New Ep Discussion: "Return of Savanti, Part 1 "
Hello
Well, it's time to discuss your thoughts on this week's episode. Enjoy :) I thought it was a "meh" kind of episode. I liked it as always, but it was nothing special to me... |
I actually thought it was pretty good...Though I've missed a few eps and I'm a bit lost as to who Savanti is, or to where Renet came from. Great ep all the same, though: cool premise and plenty of wisecracks, so I'm as happy as a clam.
I'm definitely getting the sense this is all leading up to the "Fast Forward" season...Might that time scepter be responsible for accidentally sending the Turtles to the future? 'Seems like a good bet. And I really enjoyed those small "100 reasons the Turtles kick shell," or whatever, during the commercial breaks. It's really cool that 4Kids is actually putting some effort into promoting the 100th episode of the 'toon. |
This ep was kind of slow-paced. Donny likes dinosaurs. Yes. Okay. We get it. Bewitched dinosaurs attack them. They name a triceratops Zog. Renet is pretty useless. Don's sneezing. That's not quite the sort of symptoms I was expecting. *blinks*
And praise for the voice actor: it's hard to fake a sneeze! A couple were silly-sounding, but some were convincing. ;) I'm kind of afraid to say anything else, at the risk of bothering someone. :( |
You're not bothering anyone. Where in the name of God did you get that?
And did anyone notice that In the old cartoon, there was a similar story where Leonardo was the one who got sick before turning into a vicious monster? This time it's Donatello who gets this "honor". |
Uh... well, because last week's discussion didn't go so well.
Anyway, this ep kind of made me feel like they had slightly too much material for one episode, but not enough for two, so they filled this one with dialog, and paced it really slow (that museum scene was LONG for the information and humor it gave us). I have a feeling the next ep will be pretty fast-paced. *blinks* It seems like Don is always the one to carry the girl. He is quite sappy, isn't he? :D |
I thought this one was pretty cool. I like dinosaurs as well so I liked seeing them all. I think Don's sneezing will definitly have something to do with a future episode, because, like someone said before (I forget who it was) the bacteria or whatever he is coughing up, can't be good.
Also, it kinda seemed like they made a reference to either an episode to come, or to Vol 4. I say this because when Renet told April she already met her, then caught herself, it kinda seemed like the whole April's origin thing from Vol 4. I dunno if I was the only person that thought that but oh well. I am looking forward to next week's episode. And I noticed something in this episode, and I'm sure someone is going to bitch at me for noticing this, but the the dinosaur Savanti was riding at the end wasn't a T-Rex, because it had three fingers, and they only had two. Oh well, I might have been the only one to notice that too, but I guess unless they say so, it isn't necessarily a T-Rex. |

