4 Times The Evil
well folks, 4 days until the release of Resident Evil 4 on PS2 (14 days for me! :x ) and i am hyped!
|
I just got a good laugh from reading the review in Germany's Official Playstation Magazine where they said that it looked EXACTLY like the GameCube version. The PS2 version looks great and all but... well, what else can you expect from an official magazine?
|
The graphics may look the same, but due to the inferior hardware housed in the PS2, the frame rate must drop considerably when multiple enemies are on the screen. Like in the middle of the town at the beginning, where you get gangbanged by 50 people, that must run like 20fps at most. You can always get the same graphics on a current generation GPU, but to be able to run the graphics at a proper rate, that's the trick. I'm glad PS2 owners get to experience the wonderful game that is RE4, but I believe their experience won't be as grand as the Gamecube's. That's just me, though.
|
And the graphics do NOT look the same. I saw some comparison pics and the PS2 version's poly count is noticably lower. It's still impressive how good the port looks though.
|
Well, if it gets me some wierdo killers with chainsaws killing action, i can sleep easy at night :P

Hm... didn't see this topic. It's been discussed to hell and back already, but here goes again:
The only time graphical power is important to me is when games can't keep up in frame rate. It's annoying to have slow down, and it pulls you away from being absorbed in the game. Also, the game doesn't look as detailed. They had to remove a lot of the tiny things in the backgrounds, but that's not such a big deal. I was usually too busy blowing villagers heads off to notice that a tree had realistic looking leaves. |
well as i said, excellent graphics is a + but for me gameplay is the most important :D
|
RE4 for PS2 is a joke, a sick joke. Notice they're trying to increase sales by having promotions like getting Leon figures when you buy the game, or other extras.
|
I've got to admit that that Limited Steel Box is f*cking sweet.

Also, the lighting and fog effects when to hell in a handbasket. That's a big part of the game's atmosphere lost right there. So sad really. I pity PS2 gamers that will blindly play this version. They're missing the full immersive experience.

My older brother bought the ps2 version. and its not that different. it just seems slower after the cut scenes and the fight with krauser seemed off. he didnt seem to move around as much. i dont know. I liked both versions.
|
any gamecube people that hate it going on PS2 should be glad PS2 owners get to experience a game that was exclusive to gamecube
anyway it's my fav. game! :P |

like the fact that i could've faced Dr. Sal 2 times in the village?
anyway my new challenge is Pro mode! but im kinda crap at Pro :tanime: |
re4 is awesome on the cube but with the new stuff makes the ps2 worth it..
If you want the best experience of Resident evil 4, go for the cube version. If you want the good experience and some new stuff, go for the ps2 version. |
if you wonder about Seperate Ways, Ada is pretty damn crap in it :ohwell:
when she gets hit, half her health goes down and she can't upgrade weapons, but you can fight Saddler in his human form! :D |
