What was the "Secret of the Ooze"?

Another TMNT movie introspective: What exactly is the "Secret of the Ooze"? If you go by the movie it's that it was created by TGRI, completly by accedent. But like Donnie said, "There's gotta be more to it!" So what more is there to it? Well that's the point to this very thread, what do you think is the secret of the ooze.

XERO 01-08-2006 06:27 PM

I think this is where the supposed 'Professor Jordan Perry as an Utom' scene was supposed to happen. :ohwell:

Jester 01-08-2006 06:37 PM

I'd have to agree with you. This is why I really want TMNT: SEs for all 3 original movies. I kinda want to see Henson Creature Shop sketches for a Utrom, and even the supposed original mutants Bebop and Rocksteady. Hey, could that be why they didn't use either, because Bebop and Rocksteady combined with Utroms would blow little kids minds. "That Professor is Krang?" they'd think.

XERO 01-08-2006 06:42 PM

I guess that's why it's the Secret of the Ooze.

They'd tell us, but then they'd have to kill us. :P

Jester 01-08-2006 06:46 PM

:P Indeed. But there originally had to be more to it, and that was that the Utroms were building a transmat and it's waste combined with the radiation it emitted created a green coloidal mutagen.

XERO 01-08-2006 06:47 PM

I guess the 'Secret' was too expensive to 'reveal.' :P ;)

Jo Dawn 01-08-2006 07:51 PM

I thought maybe the 'Secret' was the origin of the Ooze; Thats what I always thought.

Though I'm still highly interested in this 'Professor Perry is an Oot', idea that we all missed out on. I, too, am hoping that we eventually get a Special Edition DVD for each movie (and what better time than now, when it's highly popular again?), and that we can at least see some storyboards for this scene, if not some deleted scenes. :)

IceFlash78 01-08-2006 07:58 PM

Personally, I kinda thought the "secret" was that the ooze was created on purpose, that it wasn't an accidential creation. That Professor Perry, who created the ooze, althought he didn't necessarily know what it would do, had some kind of purpose for creating the ooze.

Or maybe the secret was that the ooze can actually cause mutations, and that the TMNT was not an unique case--mutated animals could be created at anytime, like the Shredder showed.

I'm curious about the "Professor Perry as a Utrom" theory. I've heard of it before on these forums, but I didn't know where it came from... Was this a fan theory or did soembody involved with the movie reveal this?

I agree with Jo Dawn... actually she said EXACTLY what I wanted to say... dammit

Deleted scenes or storyboards would ROCK, although I'm almost afraid that my respect for the movies (especially the first movie) would kinda diminsh if these ever came out with the special edition dvds.

I mean.. I will always love them, and I would definately buy the SE Dvds if they ever came out. However, as I hear how much was thrown out or how much had to be edited, it almost saddens me to think how much POTENTIAL these movies (first and second in particuar) could have had but was never realized.

Wait, you mean they really were considering making a more of an OT version into a movie??? DAMNIT!! That's what I wanted in the first place.

Before the first movie came out I was trying to imagine how Krang would look, and the Technodrome... I was really disappointed when none of those showed up and Shredder was the leader of a bunch of child thugs.

There is just no emoticon for how I feel about that.

Top Ten Most Likely Secrets of the Ooze

10. Invented by Al Gore
9. Actually low in carbs
8. Created by mopping up the floor at McDonald's, then dumping the water into a cannister and letting sit for five minutes
7. Its first test subject: Michael Jackson
6. Apparently can mutate metal, too, as demonstrated by Super-Shredder
5. Spackle your child's wall with it, and his/her room will have its own electricity-free nightlight!
4. After the movie, got a job as a blob of slime at Nickelodeon Studios. The ooze now lives with its wife and kids in Waco, Texas.
3. In several years, it will distabilize and turn all those affected by it into horrible monste- oh, wait... wrong Turtle continuity...
2. A drop was spilled on Tara Reid's chest and, well... you know the rest.

And the number one possible secret of the ooze is...

1. It's made of PEOPLE!!! Mutagen is PEOPLE!!!

Great listing Seurat.

In my opinion the main "secret of the ooze" was there was actually NO secret of the ooze - everything was utterly accidental...

...and that is lame. I believed the ooze was some secret part of U.S. military research. And a governmental conspiracy.:|

I think Ben's answer says it all:lol:

Hehe, Seurat...

And no, Shredette... it wasn't gonna be an OT movie... The Utroms are in the comics, so it wouldn't have been Krang... just an Utrom. No OT movie.

d_osborn 01-09-2006 10:34 PM

the utrom scene was never filmed. it was in an early draft of the script, but no the final shooting script.

Jester 01-09-2006 10:42 PM

we know, but there may be storyboards and Henson Creature Shop desighns.

Zachatello00 01-09-2006 10:48 PM

I always assumed that the "secret" was the full story of the ooze and it's relation to the turtles mutation that they learned during the movie.
