Which Season of the Cartoon was the Best?
Well, guys, what do you think? I know some of you out there have very specific opinions on this.

i love all of the TMNT cartoon episodes
i can't pick |
hmmm
my favorite was the first season of the 'red sky' season when they went all cool and darker...... which year was that??
the 'new mutation' seasons (the final two) were pretty cool too..... |

The last three years of the show, 1994-1996, were "Red Sky" episodes. "The Technodrome may be gone, but Shredder and Krang are still loose!" - Leonardo, from "Get Shredder!" |
ok
oh ok, thanks.

Even though I love all the seasons, for me it's a tie between the 1989 season and the 1990 season. This was when the show really kicked it into high gear, and when its popularity soared.
Some make the argument that CBS ruined the show. I don't think so; I think they just tinkered with it and made it better. They expanded the show. A show that was able to pump out 193 episodes must have been doing something right. "Nice night for a robbery, huh, Krang?" - Michaelangelo, from "Invasion of the Krangezoids" |
seasons
the first one and the red sky ones before the shredder left. the stories were great when they redid it, but when they added carter & dregg, lost shredder & crew, and they all started mutating it got stupid.
|
ahem
actually, i thought the mutating added a certain intrigue and depth to the storyline. and they could only fight shredder for so long, you know.....

Ratings began to decline in 1993. The Turtles were no longer drawing the viewers like they used to. So the writers, in an effort to pump some energy into the declining franchise, decided to shake things up a bit.
We'll get rid of the humor. We'll make it darker and edgier. We'll make the Turtles darker, and we'll get rid of all those *annoying* side characters over the years. It worked at first. Ratings in 1994 jumped considerably from those in 1993. But then a deathwish floated over the series, so silent and sneaky that no one saw it coming. Shredder and Company got dumped. Axed. Tossed. A new bad guy was brought in - Dregg. Bebop and Rocksteady? Forget about'em. They were losers, anyway. Let's introduce some more serious bad guys. Techno-what? No, no. We're going with the Dreggnaut. We need a human in the show. April's kind of alone now that Irma and Vernon and Burne Thompson quit the show, disgruntled over their salary pay. We'll introduce Carter, some brainy college kid who apparently has nothing better to do with his time than spend it with four overgrown Turtles and one giant rat. We need the Turtles to go through trials. Some tribulations. They need to suffer. We're talking soap opera stuff here. They were always so happy and hip before, and that was boring. How about we make'em freaks? How about we make their mutations unstable? Wouldn't it be cool if they mutated into these, like, big lumbering goons with the strength of 10 Turtles and the intelligence of 10 paper clips? Oooh, and we have to add some tension here, too. Let's make them clumsy. That will add suspense! Doesn't really sound like the Ninja Turtles, does it? What do you think of when someone mentions the Ninja Turtles? Do you think of Dregg and Carter and those wacky mutations? Or do you think of Shredder and pizza and that cool theme song? It's no wonder the fans sent Dregg and his cronies packing after only two seasons. "Get us off this retched planet at once!" - Dregg, from "Doomquest" |

1. They were young when the series premiered, so they regarded it as a kids show, not a comic item, and thus outgrew it by late elementary school age and thus never heard of Dregg 2. They weren't true fans. Like a lot of conformists do, in fact they've only seen about a few episodes here and there and thought it stayed like that a long time. I used to fit into the first reason. To be honest, I never heard of Dregg until only about a month or so ago...give or take a month  I also used to think the episode where the portal was blown up for good was the series finale. And, I'm not lying, I swear I never saw the "Red Sky" intro before in my life until I downloaded it about 3 weeks ago. Oh yeah, back to the poll. It was a close call between seasons 2 and 3, but the one with more episodes had to win, so I voted season 3. Like someone said, it was at the peak of its popularity. |
Ah here's a more intresting poll!!! But its deffinitly '87 for this turtle!! Evrything was perfectly balanced between fight scenes and goofiness that season, it was great!!!
|
Ditto what Nturtle said.
During the first season they were funny *and* intense. |
P.S. The choice of April's wardrobe in season 8 was obviously left to a color-blind stroke victim.
|
pst you forget season 10 on the poll... anyway I liked season 2 best... the Eye of Sarnoth mini-series, great last ep... the only thing I didn't like about it was that stupid ep New York's Shiniest.
|
I thought it was "Zarnov"...that's what it says on the official site.

Oh, well. I don't think you're going to get too many votes for Season 10 anyhow. Although, personally, I liked it better than Season 9. "Why don't you morons watch where you're flying?" - Shredder, from "Rhino-Man" |

I'm sure it was Sarnoth... that's how it's spelled in the dutch subs and the spell names the same as the American's do... besides, the official sites episode guide is full of errors and a flawy order.

I don't even know why we're having this argument; it's a gibberish word. |
Um..."official" stuff can have many errors...just look at the official tmnt movie 1 press kit, it's FULL of errors ( http://undermanhattan.com/in-house/a...it/default.asp )
And i like sarnoth better than zarnov so i'll call it like that :P Argh...i can't pick, all the seasons were great. |
