. Went into k-Mart later and they had a new box of these out, all the dark green cans, they also had some light green cans among the racks from old stock so It was very easy to compare the clours against eachother. So now for those who must have everything, there is both a light and dark green variation of the ooze itself.

It's a small canister of green slime, with a little Baby Turtle figure inside. I don't think anyone needs 'warning' about the stuff. It's pretty straightforward, dude.

And really, someone coming into a toy forum and saying that all toys are essentially 'useless' is just "the other side of the coin" as well, so I don't see your point. If I were having a pleasant discussion with some friends of mine, and someone else walked up and joined in just so he could disagree with us, it'd strike me as pretty rude. Not saying you don't have the right to join in, of course, but I'm just curious what the point was...

If you think the Ooze is stupid? Fine, don't buy any! But hey, I really dig the stuff, and I'll probably buy some more. I hope that doesn't mean you'll feel that you have to 'convince me otherwise' or anything, hmm?

KROW 06-27-2004 12:28 PM

Well, that's fine. I'm not saying anything bad. Especially not to anyone who wants to buy this ooze stuff. I'm just saying it's not all it's cracked up to be. Go ahead and buy it if you like it. Nothing wrong with that.

I wasn't saying there was a health warning on the ooze or anything. I was just saying that it may not be a great purchase. That's all.

So if you buy it, have fun and I hope you enjoy. I didn't chime in just to bash the product. Only to say it's not that wonderful a product, in my opinion.

No need to get P.Oed.
:)

TMNTGal 06-27-2004 04:52 PM

Jaffleman, in your opinion, which color do you like best? Dark or Light Ooze? That's interesting to know, thanks for posting that info. I'm also still interested in obtaining the Ooze from you. I probably won't find anyone else who's willing to get the cans for ppl in the US. I'm also interested in the cardboard display If you can get it. If you want to try to set this up please PM me. :)

JaffleMan 06-27-2004 07:24 PM

As for which colour I prefer, the lighter colour ooze is better, I think it has a more slimey cinsistency, the dark colour ones are the same colour (or close enough to it) as the cans that come with the larger mutations figures so I think they have the same consistency as them too which is a lot thicker.

I think a few people were interested in these so as suggested I'll start a thread later to see who's interested. I'll wait until the next store sale and then get maybe between 3 and 6 sets and also how ever many store displays they will alow me to take (they usually are pretty happy for me to take them but you get the occasional know all tight arse) then I'll weigh them up and get postage quotes from the post office. And before anyone asks in case there are more than 6 people wanting sets 6 sets is the maximum I'm getting under any circumstance, don't want to buy 10 sets and then have 4 people pullout leaving me stuck with 4 of them.

Well so far I think there are two interested parties, TMNTGal and the Cloneranger.
