Usagi Yojimbo Question.

Is his series a Spin-off of TMNT I know the first link was Usagi Yojimbo number 10 but Usagi is Constantly being linked to the Ninja Turtles inperticular Leonardo.

Nope, Usagi Yojimbo was invented by Stan Sakai and the TMNT, as everyone knows, by Eastman and Laird. If you want to know more about Usagi, I suggest you ckeck out the official site.

Huh? I don't think I understand what you are saying. Especially the "ok, Then there just linked" is beyond me.

Usagi Yojimbo is strongly linked to the TMNT series
Usagi Yojimbo No 10 feature Leonardo
Turtle soup no.1 Features a Story about Leo and Usagi
The Original Cartoon series has a 2 Part episode Featuring Usagi
The Current series BATTLE NEXUS episodes has Usagi has a main part of the plot
thats how there linked :D :anime:

Stan Sakai and Eastman&Laird are friends, that's why Usagi guest-stars from time to time in TMNT series. Moreover, Mirage-looking TMNT were in one of Usagi's comics as well, don't remember the title of it, though :ohwell:

Right, then I just didn't get the grammar. Sorry.

Always remember: "They're in there fixing their car"

In fact, a lot of characters associated with the TMNT universe or appearing in TMNT comics are «guests» : Mirage Studios were always very strong on encouraging independant creators, and they believe in «creator-owned» characters (see their implication with the Xeric Foundation or the Creators Bill of Rights).

Ex. : Mark Martin's Gnatrat, Matt Howard's Post Bros, Dave Sim's Cerebus, Bob Burden's Flamming and Sakai's Usagi all appeared in a Mirage TMNT book.

Many other characters that are part of the TMNT universe were owned by their creator (which makes the copyright issue a bit complex) :
- Merdude = Dan Berger;
- all-time favorite Raph girlfriend Ninjara = Clarrain/Allan (she even had her own serie in Furrlough);
- Rosie Radiator = Mark Bodé;
- Clark Ashton Allard = Farley;
- Panda Khan (the action figure) = Dave Garcia (he had his own comic and never appeared in any TMNT media);
- Tatoo's dog Inky = Eric Talbot;
- Lucindra = Rick Arthur
- Choate = Dooney

All in all, using creator copyrighted characters in TMNT franchises was a good way for Mirage to give a little financial support to friends and talented folks. For a list of TMNT/Usagi crossovers, go see that thread in the Comic discussion section.
