Does anyone know what this is?
I found this TMNT figure on an eBay auction. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...e=STRK:MEWA:IT I have never seen a figure like this before, it seems almost metallic, and the packaging is quite different as well. I was intrigued enough to buy it to study it from a closer perspective.
Not only did the seller have Leo in this unusual figure, but they also had Raph, Don, and Mikey, even Splinter and Shredder. The figure is pretty cool, but it puzzles me as to what they actually are, and why there isn't anything about them. Unless it's a prototype, or a bootleg... |
They are made in china, and purchased on travels in europe and overseas. I think they are the overseas verions of the toys. Do you have pictures of the others to add to my pic collection. :ohwell:

Hmm it could be fake figurine *laughs*

No, I don't any pictures of the others. I'm sorry. :( |
Huh, lets see... five turtles on the package, no Playmates logo on the card, the card's not cropped, the card doesn't have a hook....
Fake. It's a pretty cool looking one though. |

they could have atleast not put to mikeys oh the card :P

Obviously a fake, lets look at the mistakes.
5 TMNT on the back (2 mikes) Card isn't cut on the back, just the whole rectable No peg-hole Picture is of Donatello, when the figure is Leonardo. Last time I checked, Leo didn't come with nunchuks, or the foot soldier's sword, and had 2 of his swords, not green though. Arms and legs are all lankey-like (sweet word) No playmates logo Some little comic book at the back of the package Even if it was from China, noone makes a figure THAT badly :-P. Would be a cool thing to have though. |
It is a bootleg. The bootleg sellers have these at my local market and they sell at about $5Au each (about $3-$4US each). They also have these new figures with all 4 turtles with wings and really weird catapults that fire shells and stuff. Iv'e even seen a tokka based figure with removable shell coloured fluoro pink. Also recent bootlegs have really improved card art and quality much thicker the playmates stuff. Also the new figures look to be good quality. the ones like the one you have though I know for fact are crap. Iv'e seen a couple broken shredders popping up at opp shops and the plastic seems brittle.

Otherwise known as knockoffs.

I know there were tons of bootlegs back in the vintage line, from pretty much every industrialzed country...some look cool, others not so cool..would make for an interesting collection though...

Here's a great Bootleg toy site(the TMNT page):http://www.bootlegactionfigures.com/tmntindex.htm,I'm sure many have seen it. |
Craziness... I've never seen anything like that. Even if it is a bootleg, I agree that it looks cool.
|
*laughs* Well, this is indeed a rather messed up toy. I just received it in the mail today.
The figure itself is all right, and actually looks cool. The packaging, however, is worse for wear, and as determined also incorrect. The package has been torn open at the bottom, but nothing was removed or damaged. We already know there's two heads of Mike at the top of the card, and it's a figure of Leo, but shows Don on the front. On back, though, it shows Raph. Seems like these people couldn't make up their minds on who it should be. Now that I've had this much time to think on it before it even came, I really don't want it anymore. Anyone here would like to have it? |
i'll take it
|
Have you guys seen the other ones?! Hahaha! :
Shredder Splinter Raphael Michelangelo Donatello Shredder and Splinter look so funny! |
