Tmnt Cartoon in Best 100 Cartoons Ever programme.
If you live in UK, you might of seen a top 100 Cartoons programme on Channel 4 last night, where they count down from 100 showing clips from them and usually some struggling or minor celebrity or someone involved with the show talks about it.
The Turtles Cartoon did better than i expected, they were 27th! They just showed you the whole intro of the original cartoon, and the contribution was rubbish! What's more interesting is they were higher placed than other 80s cartoons that were hugely popular like Transformers, He-man, Thundercats & Inspector Gadget. I think it may of been the highest placed 80s cartoon, except from the Simpsons, which took the obvious no. 1 spot. The Top 20 were mostly recent ones. I was just happy that the Turtles were higher placed than Pokemon which was down in the 40s. However, i thought in a cartoon poll, was it nesscessary for animated feature films and 3-d animated films to be featured in it, as well as plasticine animation? I thought it might only be TV cartoons. The Top 20 were dominated with them , with the likes of "Finding Nemo", "Toy Story", "The Incredibles", "Shrek", "The Lion King". So 1st Place was "The Simpsons" 2nd Place "Tom & Jerry" 3rd Place "South Park" "Transformers" & " He-man" were both in the 30s, And Thundercats was at 54. |
wow, that is very good to hear.

That list was'nt even credible, Futurama was MILES below the top ten, which is ridiculous.
|
TMNT should have been higher on that list. Top 15 at least. Also, I don't think South Park will ever reach the popularity the Ninja Turtles have.
|
If if were up to me, I would place TMNT in the top ten.

YEah South Park sucks...TMNT should have been a lot higher.
|
These things always annoy me because it's just a bunch of Z-list Nobody celebrities who slag off or make silly comments about stuff they probably haven't even seen properly, or at least not seen for years. And I have to wonder if the lists are rigged because the Simpsons ALWAYS wins. I appreciate that it's a very popular show (though I've never liked it) but I find it a bit unbelieveable that it always comes out above all the others every single time.
It was nice that TMNT got a place, though. Other 80s cartoons that got a place on the list included He-Man (but no She-Ra, which annoyed me because I like her show better), Dungeons & Dragons and Thundercats. |
Well, I can honestly see the Simpsons at the top of ever list. Not that I thought the show has been any good for a long time but as far as cartoons or television shows in general go it has had a truely remarkable run.

Beavis and Butthead got beaten by south park? how insulting. It was clearly a much better show and would've lasted a lot longer if people weren't constantly trying to sue Mike Judge and the fact that he obviously got paid more for King of the Hill (why does anyone even like that show, it's so stupid.) Most lists like that are always way off. The TMNT weren't even seen in TV guide's 50 greatest cartoon characters of all time, yet incredibly stupid cartoons like Powerpuff Girls made the list for some reason. Got a link for the list though?
|
PowerPuff Girls was actually VERY good in it's first four seasons, then Mcraken left after the movie, and the series went to hell.
|
I've never been able to like the Powerpuff Girls either. I hate most modern cartoons/anime.

This list lacks the following shows IMHO (please don't laugh at my taste... to long): * Biker Mice from Mars - well, nothing to mention, nothing to describe * Rocko's Modern Life - I used to love it * The Tick (animated version) - well, a good pastiche but suitable mainly for comic book readers. And very strange that once very pupular (and not so very long ago!) shows like Johnny Bravo, Dexter's Laboratory, 2 Stupid Dogs or Cow&Chicken/I am Weasel didn't reach the Top 100. Not to mention Courage the Cowardly Dog, which I liked the most out of CN productions. Best wishes, Robweiller |
