Spider-Man: The Other
Ok..granted...
I have not picked up a Spiderman title in a while and Im a little behind the times story wise...but they are messing with my favorite superhero again. Look..! http://www.marvel.com/publishing/sto...tory.htm?id=67 Iron Spiderman? I like the idea of Spidey and Ironman being friends and all that, and even that Tony Stark made Spidey a new suit...but Yellow?!! Spideys colors are red and blue!...ok,ok..I liked the idea when Spidey got a Black costume in the past..but that was black. I dunno...the design is nice, the angular spider motif is very cool...but i cant get past the yellow. Hopefully the colors wont be permanent. Thanks for letting me rant. |

They never are. This "Other" storyline is retarded, giving Spidy actual skin shedding spider powers, blech, razor sharp spears from his arms, what is he? The Guyver? Apparently, Iron Man and Spidy are going to have a little break up during this "Cival War" arc, I'd love to see a badass Tony Stark and Spidy battle, but only if Pete ditches that gay swaying coustume |
.........well it's better then armored captain america
i like the desigh of it but the yellow needs to go maybe after the Civil War arc spidey changes the color back to classic red and blue with white eyes |
Talking about Spider-man, "The other" and assorted Spidey-related crap by Marvel: Has he lost an eye or hasn't he?
|
Quote:
Its' a little complicated. Yes and no. After losing his eye, he died protecting MJ from Morlun in hospita, shed his skin, emerged from a cocoon reborn, and now has new powers. |

*sigh* So, what now? Can he finally communicate with spiders, or does he have some magical totem spider spirit to aide him if he prays to it in the middle of battle? EDIT: (reads Zarius's earlier post) Ugh.... Great. Now he can suffocate his enemies with the many layers of skin he can shed. What, does he spurt webbing from his butt now, too? Oh yeah, and that suit sucks. I take that back. It's lame. Okay, I think it's safe to agree that it is no improvement whatsoever over the old design. If it's not an improvement, if it adds nothing, they shouldn't screw with it. Hey, guess what everybody? It's Friday the 13th. Edit, again. (reads about THE OTHER storyarc at Spider-Man forum). JMS must die. |
Its bad enough JMS ruined Gwen Stacy with that one story line, now he has to go and do it to spiderman!
The suit isnt all that bad...it just needs some tweeky, it looks to dark for Peter, it dosent fit his personality. He's easy going, not a vigalante. I am how ever looking foward to the civil war story, sound a tad bit intersting. |

Okay, my brother and I, we have been playing around with the new Spidey-Design, and this is what we came up with. We took the new suit/armor back to the classical colours. Just to give you an impression of what it could look like.

Second one looks like the revenge of Ben Reily, third the rise of Miguel O'Hara |
Your last one looks great Anarky, Edit #2 the red spider on the blue suit.
And I do agree with Zarius...shades of Spiderman 2099 all over again. Im a bit of a big time Venom fan...someone care to elaborate how that image would look with a blueish suit and white spider motif?...:D |

.... Oh, wait... You're serious. |

You're laughing? I was in tears... really. I mean, that's our Spidey they're messing with, the one we loved for all our lives. I think Spider-Man died for me tonight... |
I laughed because I thought it was a joke. :P Twas sarcasm, my dear. ;)

Ok a recap of Spiderman
Spidey is just a long line of spider-men. Peter Parker was chosen by the spider that bit him (which was really a magical spider..) to be the next totem spider-person (I say person because of Arana, Spider-girl, and Spider-Woman). Arana is a member of the Spider Society. A group of Spider people which started in Spain in 1099. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Spider_Society Well each of the spider-people have to shed their skin at least once in their lifetime. Spidey's shedding of his skin has been building up for a while but Peter has been ignoring it. So Spiderman DID die. But he went into a cacoon type thing and whala...he not only got his eye back but more powers and an ugly arse suit courtasy of Tony Stark (Yellow?! Oh come fraken on!). So the old spiderman died, but a new one was reborn. As for Morlun...well he's apperantly been hunting totem people for a while (he was a totem eater) But thankfully the spider in peter woke up and killed Morlun. As for Spidey being able to talk to spiders. Uh...he was already able to talk to insects and arachnids before the Other storyline. :P |
ararky I like your edits (edit one and venom alot) ii hope the colors really do change
and the other was a good read (jms not so much)and the fact they talked about who do after peters death(and him killing morlun)was some of the better spidey story telling in 05 my two cents EDIT a new picture it looks better then the first one http://comicsnewsi.net/g/?mode=view&...ze=800&start=0 |

Actually, come to think of it -- I don't think it was all Joe. Remember years back Peter David's Spider-Man 2099? Spidey had poisonous stingers on his arms, similar to what he has now? That, plus JMS's general fascination with spider gods and primal totemistic Dr. Strange-world themes equals raping of one of the coolest superheroes of all time. I like how you brought back the original colors, Anarky. But I think the fundamental flaw is in the design of the new suit, itself. We've basically already seen this motif/these proportions in Ben Reilly THE CLONE's outfit. (Though frankly, even that looked better than this.) EDIT: that venom color motif is great! Works better with the design than any of the other colors! Who knows. Maybe they'll come to their senses, retcon this magical interlude and actually have Spidey y'know stop robberies and petty criminals and earthly, tangible criminals. All this intergalactic/dimensional/astral plane refuse just doesn't fit him. He's like the one superhero who from the beginning was not the big flashy hotshot; Spider-Man was the everyman fighting everyday battles, which are just as important in their way as the big, ultimate ones. It was random chance that gave him his abilities -- now, the fact that he's spider-man is due to some ongoing predestined totemistic ritual... ugh. What a lousy Friday the 13th... *Grabs can of prickly pair juice and downs it vigorously...* |

And yeah, JMS treats the comic like hed' rather write Doctor Strange, but you have to remember the guys' heavy into mythology and death, when Pete died, I thought for sure hed' be getting a life span of twenty years:lol: (rep to anyone who gets that one) |
