Kevin Eastman Talks New Turtles Film

Here's a link to G4's "Attack of the Show" with an interview of Kevin Eastman. In it he discusses Heavy Metal, TMNT, and the new CGI TMNT film. Apparently he still has SOME control over the characters as he is getting a writing/creating credit in the film. Which makes me wonder if the new film is based on a comic that he wrote?*

To view the interview simply scroll down and it's on the right hand side labeled "Kevin Eastman's Heavy Metal". Enjoy.

*Possible Spoiler*
Could this lend more credence to the movie being based on "City At War"?

Anarchistguy 01-16-2006 05:11 PM

My GOD has he changed.

And when he talked about the recent TMNT projects (from 2001 to topresent), he talked as if he was actually involved in them. I don't get it...didn't he sell his share of the property to Laird?

I didn't see how... but maybe I missed something... cool interview none the less... I noticed no TMNT movi posters though... just old school dawings... interesting, no?

I hope to god this movie is based on City at War, they'd be stupid not to do that.

What I meant was that if he's still involved to the extent that he claims to be, then perhaps it's based upon a story that he wrote/co-wrote? He did co-write City At War after all.

I saw this interview when the episode originally aired and I saw it on a best of show a few weeks ago. I just hope Eastman's involvement with the movie really makes an impact. I'd like to see a City at War type of thing for the movie or maybe somethin' like RTNY. That'd be great for the movie to be influenced by a volume one story arc; especially one that I haven't read.

Is it me, or does he kinda bear some resemblence to the other co-reator of the TMNT??

He is the other co-creator of the TMNT. :D

Back on topic. This interviewer-guy really was an idiot. "Haha! Look at me! I make masturbating- and boob-jokes all the time! Who needs information, I try to be funny!"

Aside from that moron, there wasn't really anything new. Eastman told us that he was involved in the movie and that was about it.

iris 01-16-2006 11:40 PM

Thanks for the summary Anarky. I can't load the vid. :ohwell:

Even if Eastman doesn't own anything, I don't see why he'd be totally disassociated with the world of TMNT.

R-iZZy 01-22-2006 07:23 PM

He speaks as though he's done a lot for the new series. Don't get me wrong, I'd love for him to be more involved with the new series, but he isn't. But I don't blame him for saying "we" as if he's been involved, the TMNT are his children.

Anyway, I REALLY hope he is going to be heavily involved in this new movie. I think Eastman finds more success in pleasing his crowd more than Laird does, to be honest. Those two seriously need to work together, again.

IceFlash78 01-22-2006 08:06 PM

Hmm.. why did Eastman leave in the first place? Was there some kind of disagreement between him and Laird?

Turtledude2k3 01-22-2006 08:08 PM

Yes I agree. they sure need to work together again.

OA 01-22-2006 08:28 PM

I also found it interesting the amount of "we"s Kevin would say when refeencing the tmnt...if one just looked at that interview, you would most assuredly walk away from it thinking that Kevin is highly involved in the current tmnt universe...hmmm...very interesting video nonetheless

What Role Is Kevin Playing In The Development Of The New Movie If Any?

TheShowstoppa 01-23-2006 06:51 PM

I think Co-Writer and I would imagine he and Laird might wind up being producers. However, being as that he does not own all that much stock in TMNT anymore, I doubt he'd get a huge role like producer.

Aztec General 01-23-2006 08:39 PM

I'd have to imagine he'd be an "Executive Producer". That's Hollywood lingo for "Guy who does nothing but still makes money off of project".

Barkworm 01-24-2006 11:09 AM

Wow, that interviewer was a retard. What's the point in interviewing someone if all you want to do is to make kindergarden-level jokes?

BartAllen 01-24-2006 11:36 AM

isnt this just like the type of credit stan lee gets for the marvel movies?

TheShowstoppa 01-24-2006 04:46 PM

Well, you also have to remember that the opening credits will also read "Based on the Characters Created by: Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird."

Stan Lee Exectuively Produces most of his creations.
