Tales of the TMNT 21

Tales 21 preview is up!

Evil Sheriff Terrorbull steals a magic crystal and uses it to open an interdimensional doorway that takes him (and the pursuing Wild West C.O.W.Boys of Moo Mesa) to New York City, where they meet the TMNT.

I suppose this would be an even more interesting crossover if I knew just what the heck the Cowboys of Moo Mesa was. :ohwell:

I used to love Cowboys of Moo Mesa. The Dakota Dude was my favorite.

Oh, here you go Raph's Girl, a little info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wild_We...ys_of_Moo_Mesa

Tinuvielsdreams 03-23-2006 07:13 PM

Oh man what a random crossover. I never thought I would see those guys again.

ThemanthatwouldbeRaphael 03-23-2006 07:47 PM

It's not that random. As it said on Wikipedia, the creator of WWCBoMM was a former TMNT artist.

I remember the show....heck the theater where I used to live had the arcde game...talk about nestalgia.

Ryan Brown made the Cow Boys of Moo Mesa? Trippy! I remembered watching their show a few times, when I was a kid, and always thought of how much of a Ninja Turtle rip-off it was. Well, go figure, one of the TMNT artists was part of it.

I'm actually looking forward to this. Perhaps it can spark up some old memories of the Cow Boys of Moo Mesa that I had (they weren't strong memories, but memories nonetheless).

now before I say anything...please realise I have no problem with this crossover as silly as it may seem.
I just can't believe this is going to be part of the cannon tmnt story line when peter laird can dissreguard allot of other things..just because he doesn't like them.
I mean really I'd much rather have liked to have seen either a mirage meets archie universe comic or mirage meets old toon comic..
that's just my 2 cents and what can ya get for 2 cents these days nothin:|

This really is no sillier than the TMNT teaming with Flaming Carrot. Besides this could work, and maybe they could adapt it into an episode in the new series, then the world can finally have the C.O.W Boys of Moo Mesa back.

I think that would be great but I'm sure all the new show lovers will be complaining about bla bla bla reminds me of the old cartoon bla bla bla...yep I can see all the angry fans now lol:lol:

Yeah but it dosen't really connect to the old series. They just kinda debuted around the same time.

I know even if ryan brown did design allot of the old tmnt action figures then created this toy line then the show came out...then the archie comics shortly came after...so you can sort of say it's connected to the old show through the toy line.
To be really honest these guys are my least favorite of the tmnt knock off's I'd much rather see a swat kats or street shark crossover.

Those would be bitchin. As would a TMNT/Gargoyles crossover.

Another intresting tid-bit. Ryan Brown (Cowboys of Moo Mesa creator), also created TMNT ally Leatherhead.

Tales 21 will be out on Wednesday (the 29th). So head out to the comic stores in a couple days.

SPOILERS AHOY!

Well, I only have vague memories of the COWboys of Moo Mesa animated series, but I remember the characters fairly well, so all I can say is the author got their personalities and trademarks down pat.

It was a straight-forward type of crossover, but there's only so much you can do with one issue of a comic book. It actually ran like an episode of the old TMNT cartoon.

The gimmick was seeing the characters interact with one-another, and that was pleasing enough. I dug the ending with the 4 Great Turtles.

But what I thought was most entertaining was, while the TMNT eat hamburgers regularly, the COWboys eat turtle soup just as much.

R-iZZy 03-30-2006 07:14 PM

^ LOL! Yeah, that part did make me laugh.

As a Tales issue, this was pretty bad, imo. I mean, it was great to see a crossover and the Turtles interacting with another team. But, eh, I dunno... this seemed more original cartoon-ish more than anything, and I really don't like when they make the Mirage line comics cartoonish.

Good action and all, and a pretty good way to introduce the Cow Boys of Moo Mesa to those who never heard them, but they just don't fit into this line. They'd have probably been better being used in the Archie series.

If it has to come down to crossovers... I'd rather the Turtles crossover with Marvel characters (though we'll never see that happen). Funny lines in here, so the dialogue gets a plus. I guess the concept was just sorta corny when reading this.

I got issue 20 last Saturday, so I'll wait till spring break to buy this one. That way I'll have a Tales comic to look forward on the week my birthday rolls around. I'm really excited about this issue since I'm into cowboy stuff and I go cowboy action shooting every once a month with my dad. I hope those C.O.W.Boy characters use firearms besides pistols to dispose of the enemy. But hey, it would be great to see if the pistols were modeled after the Rugers I use or famous pistols used by guys like Billy the Kid.

VaughnMichael 03-31-2006 06:46 PM

I got this issue on wed. this week been so buisy I'm just now getting to post about it :(
I thought it was ok a bit confusing allot of the cowboys look the same...
had it been in color or like was stated above in the archie series I think it would have been allot better...to be honest that's exactly what this issue reminded me of the Archie comics not mirage.
I did like the jokes in the comics...and the art was good though...I'm still wanting a mirage tmnt and archie tmnt crossover.
oh well next issue should be interesting...but it just reminds me of Image comics tmnt.