...And still some people on the Internet simply act like jerks. That's the bottom line. |
Hmmm... no polls this week? Ah well, whatever, I'll live.
This is just a plain silly fun episode to set up the battle. Yeah there's not much action, but it made up for it with all the humor. I can live with that. The hall with the Whale in the AMNH very quite accurate... except when they suddenly turn a corner and ended up in the dino hall. I love how Mikey named the Triceratops, Zog. That was a very nice touch. Unfortunately, this episode also had tons of unintentional humor and errors. Geez the frontal view of the stampeding dinos looked bad. At first, they look like some kind of vicious carnivores, but later, they look like Muttaburrasaurs. I got Beast Wars flash backs watching how weird the legs move when they charge straight at the screen. And are the animators still stuck in the 1980s? Most of the dinosaurs look horrible. For some strange reason, they got the T-rex skeleton right, but when it finally appears with Savanti, he has 3 fingers now? |
I think that was a great episode. Donny is getting very close to Monster Turtle. I can't wait for that episode where Don turn into a monster. oh and part 2 of this one.
|
errors are common in the turtles series.
I liked this episode. wasn't as good as the others but it makes up for it's silliness and stuff. I liked it when Mikey fed the dino some chips. Zog!!! |
Great episode, I love the animation, it was so well pulled off, and the dinos looked great. It was also pretty funny. Plus it's great the Savnti action figure will be cartoon accurate.
8/10 Plus the best line in the episode... Raph: Think we scared it off Leo: Nope Raph:...Think something horribles coming this way Leo...Yup |
This was an ok ep...mostly it was just to lead to next week's ep. April meets Savanti (sorta) for the first time and Renet for the first time (sorta....kinda...sorta...time paradoxes hurt brain..)...
It was cool to see all those different species of Dino, even Archelons! I just wish they'd stated where on the ring of fire they are. What's really cool tho is that the dinos they had were ones mostly found on the west coast like the Deinonychus (which might indicate they're in Montana since lots of Deinonychus fossils have been found there)...but uh...they're supposed to be about 4 ft tall..those Dinos were way taller....I think Don may have been wrong and they were fighting Utahraptors (larger relatives of the Deinonychus) instead... :P That Triceratops they've dubbed Zog tho...thank goodness they have their new uh pet.. *lol* Oh! Did anybody else notice on the add for the 100th ep that it said the ep would be an hour long?! Oh and that herd of Dinos they were running from...they looked like Iguanadon to me. So the Dinos shown: Archelons (why did Leo get scared when he saw the sea turtle in the museum?) Pteranadons Apatasaurs (formerly Brontosaurs) Triceratops Iguanadon(?) Stegosaurs Deinonychus (or possibly Utahraptor) T-Rex Velociraptor (the small dino about to eat the dead Dino) Ankylosaurs Now where were the duck billed dinos?! Oh and here's a pic of a Deinonychus: http://www.cbv.ns.ca/marigold/histor...onychuspic.jpg Oh and my fave quotes were: Michelangelo: "Look there's a Nerdasaur!" Raphael: "And I see a Geek-a-saurus Rex!" April: "Look Donnie...Chicken-a-sauruses" Michelangelo: "A message of doom...when you want to send the very best.." |
Also something really struck me about this episode.
When Renet said she met April when she showed her...and then said it happened yet. Do you think Pete is trying to incorperate that little April-incident from volume 4 into the show? Cause while I admire Peter, I just didn't like that decision. |
I'll try and keep this nice and consice. :D First off damn, I missed the first fifteen minutes. What I did see I sort of liked the episode it was...okay. I laughed when Donny sneezed on the dinosaur that was pretty funny, especially when he said "now that's embarrassing" and his voiced sort of cracked.
Oh and Savanti Romero, ooo he doesn't seem to be as much a loser anymore. He found his own power. :o |

I enjoyed this episode... not the best by any means, but enjoyable. Here's my list of random reactions:
I love that they bothered to define them as "Deinonychus" rather than just calling them "raptors." And while they might have been a bit too big, at least they weren't trying to pass them off as Velociraptiors, Jurassic Park-style. (as much as I DO love that movie.) The museum scene went on for a bit long, I thought. I started fidgeting and wondering when something was gonna happen. But then again, I was obsessed with dinosaurs when I was in third grade... so that may have been why Don's entire geekout seemed like I'd heard it before. :P The dinosaurs looked OK. Some of the animation was awkward in spots. but in others it was decent. One goof that comes immediately to mind is one of a running Deinonychus. Its stride was really long, but the ground under it wasn't moving fast enough to keep up... looked like it was floating. The head-on shots of the dino stampede were often awkward, but the overhead shot looked decent. And Zog was cute... and usually well-animated too. Did anybody else want to do violent things to Renet throughout the episode? Maybe I don't have a lot of patience for ditzy/clueless people, but MAN. Just a liability, that girl. And the "omg, like wow!" voice only intensified the effect. The one-liners and wisecracks kept me entertained through most of the episode. Raph in particular was great. Aaand I was so happy to see a "To Be Continued..." With those so scarce this season... :D |

I never go to to see Time Travelers so this is the first time I've ever seen Renet.
I never thought her attitude would be so infuseastic Can someone give me a recap on what happened in "Time Travelers"? I feel n88b for asking this question, but it's the only season 3 episode I missed out on. |
This episode was a good set up for the two-parter. I liked the action and the humor. The dinosaurs were intresting to say the least. I liked the part in the museum when that T-Rex skeleton got re-animated. That suprised me and I'm glad Savanti showed up.
Since I haven't seen the episode of Savanti's and Renet's first appearence, I'm glad I got to see those characters in cartooon form. Savanti acted how I expected him to and so did Renet. I liked how Donny's sneeze scared away that Deinonychus. That was creative. This episode felt a little slow-paced and it coulda had more action. I'd say next week's episode'll be better cuz I give this one a four out of five. Next week's will probably have a fight that is worth seein'. It makes me wonder how Savanti will get defeated. It also makes me wonder how long the fight will last and wheter or not Savanti will be gone for good. |
