The Unexplained in TMNT
there are so many things that are unexplained in the turtle universe of the old cartoon. Like for instance how is it the turtles can live in the sewer all the time and not be bothered by the smell, or how can they even not get sick by living the sewers ( or April for that matter, she should have a nasty case of something by now)
How come April is the only reporter that ever reports anything worth while in the city of Newyork. And how come Vernon seemed somewhat of an assistant and less hostile towards April in the first season and then is her full blown rival in the rest of season. ( My personel theory is that April and Vernon had secret crush on each other and covered it up with being hostile towrads one another) Why where there so many inconsistenceies with Splinters abilties. He could in the space of an episode go from being weak and helpless to being strong and powerful and beat the crap out of any one. He was weak and forever needing saving most of the time and then when it suited him ( presumably) he was very independent and capable. What the hell is wrong with Irma. I don't think I need to explain my self . ( Personally I think that she was a lesibian and thats why she could never find mister right). Heaven knows she tryed everything in and outside of her speicious and the oppisite sex is probably the only route she had not tried. Are the turtles more human than turtle? the turtles can walk up right and talk and eat people food, they have teeth and finger and thums and toes and seem to enjoy more things that are human than turtle. They seem to be able to sweat, so maybe they are not even cold blooded. They don't seem to like getting wet particualy much and they rather eat pizza than a more turtle diet. Compared to the frog mutants down in Florida who seem to enjoy hanging out in the swamp and eating a fly or to, the turtles are very different from there turtle roots they originated from. Wonder why? Where the heck do the turtles and Splinter get all the furniture and moderen conviences that they have in there home? Like the beds and the funiture and the TV's and ovens and cupboards and refridgerator, if they don't have money? What does Donatello the turtle wonder genius build all this stuff. And more importantly where do they get the electricity to power all this stuff, and the fresh water that they drink and bathe in and the cable. I don't think that they pay for it, so how are they getting all these services. And when the turtles do have money how the hell do they get it! they don't have jobs and I doubt that Splinter lets them steal, and i don't think they just find lying around. ( I have entertained the thought that Donatello prints the TMNT's own money, but I dounbt Splinter would let that slide eighther) |
 some entertaining thoughts haha:lol:
i can't stand the old show but I'll watch it...it's great to fall asleep to. one of the reasons I liek the new show ten time more cause it makes more sense. I dont believe the guys are ectothermal, or at least completely. they expend too much energy to be cold blooded. I know that much. So I'd say they're maybe half way endothermal, warm blooded but susceptible to freezing temps. Vernon and Irma shoulda got it on...I mean they're both dorks. hehe |

Donnie: Hey guys, check out my new invention! It prints out money just like the kind they have on the surface! Now we can buy anything we want! Raph: Wow Donatello, I'm really impressed! You finally made a worthwhile invention! Mikey: I dunno dudes. Isn't printing your own money like wrong? *Don and Raph exchange looks* Raph: Well maybe, Michaelanglo, but just think - we could have anchovy and ice cream pizza for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Every day. Mikey: Cowabunga dudes! Count me in! *Leo and Splinter enter* Leo: Hey fellows, where'd you find all that money? Don: Um, there was a bank robbery that we thwarted. As a reward, the bank gave us this cash! Splinter: Excellent work my sons! That's my two cents on some of the old toon mysteries. Don't mind me - I think I had a bit too much caffeine this a.m. :P |
All the stuff you said is just common sense, it's a cartoon and not every minor thing will be explained. It's also not important how they got their home furnished and appliances. What is important and should have been explained are both the Origins of Krang and the Technodrome. That would've been a cool flashback story, just like "Secret Origins" in our new show.

