From Grate Man to Shredder
 

Today I downloaded some old TMNT intros that were in the 4th reprint of TMNT Vol 1 issue 1. And in the origin of Shredder they said that he was originally gonna be called... Grate Man! :lol: ...Here's the page:

I've seen that I also have a tape (The Making of TMNT: Behind the Shells) where Pete and Kevin tell of how the Shredder armor came from. Basically it was from those large trapizoid shaped graters with the handle up at the top. Kevin, not sure which, placed that on his fore arm, gripping the handle from inside the grater. He then said, "Could you imagine a character with weapons on his arms like this?", and thus Shredder was born.

I have that issue...they also show the original drawings of Splinter and the TMNT
