Wouldn't it have been cooler if the Original 1988 TMNT figures looked like
this:

Maybe...but that's the Leonardo figure you're comparing it to....that was the weakest figure to me (why isn't he angry looking like the other three were?). The other originals were cool in my opinion. But had they been different, I don't know if I'd have gotten them back in the day. Probably...

I liked the old figures. No one was making figures with that kinda detail in 88 anyway. Granted Playmates never went back and made another good set of turtles til the Movie TNMT, but the original guys were pretty cool for their time.

But the really awesome ones didn't come around til TNM.

Well I think the 1988 look was fine, Gives them more to work with now.

They weren't that bad but they could have been better

well considering that tmnt was their first action figure line... i think they did damn awesome. Playmates was a doll company b4 it did tmnt

yea they were pretty good. TMNT and Simpsons were their only succesful action figure lines. So of course when they get a chance to make new tmnt toys, why not take them up on the offer? :P

Yeah.. main reason why I like those Ninja Action figures. But the new cartoon line will look a little more like the original MIrage TMNT (minus the tail).

Though, the real reason why the first Playmates figures looked like they did, was because it was part of the campaign for the 1988 TMNT cartoon series. They went hand n hand like that.

Yikes....changed it to Raphael?! The first Raphael is cool, my first figure!
The first Leonardo was kinda weak, but the others were cool!

Speaking of the figures, has anybody seen the packaging for the new TMNT toys yet? IMO, they're awesome...I love how the big head is used on the card backing.

Yeah, I thought that was a cool idea! You gotta wonder though how they'll do that with Splinter, Shredder and the other characters considering the fact their heads are all shaped differently.