And yeah - I have always wondered how they manage to finance tons of pizza they consume + electronic goodies they own. One of my theories is that they actually offer "protection" to the owners of pizza restaurants, in exchange for everyday delivery of fresh commodity and for a humble amount of cash. |

Sewers are divided in sections. Some of the sewers are for moving waste around. These sections tend to smell bad and are quite unsanitary. Other parts of the sewers are for moving clean purified water around as well as running city cables around. These parts are pretty clean and don't have any odour. I'm sure that the TMNT live in this section. They have access to clean water and electricity. As for money, I'm going to assume that when Hamato Yoshi (Splinter) moved to America, he had little money. He probably mannaged to get a job but lived in the sewer to avoid rent costs so he can save his money for something grand (perhaps to buy a house or open his own dojo). He probably mannaged to save up several thousands of dollars... possibly enough to buy a house or buy property to open a dojo. His plans were foiled when he changed into a humanoid rat. Splinter and the TMNT probably carefuly ration out the money to survive on for years. |

Irma's not a lesbian. She has bad luck with getting a man simply because the common man doesn't find her attractive, and the men she does manage to go out with tend to put her off. Quite frankly, I'm probably the only one on Earth who thinks she's cute, except for her voice. |

very informative and helpful, I didn't know that and it does explain why the living conditions that the turtles live in are so...er, unlittered with human feces :dead: . That was somthing that bugged me all the time while i was watching the show. Although I wonder how they manage to reroute the floods of natural water that come through their home. And even if they do live in the cleaner part of the sewer they don't seem to mind to walk around in the filthier part on the sewer amd don't seem bothered by it, then they go and tract it around their living quators right after they where just swiming around in sewer water. I'm surprised Splinter doesn't flip out. Or April for that matter doesn't freak when they go into her home. Quote:
And some how I don't think yoshi had any money saved up, I think he litterly left Japan with the clothes on his back. Which makes me wonder was Yoshi/Splinter in the U.S illgally :o It might explain why didn't/couldn't get a job and he didn't just find some housing. Maybe to escape immagration he hid out in the sewers so he wouldn't get deported. You never know that could have been his reasoning and it makes better sence than him being just so dead ass poor that he couldn't find an abandoned building to live in or something. Unless Yoshi/Splinter is one of the extreme buddist people who prefere poverity and humilty in harsh conditions than living it easily. Hmm food for thought. |

See, I think they have an adopted human sister who does not like the public life her brothers lead....kinda like the other Osborne sister. She spends all day at work, earning money to keep her family in food and air freshener other essentials...and at night, while they go out, she's asleep. That's why you never see her.
She is following the bushido training for samuri girls and women...take care of the house, defend your father's honor, and fight if you have to. :) |
A) Its a TV show
B) A TV show made in the late 80's early 90's which at the time needed no explanation C) If you break down any other cartoon show from that period you will be asking similar questions |

nahhhhhhh.....just an interesting diversion from an otherwise boring day at work...
|
April and Vernon? Well that's something I've never thought of before! I don't think so. They're just rivals. There's no unresovled sexual tension or anything, IMHO, it's just business with those two. Just typical competition in the work place, one always wanting to better the other. I've never read into it any further than that.
And Irma being a lesbian? Nah. She's just too picky/annoying/frumpy/desperate/needy to get a man is all. |
You know what show is more fun to question?
Scooby Doo  |

Plus at one point Daphne was a reporter.... |
Shaggy - Pothead
Scooby - Pothead dog who gets contact high Daphne - Whore Fred - Gay/Daphne's Pimp Velma - Lesbian Haha we were just talking about this earlier today cause they wrote a book about it |
In the Scooby Doo movie, at the beginning, they do a funny scene where u see the Mystery Machine (their van) with smoke billowing out of the windows while Scoob and Shag are saying stuff like "Oh yeah that's the stuff". It's supposed to emulate Scooby and Shaggy tokin up some marijuana in the back of the van, but of course then they show you Scoob and Shag inside the van grilling hot dogs on a grill, thus the smoke. I always loved that scene though. :P

Did you see the scene in Jay and Silent Bob strike back where they actually DID go there with the Scooby gang? THAT was funny.
