a few newb questions
 

okay, id like to start things off by explaining that ive only read like 4 of the TMNT comics in my life (i plan to start reading them though)

and i was just wondering a few thigns:

1. i hear about this "City of war" with the new CGI movie, how everyone thinks that would be a good storyline. well ive never heard of the city at war (new or old school) so im guessing its something from the comics, someoen recap/sum it up for me?

2. ive also heard about new looking turtles in the comics (bat splinter, shredder raph, etc etc) could someone explain each character and what happened to them? not the full story but just explain the basicas of what happened "ie Raph killed shredder and his soul went in him" (just an example)

also, to go along with number 2, with the "new turtles" as im calling them, is this the main timeline for the comics now? or was this just a spinoff or something? if i were to get one of the image/archie comics tomorow would i see these turtles?

id also lik eto know any of the interestnig things from the comic lines, i remember reading something about krang jumping on the shredders head or something a few days ago on these forums, if you could recap a few of the more interesting things that happened thatd be great :)

These "new Turtles" are not continuity because they were part of Image's try at the TMNT. They failed. Here's what happened:

Don - Cyborg
Raph - Shredder
Leo - hand cut off
Mikey - nothing
Splinter - dunno

You would definitely see them in the Image comics, but nowhere else. But there have been certain changes with the TMNT in the current series (Vol. 4):

Don - size of an apple
Raph - Dinosaur

I'd love to see this.
